Knew we were likely to lose a talented young player or two over the next couple of years but I assumed it would come from the tall stocks like Macreadie. Losing SPS would make me sad. But at least we'd be getting something damn fine in return.

What are we getting in return? Not clear this is related to any Shiel/setters/McGovern trades at this stage.

I hate to be the bearer of negative news but I did hear from someone that SPS whilst wanted, could be moved on for the right deal.
This was from the same source who told me about Hannebery moving on, a good 2 weeks before it came out.
It was always going to be tough to hold
all our kids, sometimes you have to give quality to get quality. It's shit, but it's inevitable.
Just the reality of professional football, anyone could be moved on for the right deal. I think SOS basically said that in his FC interview.

Word of SPS makes me sad. He's more than a footballer to me - something about a better Carlton. I hope he stays and slays them. At just 20, from where he has come, I think we'll regret any decision to move him along.

Andrew Walker's absence from our indigenous boys' life also makes me sad. He seemed to be doing great work.

Completely agree with this. Can we at least get *one* pre-season into him first? :(

Only consolation I can think of is that right now, I don't think he'd attract a decent offer...

And that would be WHAT exactly!?!?!?!?!?!?
No idea. But you don't ask a guy like SPS if he wants to move home unless you're very keen on who is replacing him.

The way MS3 worded that says we aren't unhappy with him. It would have to be for someone very good.

I don't get some of you.

Fisher smacks more of Navy Blue than SPS right now.
I'm glad we're keeping options open, than being blinded.

There's nothing to say we'd get rid of him and something good may yet come about for for it all.
We have a few players that have to learn the hard way and on the weight of 2018, SPS is one of them.

This may just be me tomorrow heading to work.

That was me every weekend before I quit drinking.:D

From TC not long ago (Poster JK- formerly known as a Josh Kaplan )

Shiel’s preference is Hawks . His father in law a big factor. His management concerned a deal won’t get done between Hawks-GWS, hence no announcement and limbo. GWS want to deal with us. Connors playing it well as can be expected.

I’m still hearing Setterfield flipped to * mid this week

Also from TC, from Okham's Razor...

We are in this up to our ears & there is plenty to play out.

Blues are way ahead of where the media & other clubs want us to be. The fact we are in play for Shiel et al this late in the stage scares the shit out of plenty of others.

There are statements to be made to the football world. If we secure Shiel, even for overs, we are protecting Cripps and providing insurance for his future at the Blues.

Will be an interesting and perhaps controversial trade period.

Cheers

SPS will thrive at a successful club. We can be that successful club in 2-3 years if we continue on this rebuild. I highly doubt (without putting disrespect on MS3's info) SOS and Bolts would send him off. He will not only become a star of this game, but it would seriously dismantle the culture these young men are creating.

If we let him go, we will regret it big time.

This is not rock solid but I don’t think this will be the deal.

Also not rock solid, but I’m hearing gentle whispers of Shiel to the Hawks. Not very sure either way, and not Bluemour worthy.

If we miss out on Mitchell - which I hope we do - we have dodged a cultural bullet. An astute mind maybe, but not a well liked man. I am sure of this whether he comes or not.
Thanks TRP, not the best news though ha. You hear anything about this SPS thing? Surely not
