I think if you asked Grundy on Grand Final morning “what is the most important thing to you?”
He would probably answer “well today…it’s 100% win this grand Final…I’m going to give my all” “But ask me next week…& maybe it is family & friends, world peace, say no to drugs?”

It is interesting watching the language difference between Grundy and JDG just watching Fly’s press conference

It’s hard to hear the questions due to sound but he’s very open with “I said that after the game and I’ll say it again today” - in regards to De Goey staying

Next question about Grundy “it’s challenging for Brody” “we’ll look after him in the short term” “we can’t control the narrative”

As I said it’s hard to hear the questions but I’m certain one was around him staying next year, it’s clear they want him out if you ask me, I think some may need to get used to it
Sounds like Grundy is expected to go.

Maybe you should think about that for a minute, we lose the ruck duel yet win the game but when Grundy plays he’d win the hitouts 60-10 and yet we’d lose the game…

Then tell us how a ruckman is worth $7 million…

We don't know if we'd lose the game with Grundy or win by even more. You just assert that Cameron/Cox is a better combo than Grundy/Cameron or Grundy/Cox. But it's just an assertion. I could just as easily assert that we'd win by more because we'd do much better in the clearances.

Gerard Whately, for example, said on his radio show yesterday: "Imagine if they get really close but beaten in the ruck and they think, 'If only we had a premier ruckman like Grundy.' He's arguably the second best ruckman in the competition."

Okay, you disagree with me and others -- including Whately, Cornes, and other independent commentators. That's fine. We disagree.

Or say yes to drugs. Oh, sorry, getting confused about which player we're talking about.

Isn't it $300k of Treloar and reputedly $400,000 of Grundy?
$400000 a year for Grundy now! We sure know how to splash money about with gay abandon. I would rather play him at the coalface and extract every ounce of energy from him in our team than finance his presence somewhere like Geelong or Melbourne.

I am not sure that I want a most highly paid player who is blasé about winning premierships, sooks about hub life and spends his time at the club campaigning against drugs. I want someone who would give both testicles for a premiership and desires nothing more in life than playing for and with the boys.

Quick update for everyone. It's now $350k for Treloar and $500k for Grundy as at 2.08pm AEST 12/08/2022.

Wow!

At what point is it better for them to just pay me a one off million dollars to take Brodie for a visit to a "pony farm"?

I mean, accidents happen. Especially with ponies...

There no doubt Grundy is overpaid. But the idea of paying other clubs up to $700,000 a year for 3 years and then $400.00 for another 2 sends shivers down my spine. It's fckn insane too.
No argument there but that's the position his current contract has left us in - he's publicly stated he won't take a pay cut and to continue to pay him his full contract we lose DeGoo.

This is the path of greed.

There's no doubt that Grundy is less than totally committed to his career - let alone Collingwood.

So it's only fair that it goes both ways.

That'll be extra so now we are up to $350,000.50 for AT and $500,000.50 for Grundy.
You sound like you have an app that tells you up to the minute information on how much of Treloar's and Grundy's contracts the club has to pay after they're traded.

"as at 2.08pm AEST 12/08/2022" your app was showing $350K and $500K respectively. By 2;49pm (when you next posted) those figures had increased 50c each. Heavens, by trade period I shudder to think what the figures will be.

OK, so no source. Just you making some sort of point, got it.

The big issue is that we're unlikely to want to use him as a linking mid, so getting the best out of him is unlikely to involve one of the things that made him dominant and separated him from other rucks.
His huge tank is a clear advantage that is not matched by any Ruckman- so it’s a dominant attribute that persists against any opponent.

So now you want to keep De Goey?

I believe it was an attempt from TheGreatSwan at Observation Comedy:
"Pokes fun at everyday life, often by inflating the importance of trivial things or by observing the silliness of social conventions."
In this case pointing out the numerous reported amounts that seem to inflate everytime someone mentions them.

Does anyone know the contract and cap ramifications if Grundy is not cleared as fit enough to play on and fulfill his contract ?
PCL - ok - but stress fracture in the ankle - not good for a ruckman.

Oh, I see, thanks for explaining. Too subtle for me, sometimes I'm too literal.

You better ring NM and tell them not to sign Clarkson, because he too said there’s more to life than Premierships.

TBH never got the impression from Brodie's public statements that his emotional connection to the club and footy was all that intense at the best of times, so not sure how massive an issue this supposed emotional disconnection is? Suggest we arent talking black and white but shades of grey at most.
