Back when they were still trying to find out who their best forward was I remember him performing better than Boyd but thats about the extent of my knowledge
My recollection too is that he showed a fair bit but was pushed out by McCarty's good form and now with Patton, Lobb and Cameron there is well on the outer. But his name comes up as a prospect for the likes of Collingwood and Freo, who need tall forwards.

Here's a small snapshot of Stewart's performances to date....

Thanks.

Looks like he performed well in conjunction with two other good talls in Cameron and McCarthy last year but is rotting in the NEAFL now.

Him, Cas and Jaksch could be our equivalent.

GWS posters seem convinced Tomlinson is more of a big mid than a key forward. Great tank and finds his own ball. Which makes that mooted four player trade pretty good: defender, small mid, big mid, tall forward. Aged 20, 21, 23, and 23 going in to next season.

Obviously with SOS, Trigg, McKay and co mentioning about balancing the age group of the list another 4 for draft pick(s) deal seems quite legit.

We know we want to go to the draft to pick up kids... but with our improvement this year and another seemingly shallow draft getting 4 20ish year olds in who our recruiter equates to be as good as or better than what he could get with 4 picks in the draft is a good thing. These players at least are known entities... SOS has seen their professionalism, their desire, their skills, their attitudes close hand and perhaps they fit Bolton's mould and direction.

So trading this years 1st rounder and perhaps next years 2nd rounder for them is something to consider...

GWS4v2 must be a fair deal as only half our BF Board want to do the deal, with the other half thinking we should go the draft:cool:.

I do not think anybody can easily outbid CFC as:
1. the players (apparently) are keen to come to CFC, and want to be in Melbourne
2. Melbourne, Geelong and the Pies do not have a first round pick in 2016 (also limits trading their 2017 pick)
3. Essendon will want to use #1 pick in draft.
4. Richmond and Saints do not have a second round pick in 2016.
5. Dogs, Hawks and Norths picks likely to be later than ours:( (and Norths have traded their third round pick so would not want to be out of the draft). GWS may also not like to bolster immediate premiership threats.
6. CFC have Cap space to take all 4.
7. GWS likely want extra picks in 2016 as they have 7 academy players (no go home factor) ranked in top 40 of draft. Will decrease GWS player payments, reduce FA flight risk/bid cost in a few years time, increase age spread on list, and make the GWS academy incentive even stronger for future talented kids. They currently have three first round picks so getting four means less early academy bids against them reducing academy kids cost.
8. And they really want Marshall to stick it to AFL, so need a live early first round pick.

we should not trade 2017 first round pick as really need to get Joel Garner IMO. Will be a Star!

Bit past it isn't he....besides the wrong code and all...

I would give up a first rounder for Marchbank and Steele very easily
I would give up a second rounder for Tomlinson and Stewart if SOS thought they are both AFL quality

Obviously keeping the picks could return a kid much better than respective pairings (or could bust), but I think the pairings would likely bring more value than the 'expected return' from taking that pick to the draft.

Was there an actual rumour or just posters trade hypotheticals?
(Are the dual bluemour discussion/bluemour file threads still a thing?)

Yeah there was. Was posted about a week ago in the 2016 List Management Thread from someone who has had good information previously.

Loved the big bird, but this kid is "special"...

"Victorian half-forward/midfielder Joel Garner has also impressed and won the Cameron Ling Medal for the Academy's best player on its New Zealand tour, ... "

Terrific post BR.
:thumbsu:

The idea of the GWSv2 is very appealing for a number of reasons. The biggest one for me is we fill more holes in our list in one foul swoop, and we get more talented players at both ends of the ground. We can then look to draft quality mids in upcoming drafts for when we need to replace Murphy and Gibbs. I really think this is sound planning by the footy club.

The problem i have with the rumoured GWS super dooper trade is that none of the 3/4 players are an guarntee to be an A grade/Elite player, whereas odds are we could pick up a future elite and quick midfielder with the first rounder we would have to cough up.

So we would be trading away a near certain opportunity to draft an A grader for depth/collection of B Graders.

Is that actually the right approach for a rebuilding club to take ? I'm not convinced
If you want a guarantee DVB, buy a toaster... There's no guarantee the draft pick will be A grade either. As its a matter of probabilities, I would've thought taking a punt on four players is smarter than taking a punt on one...

Just don't get one from Aldi.

Don't tell us !!! Send that to SOS, cc GWS and make it happen...
Just not sure we need a retired West Indian pace bowler on our list. But otherwise, exceptional post BR.

Pick 7 actually
Disagree. They need points to get their academy players.

The current 4 aren't best 22 best they have a full side (besides marchbank).

They will all be asking for $$ in the 400k area (might no quite get that but will be asking), gws won't be able to afford that

They need to reduce numbers (i think).

They won't have to convince players to come to Carlton, they already know half the team, will see senior opportunity and more $$$
Therfore why give up or 1st pick?

Marchbank believed to be good friends with both McCartin and Goddard.
That's big footy for you, lets name two kids on our list he's good mates with, hmmn tall people are generally friends with one another, all those common interest... like being tall. Let's say he's besties with McCartin and Goddard
