Yaz + 56 for Sicily + 16?

Excellent trade, although 56 feels a little light on. Win/Win for both clubs and possibly for players too.

Hawks and Blues fill list needs, Yazz gets to be the cream on top type player he was meant to be, Sicily would likely get immediate opportunity. Plus we get another crack in the first round to pick up a slider or a mid with a reasonable shot of them being a very good long term player.

Gbatman not long after yet another post suggesting it may be worthwhile trading Kreuzer:

I'm happy for us to keep him as long as we have a plan that sees us get enough good footballers and get all the types we need within a timeframe that is short enough for all these individuals to create a successful football side. Just doing the maths and factoring in the natural improvement that will come (that sees the draft picks get higher) and a few draft busts that always happen, it seems difficult to build a premiership side by conservative trading and drafting. There are a few good footballers that losing will hurt us short term, no doubt, but also improve us in the long term, we've already lost one of these types with Henderson. The difference with us last time we were rock bottom and rebuilding to now is now we are at least talking about going in a modern direction and we have players to trade/let go and we have no draft sanctions. I think the opportunity is there to build our next premiership team if we are willing to take advantage of early draft picks, trade aggressively and work to obtain high picks but it's going to take a lot of new young and very good players coming into our club over the next few years and so forth to be the best side in the AFL which I'm sure all of us want. There is a system in place that if we use well, the opportunity to rise that high is realistic but to be become better than the other clubs we need to be better than them off field and that comes to how clever we trade, how well we draft and how brave we are with our list management. Interesting times ahead for sure, as long as no one is pulling Silvagni's strings I think you can guarantee he'll have a big crack at doing what's best for Carlton as he just appears to be a person who has a lot of confidence in being able to go out and get a young player and for them to work out, and why wouldn't he!

The important thing is that we have a rebuilding plan and make decisions accordingly. By that we need to know what sort of players we need to get to be premiership contenders and have a time frame and we have to know how we plan to bring those players into the club. It's important that we make decisions that improve the side/list in the long term and that our decisions that we make regarding players future aren't influenced by popularity, emotional attachment, membership or members and are made purely because to benefit the list long term and will have a positive influence on our long term success. Popular decisions are always a feel good but aren't always the right decisions. In regards to Kreuzer, lets look at our players like stocks which they effectively are more or less, he's at the peak of his career and probably won't ever be worth any more than he currently is but in saying that we would really have to be getting something very good in return. We should leave no stone unturned in our quest for good footballers and our ultimate goal and that is building a side that can win a premiership. There are still plenty of steps we need to take to become a modern football club and acting, trading, recruiting, playing and list management is all a big part of how we shape our future. There are no right and wrong decisions in regarding who we trade or let go until we know what we will gain, at this stage leaving player contracts open until we do know is a good sign of a little professionalism showing at Carlton. We would look very foolish if we sign a ruckman at the expense of obtaining a center half forward or a top level onballer so we're best to enquire.

It's a long button in the middle at the far right of the keyboard... seriously.

Yeah/nah/maybe. Been rumoured for a while. While he hasn't seen too much success at Melbourne (who has) or Essendon* (who cares), he had a good coaching record at Adelaide and has a very diverse skill set (coaching, fitness-conditioning, administration) and qualifications (MA in Education, Sport Science). Would prefer to see Craig on staff rather than Buttifant.

I reckon he'd be a good get for your mob, he's an astute operator.

Whats great is that SOS has had a full season to judge the list, and a season of adversity and tension to boot, so he will have a good chance to know the mice from the men.

Gawd, I would love to see the whiteboards on the walls of the SOS war room. I bet there are names on the "Try to get" section that would have us salivating. Chopping block and reasoning behind the choices there would also be very interesting.

Anyway, you can bet SOS and BB have had a good chat about the great big picture the former has painted there, and BB has his brush ready to collaborate on it.

The Neil Craig coaching director rumour from a while ago may come to pass after all.

If we're into Sicily, perhaps we may be keen on a trade involving Yaz.

Yaz + 56 for Sicily + 16?

He'd certainly get the opportunity - him and Yaz would be nice in the same F50.

His Hawks profile says this:

A high half-forward with great hands and a penchant for the spectacular, Sicily showed a bit in his first season on the Hawthorn list, with 20 goals in 18 games for Box Hill. Has a bit of flair about him as well and will become an immediate fan favourite when he gets his first game for the Hawks.

A 20 year old forward who's been killing it for the VFL minor premiers with a connection to Bolton; likely to come very cheap and most importantly is a known goal scorer. With us having lost so many of these in recent seasons (Betts, Garlett, Waite, Robbo, Hendo) - it's a smart move if we can pry Hawks' first for Yaz.
Signed a 2 year deal earlier this year. Will probably play this weekend as well, so it'll take a bit. Our out of contracts are Hale, Whitecross, Hartung, Suckling, Schoenmakers, Grimley and we're not sure on Simpkin.

Grimly a 200cm KPF agile, promising looking for more opportunity just what we're crying out for and Hawks pick 16 would get the deal done for me.
Ciao
Grimley you could get for free just by offering a senior spot. He's leading the goalkicking in the VFL and won it last year as well. Does some amazing things but can then look pretty lazy.

He'll fit right in!

He is very astute operater

I assume Trigg is driving this?

My recollection of Craig's time at Adelaide was he was very good tactically, he got the team really fit but he drove them too hard and the players revolted (not sure if accurate).

If so, he'd be a good get as Director of Coaching. Would have good ideas about strategy and fitness but with a buffer between him and the players....
