Sorry mate, you're spinning it.

"Fleeced the gutless simpletons" is emotionally charged language. It's not factual in any way, it's just your opinion.

Yes, we already said that his contract is a burden. No dispute there. The rest is quite simply, you venting.

If we can't do any better than that, the thread will be locked.

While there is obviously a slight emotional component that comes with such a statement - after all if we weren't at least somewhat emotionally invested, then it would be irrational to even consider oneself a fan at all. But it's mostly just a clear-eyed statement of reality. And sometimes reality is harsh.

It's not just hindsight that many of us are using to despair about that potentially list-killing contract, any of us who had any sense knew what a disaster it was at the time.

I accept the need to tone down language - I did state that even the people I am annoyed at don't deserve actual hate, so a couple of unkind words shouldn't be blown out of proportion. And we shouldn't use excessive pearl clutching as an excuse to suppress criticism of the club.

The personal attacks on Grundy claiming he's cynical and or a flake are ridiculous. He's a great player.

Some of this crap reads like trolls stirring rather than reasonable debate.

You're handle is very descriptive.
Thanks for conceding maturely. I agree your points were emotive rather than factual. I share some of the emotions.

Better off locking it up. There’s always an element that want to see Pies players fail. For whatever reasons, weird. Must’ve run over their dog, grandmother, pet cat Chuck or *ed their mum.

Not Chuckys.
Lock it up?! The media are driving this thread as they appear to have information suggesting that several clubs are interested in him and Collingwood are prepared to bleed the club dry again to supplement his salary by a mere $300000 a year. If not for the strong rumours, I doubt that many posters would be bothered commenting on him given he is gone for the season.

As for talk of closing the thread, I can't think of a more unreasonable action in the circumstances. The guy is topical and generates comment, so to close the thread would seem an action more appropriate to China or Russia than the world's greatest democracy and once most liveable city.

Not sure how that will improve his contested marking.
There will be a metamorphosis from within, and suddenly his kicking foot and punching fist will discover an accuracy they have never known, while his arms will rise and clutch the ball like no other ruckman before him. A new club will rejuvenate him, sweeping away the bookish looks and replacing them with a steely grimness borne of a new found desire to define his life with premierships. And we will pay $300000 a year x 5 to witness this transformation.

Lies by omission - conveniently fails to acknowledge Game Plan as the far greater contribution to our success than the Cox/Cameron combo.

The game plan that is helped by proper ruckmen instead of a ruckman who gets taps to his own feet?

Hi TD. It has been reported that some were happy for him to be traded, Grundy said he would on stay in Victoria for 7 years, the Footy Dept was only prepared to offer a maximum of 5 years, and then it was announced we had accepted 7 years. So somebody reportedly overruled the Footy Dept

Guess that be Dictator Eddie

As we saw in the first 5 weeks of the season...
yep. Grundy's last qtr against St Kilda went a long way to us winning the game.
Same as against Essendon.

While Cox, as a forward-ruck has kicked 4 goals in 13 games.

Just imagine if Grundy was playing the past 14 games. Probably wouldn't have needed to dig in and come from behind to snatch victories.
After all, we won our clearances in most of those games he played in and not much since he has been out.

Please quote me a single commentator who has suggested Cox/Cameron have had a bigger impact on our success, than Fly and the new Coaches, together with the new game plan.

Sadly your narrative is an uninformed argument, naively proffered to bag Grundy.

What a ridiculous statement. They’re the combination that have taken us to 11-0.

More importantly why do you hate them so much. To suggest they’ve had no influence on the wins.

That’s a very poor stance you’re taking. Assuming that Grundy would have been better…

He wasn’t and they were. I know you’re disheartened by the notion of Grundy leaving. You’ll get over it and love these two boys in his place.

“They’re the combination that have taken us to 11-0”.

An awful lot of credit you’re giving to them.

Game Plan and Fly are overwhelming the reasons for our success. Cox and Cameron have done well but it’s absurd to credit their contributions as exceeding that of the former.
