I'm sure this has been covered... but I'm curious as to people's opinions.
If we end up landing MM, Shiel & Settefield, how do you see the trades going down? realistically... taking off the blue coloured glasses for just a moment.
If we are to land Shiel I think next years first is a given but that won't be enough. Pick 24 and next years first.

McLovin may be a little tricky, maybe 25 and priority access to McAdam

Setterfield will be a stretch with our current picks and I think SOS may have to get creative. Unless we try to offload pick 1 for two first rounders getting all three is going to be difficult, that's why SOS is on the big $

Shiel is not worth more than a Pick 1-5. For GWS the alternatives are picks in the teens from other teams, or zero when he becomes a FA if any other FA also leaves next year. The reason they are doing this is because of salary cap space - so they need this as much as we do. 2019 Pick 1-5 is more than enough. In fact I would argue it’s overs so adding a second rounder like 25 should be enough to add Setterfield to the deal.

1 Trade McAdam and our other mature age access player for 2 x second round picks.

We have the Pick 1, 4 x second rounders, and next year’s picks.

2 Swap our 2019 first rounder for GWS’ 2019 first for Shiel and Setterfield. We add in a 2018 second rounder.

We have the pick 1, 3 x second rounders, a lower 2019 first and all other 2019 picks.

3a MM costs us 2 x second rounders ... whether that's to give directly to Crows, or we trade up to a higher pick to give to Crows ...

3b perhaps we give the GWS 2019 first (from 1 above) to Crows, and we keep the pick 1 and the 3 x second rounders ...

Part of our “package” should be the ability to trade future first AND second/third etc. picks.

Didn’t Geelong get around those rules somehow anyway?
You only have to stay in the second round. I think that was what Hawthorn done anyway, with our trade with them to get Jäger.
So we could say trade future first to GWS and a swap of our future seconds which gives us abit more currency

Adelaide would want a high pick for Mc Govern. Settersfield and Shiel would be a package.

We would have to trade pick 24 and 25 to sydney for 13.

Then on go 13 to adelaide for McGovern and 37.

Then Shiel and Settersfield for 2019 first pick (1-5) and Lobbe (I like him but if we're keeping pick 1 someone has to go) plus #1 state league player. They will get 2 players that will go into there 22 and get a top 5 pick for next year. win win.

Casboult to Gold Coast for 41

Then keep or use 37 and 41 to upgrade to a higher pick. So we walk into the draft with pick 1(Walsh or rankine),37,41 plus a state league player of choice.

So we lose O'shea, Mullet, Casboult, Wright, Lobbe, maybe graham and Kerridge
and get in Shiel, Settersfield, McGovern, State player, Pick 1 and 2 more picks.

The SOS legend continues!!!

I can actually see the merit in trading pick 1. It holds so much more value than a future 1-4 it's ridiculous. If we could turn say 1 and possibly Adelaide's second into MM, Shiel and Setterfield we would have to consider it.
Port and Crows both on the record as looking to trade up to the pointy end of this draft.
If the offer for our Pick 1 includes a top 4 Pick and a lower first rounder, then IMO we should look at it. If Crows highest pick as part of a package is pick 8, then we say ‘No.’.

The twitter comment about Connors is kinda correct, however it misses the context, he said it, but in a joking way while next to Judd, with a grin on his face after being asked directly if Shiel was going to Carlton, ended in a laugh and a quick subject change.

Source relative at the luncheon.

This makes sense. Cheers Brezsa.
It also tells me he has a great relationship with Judd.:D

If we could turn 1 and small change into 4 and MM we should do it imo.
If we can say turn 1 and ~27 into MM, 8 and 15 and than on trade those for Shiel and Setterfield I would also do it.

For me I think a future pick 1-4 would get us only Shiel and if we are lucky a very late pick in return.
We could pretty much get MM and Setterfield for a 2-3 pick upgrade and pick ~27 by trading pick 1 instead

Port might lose Polec and Wingard and possibly others plus the the players they brought in last year have been a bust apart from Motlop.

I'm glad they're valuing the highest picks , it's good for us , , , but They need more than one good player.

Trading away pick one is just about the biggest risk a list manager can take.

I can't see us doing it unless it's a massive offer.

I’d bundle Shiel and Setterfield together for next years first. If Setterfield chooses Essendon then I’d be asking for a player that will walk into our best 22 (aged 25 or younger) or their pick 23 in this draft.

McGovern should be easily done. McAdam and our pick 25.

GWS and Adelaide should not even bother asking about this years pick 1 unless they want to be laughed at.

I wouldn't be surprised if Port were crucial in helping us get these deals through.
Anything to get their hands on Rankine or Luko.

It'd be profoundly foolish of both Adelaide sides not to try and trade lower. If either of them get their hands on 2 of Rankine, Rozee or Luko, they've done extremely well out of this draft.

And according to Tom Morris on AW we are giving the 2 priority selections we have (mcadam and grigg according to him) plus our 2 second rounders for Mcgovern. I was waiting for the mcgovern and and and but nothing was forthcoming. must have thought he was talking to 5aa.
****ing LOL.

Look at Melbourne - got Dom Tyson, Pick 9 (Salem) and 53.

But gave up pick 2, 20 and 72. Pick 2 was Josh Kelly.

It can seem to make sense at the time on paper but make you look like a fool later.
