Cameron yes.
Everyone else is a different type or role or injured.

Levi as a second ruck, bail out kick to a marking contest is a very good (and cheap) option.

GWS have a list full of talented players who don't work hard enough defensively.

Why would they really want to play an ordinary player who doesn't work hard enough defensively?

Tomlinson is already the reliable bailout down the line option.
Cameron and Himmelberg are their key forward options.
Patton is a more talented Casboult with some injury issues.
Simpson will be their main ruck, and they've been developing a hulk of a kid named Flynn behind him (entering his 4th season in 2019).
Finlayson played down back this year, but was drafted as a forward and can play there if required.

Gold Coast have Peter Wright, Sam Day, and then three ruckmen in Witts, Nicholls and Crossley, none of whom are much chop up forward.

Reckon Levi stands a pretty good chance of playing senior footy for GC, and getting a decent contract extension out of them. GWS he'd likely be playing NEAFL and facing another look at being delisted in 1-2 years.

2019 1st pick for Shiel would be a valuable pick for an established player. I genuinely believe that if Shiel nominates us, we will be trading pick 1. I know it’s tough to get our heads around as it is not SOS’s MO, but with our other targets, if we are willing to part with pick 1 for a godfather offer we will be able to hold on to numerous other picks (including our 2019 first) and still have a draft presence other than pick 1.

When you add up the alternative to trading pick 1, we are putting an enormous price on Walsh (or whoever) by refusing. This is going to be a huge trade period right around the league.

If it takes Pick 1 to get Shiel + others, I reckon we have a crack at sending our future first and change (read: player) to GC or Freo for Pick 5/6.

Get back into this draft again and pick up one of Smith, Rankine or Rozee.

Interestingly Dal Santo could not understand why Shiel would go to Hawks to chase success.

He estimated 11 of this year's best 22 will be retired in 3 years time.

Dal Santo also suggested on Monday that GWS shouldn't accept a draft pick for Shiel, because their premiership window is open and they need quality mature players. He should only be traded for another elite player.

.....ummmm.....how does that ease the salary cap pressure?

Bloke just offers up random musings without putting any thought into them beforehand.

Interesting.

GWS - would be handy steak knives as we negotiate our Pick 1 for every GWS player trade. We could also pay his salary which may reduce trade cost.
GCS - can see them wanting senior bodies, they've lost Lynch, they have surplus picks and should have plenty of cap space for him

Either of those should work well for us.

Operation ~Levi the meat shield!

Kane Cornes trade radio effort on the AFL website article re Dylan Shiel. Saying the Blues should go with Shiel over Walsh because they need 6-7 wins to keep a frustrated supporter base at bay.

Guy seems to pull this junk out of thin air. I think in general the supporter base are being patient and are on board with the plan. As much as I hated this year, I’d rather see another 2 win season next year knowing the club were setting up the future, than a 6 win season knowing we’d taken a comprising shortcut.
Saw that on Twitter. Comes up with so much BS... and he believes it too. Unbelievable.

Refuse to listen to TR or watch him now - don't feed the troll.

He'd be great, However, Pies would never let him go (assuming the Pies one is the only Tom Langdon.

No the most popular player at Collingwood - comes from a well off family, very intelligent and has teeth. Would like to see him at Carlton we chose the other bloke in draft over him - and the other bloke was delisted after 2 years - Tom Temay IIRC

Not trying to bag Levi, but I think the club would be happy to give Levi away to a good home.

We'll be paying McGovern $600k next year (ignoring front loading). If we trade out Levi, that saves us $350k and so McGovern only costs us $250k next year.

Completely agree.

If we can strengthen our MID's I'd be prepared to trade Levi and Liam.

Hey, do we need the #Bluemour tag in the No Discussion thread?

I think the hashtag would help you search for actual Bluemours, but since we have the two threads, I don't see the point.....

Yes?
No?
ferris, stop being a pedantic twit?

I'm not on Twitter and have never used a "hashtag" in my life. Do I have to start using one? I'd feel a bit of a w@nker to be honest...

I mean, what is their actual purpose?

Due to their other targets they’d delayed putting forth a contract to him (Collingwood). He’d obviously looked elsewhere during this time as a matter of course, so decision would be his now if he’s happy with the late offer.

Dreaming but wouldn’t it be nice to pull through in the PSD.

It means your rumours get better oil … you know …. that blokes got the good oil … that old saying ….. hence a # improves the oil ;)

designed for people who are only licensed to type up to 120 letters at a time....#idjotlookatmecrapola - a bit like safari suits really - no place in a gentleman's wardrobe.

Is there anyone else who feels uncomfortable about the whole private jet thing? Smacks of old school, arrogant, just-go-out-there-and-buy-the-best-players Carlton to me. I guess some might be impressed by it, but I also suspect there are others who wouldn't.

Maybe I'm out of touch, but if we're relying on flying someone up to Noosa on a private jet to convince him to play for us, then I think we're going about it the wrong way.

It's just another part of the persuasion.

Apparently Shiel is into real estate.

Mathieson says "Dylan - we can help you while playing with us and then transition your career when you retire"

I think I read somewhere that Richmond brought in half of their premiership side in three years before winning it
