Cameron went off the boil after those initial games where he took over. He might be adequate.
As you know, he’s currently favourite for the Blair Memorial Trophy, although Frampton is closing fast.

There seems to be two shifts working in this joint - the winter shift who wanted grundy out of the club and the summer shift who wants him back....

Either that or its one of those TV shows where they bitch about their current boyfriend and then when he leaves, they pine for their ex...
Winter is coming :p

Frampton will need new bios to work...he's wired to take easy marks and not much else. Cameron took marks in those few weeks where he was good and then vanished. Look at his mark progression through the year. Explain that one to me...

You’re not serious are you.

JDG is our best player. If injuries play no impact on him this year. He will be a big reason why we succeed. Soy Boy is not in the same league as JDG.

Lol JDG our best player? If so how many Copeland's has he won? How many times has he finished in the top 3 of our BnF even? How many AAs?

Sure, JDG has the potential to be our best player. But he's also our most inconsistent player and has never strung it together in a full season. He's less credentialed than Jake Stringer.

You're right that Grundy is not in the same league as JDG. Grundy's proven that he has what it takes to be in a league above.

Apples and Oranges.

Mitchell ISN'T the same type of player, he's a coal face mid, Degs is not that - he's a burst mid, and pretty good at it (understatement). Better value than Grundy coz Mitchell fills a need, we don't need superstar rucks. Cox / Cameron sufficient enough

I'm sure you won't be lamenting keeping Degs when he wins the norm smith.

Of course I won't lament JDG if he wins the norm smith. I would love nothing more than for him to fulfil his potential. But to date at 27 years of age he has won nothing in his career. No AA, no BnFs, not even a Top 3 BnF. And yet we seem to be happy to give him a 5 year $800k contract when he held out re-signing over behavioural clauses and threatened to move to St Kilda to leverage a larger contract. Not to mention he's been overpaid at $800k p.a. for years prior.

Meanwhile we seem to make Grundy like Collingwood public enemy no 1 when at the same age as JDG he signed a big contract after being 2x AA and 2x Copeland winner. Also whilst taking unders at $500k p.a. for years prior until he had fully earned that contract.

Because of the potential, I'd agree if has performed poorly, but he hasn't, he's had a great 2022. 3rd best in finals player.

Have we paid over? Yeah sure. But there's very good argument that the type of player Degs is is better for us than Grundy on overs.

You mean the club? Us fans? In any case that's a broad brush, I wouldn't expect the club has.
after being 2x AA and 2x Copeland winner.
And has done not much since, all at great cost to the club
Also whilst taking unders at $500k p.a. for years prior until he had fully earned that contract.
Was he paid unders when in AA form? Sure was, that doesn't change the fact that our list was deficient in certain areas, ruck isn't one of them.

You can win flags with an average or poor ruck setup. Richmond won 3, Geelong had no rucks until last year. Brisbane did a 3peat with an average set of rucks. Hawks won their 3 peat without anything special

You call Nankervis average or poor? Obviously not sexy enough for you....

JDG's "great 2022" saw him finish 10th in our BnF. Grundy's "not much since" he signed his contract start of 2020 saw him finish 7th and 6th in our BnF excluding 2022 when he was injured for most of the year.

We seem to judge Grundy harshly based on the high standards he's set himself and JDG with rose coloured glasses because of his potential. Maybe similar to how supporters sometimes judge Pendle's contribution.

Im referring to supporters that devalue Grundy's contributions to the club and treat him like he did wrong by the Pies like Henry/Beams/Thomas. Just seems so salty when it was the club that pushed him out.

I've got a feeling Frampton might steal that one from him really soon.

Cameron is quite similar to Nankervis. We have a similar style to the Tigers. Just need Jordy to realise his potential
I keep patently waiting for him to have that breakout year, I keep seeing the glimpses of the talent but then sometimes it's not there hopefully this year he'll kick on and have a great season and be up there in the best players for the club.

He played forward for us in our practice match. And he kicked what, one? I think it's silly to compare the two. Grundy is a 2-time AA. Let's not set Cameron up for failure. He's a solid B grade player, which may be all we need.
Grundy is an AA ruckman.
He has just been judged on kicking 3 goals playing forward.

If it was Gawn and Cameron in tandem yesterday, could Cameron have kicked 3 goals in the forward line yesterday? Probably. He does has a record of kicking multiple goals playing forward.

I agree Grundy is a far better ruckman than Cameron. However, my comment said nothing about the ruck. It was that Cameron may have also kicked 3 goals playing forward in that game, as he has done previously.

No need to get worked up.

Do you think Grundy was on unders at $500k before winning his AAs? I don’t. But his AA years elevated him to probably more like Gawn’s salary of $800k pa.

Unfortunately, once that contract was signed, we never saw a $1m pa player. 2019 was 3 seasons ago. Today, he is probably a $650k pa ruckman.

Good thing there's not many of that type of supporter.

Amongst decent folk their word is their bond. Just because you can stiff someone it doesn’t make it right.
I think covid had a big impact on Grundy. Just wasn’t the same in 2020 & 2021.
