No doubt he is a great asset in the ruck. I just think your wasting his talent and value playing him forward for 50% of the time. The same goes for Gawn. I'm just not sure what value they get out the pair in this situation.
Might get a couple of extra years to their careers.

Probably because there were no decent targets and zero trade value in terms of picks to offer up last year. That and fly wants a decent look at his young players before throwing big money at somebody we might or might not need.

And because it’s not a huge chunk after netting it against the Mitchell subsidy

The club would think we are in contention for 2023, it's completely illogical to take an extra salary cap hit when ur playing list is in contention for a flag.

And the Mitchell subsidy also says hi to the Treloar payments.

It is being done that way as the club want it done this year. Then we are clear to chase next few years free agents.

The Treloar payments are also ending/ diminishing soon. The net result of Grundy ( up front), Mitchell ( one year but a lot), and Treloar ( probably lower than last year if it’s not completely gone already) is likely to be pretty immaterial.

Not sure why you are hung up on this premiership window talk. We picked up 3 players of need plus a depth kpp to help take us that next step. Paying a Grundy salary subsidy up front didn’t undermine that, and hasn’t denied us a big name player that was non existent anyway. It just clears the decks as soon as possible.

Has that claim above about most of Grundys contract being paid out this year been reported anywhere else? This forum is the only place I’ve heard of that.

We put ourselves into a savings model by cutting all our depth and replacing them with cheap kids. That savings model is beginning to wear off as the big influx of kids have risen in salaries. Whilst still in that model, it's the last opportunity to wipe out our bad contract debts.

But when you make a prelim you would instantly change from savings mode to win premiership mode... not continue for another year in savings mode ? Savings mode is for teams rebuilding, not making top 4.

I recall hearing it at the time of the trade, can’t remember where, (sorry).

Mcstay Mitchell and Hill were brought to the club for that exact reason… frampton too for a lesser extent.

The beams deal in theory was fine, bringing in a good player when we’re in a premiership window… the problem was we didn’t need midfielders and he was an unstable mess with drug and gambling addictions.
Not naming where he might have fitted in quite well

We were pretty average around the clearances that year, Sier could barely manage 60% of game time, Treloar wasn’t going to be the same player after his double hammy, Sidebottom played as a main on baller and whilst he did pretty well it wasn’t going to be sustainable and our wingers were Chris Mayne and Tom Phillips. Midfield was definitely an area that needed investing into we just picked the absolute worst option to do that.

Because he is omniscient

I have a greater responsibility than you can possibly fathom. You weep for Soy Boy, and you curse those who’ve wanted him gone. You have that luxury. The luxury of the blind. The luxury of not knowing what I know: That Soy Boy’s departure, while tragic, probably saved the side. And my existence, while grotesque and uncomprehensible to you, supports the side.

You can’t handle it….Because deep down, in places you don’t talk about, you want me on this board. You need me this board. I have neither the time nor the inclination to explain myself to a man who rises and sleeps under the blanket of information I provide, then questions the manner in which I provide it. I’d prefer you just said thank you and went on your way. Otherwise, I’d suggest you lift your game and put more attention to what you post…..

Were we on the brink of collapse last season? Must have missed that
