Yeah I remember that. It wasn't a great time as Schimma had been my favourite player. It kind of had to happen though. And obviously the results speak for themselves as to what happened almost immediately afterwards. I still have my 'Schimma 306' membership medallion. He was hurting for years after that. Edit - but I actually don't recall the same level of anger as there is today/now.
Cheers …nice to get some perspective…🥃

Agree, plays for frees to compensate for lack of overhead craft. Needs to be freed up which is why we are crying out for a fwd key with good dukes.

Larkey frustrated me immensely today.

He plays for frees CONSTANTLY because he's not strong enough to win a 1 on 1 and he cannot take a pack mark.

I know he kicked a huge haul of goals in 2023, and that's great. But he's not a #1 KPF. He's a really good #2 being forced to play as a #1 because he's all we've got.

LMacs numbers aren't beautiful. He is co captain and in defence and has 0 tackles, again?
Cant see him getting high tackling numbers as he is so slow any oppo in possetion surely disposes of it before lmac is on the scene. Hard to believe he is the same bloke that chased down cyril rioli years ago.

Got to ask…was too young/ naive to know the inns and outs of the schimmmelbush sacking pre season after crows game in 93….but is the general mood / feeling amongst supporters similar to then….coz this has seriously has a lot of angry people at the moment….

Nope

That was a drubbing of epic proportions but what was annoying was that we had seen glimpses of brilliance in that group on and off from 1990. I remember a young team demolish the Tigers on a Friday night by over 100 points.

The list had potential that wasn’t being realised.

Fast forward 34 years we have about 6 goers and the rest are plodders plus we haven’t shown anything

Was a pretty sad time, especially with scimma being one of the clubs favorite sons. A lot of the emerging talent that went on to shine under pagen was there.
Thanks koshari …can’t remember the fallout as a young fella then….just that he was gone… and that wonderful time that came after…thanks for sharing…just wanted to know if supporters were as angry then as now 🍺

Same numbers as usual + Hawks fans, I reckon. About 15K Hawks supporters.

Hawks fans outnumbered us today and it wasn't particularly close.

Our members bays were the emptiest bays on Level 1.

It seems as though other teams take the first 10 minutes to see what we’re doing. Then they tweak things and we’re history. Today, it was Comben lording things early. Hawks just changed it up and that was that. Freo showed everybody the blueprint in R2. Since then, zero Plan B from us.

I don't know what our future holds.

I feel like this game specifically will have been the final straw for a LOT of members and fans.
Unusual for me but I have absolutely no words after today, except, I f&$king cannot deal with Tucker!! Makes me sick!

Today was excruciating. Understatement really.

WHY. WHY. WHY.

THESE LEADERS OF OUR CLUB HAVE PURELY BEEN VOTED IN DUE TO THEM BEING NICE, THAT IS THE LITERAL ONLY REASON BECAUSE THEY DO NOT PROVIDE ANY L E A D E R S H I P WHAT SO EVER. THEY WOULDNT EVEN KNOW WHAT LEADERSHIP IF IT HIT THEM BY A TRUCK.

I seriously try every single time I post to be positive. At the end of the day everyone contracted to our club is a shinboner and I will back every single one of our players.

It’s exhausting now.
We are all feeling it at the moment and we appreciate your positivity, and the poor fans that watch this team live. Rebuilding in the era of compromised drafts and poor appointments has screwed us in the now. Just got to stick fat for the club’s sake.

Just imagine what would have happened if we’d been serving this crap up week in and week out in 2008?!
I was thinking about this.

I think we have an administration off field to not get us to that point.

But if we had to fight for the club like in 07 I don’t know that people would fight like they did and we would almost assuredly not get the same level of rank and file support from other clubs.

It is a conspiracy to deny us a win by extending matches to be longer than 5 minutes. :stern look

We have been shithouse in the middle every since 2019 when we lost Ben with nut cancer, we had Ben and Higgins in 2019 and a whole bunch of potatoes, that was good enough to win 10 games. We don't have a competitive inside mid and we don't have any outside mids that beat their opponents as an individual and team player on a regular occurance.

I am at a loss as to how you can be drafting nothing but mids with early picks since 2016 and still have a dogshit midfield.

Yes! i went to a game at the G (which was halfway through reconstruction) in late 1991 vs WCE who were on the rise. Peter German, Jose Romero, The Fridge... yes you're right, we had the nucleus there.

Both Duursma and McKercher don't really look quite ready for AFL.

They're too skinny and too soft.

Neither should be playing.

Play our best 22 week in, week out. Set standards for performance regardless of age.

Doesn't matter if you are a first round draft pick or a recent traded recruit. No special treatment. Build a performance culture.

I absolutely love this club, I will never stop buying memberships & showing up to games (that I can attend). I also do not leave games early I will always stay til the final siren

I miss the days where when you would mention to someone that you support north Melbourne and they wouldn’t say “oh poor you”

Losing two of the best of them unexpectedly doesn’t help, but yeah.

But Larkey is what he is. He plays as well as he can, within his limitations. The issues are all elewhere. He wound up with 3 goals again. It should have been 4. Curtis doing his job too. Zurhaar is definitely not. I get the distinct impression he’s on the way out. Hopefully, we can get a good defender for him. We have others who can perform his role more consistently.

Being a young adult, I felt awful for the kids that have been brought up in this era of shitness. At least I got to see us play in finals! These kids only know suffering when it comes to football. They are the ones who deserve a good North Melbourne.
I thought it was hard being a Nth supporter in the 80s.... A ****ing cake walk to what's being dished up now.

I'm out. I doubt I'll watch another game this season.
