So Cloke confirmed out and now Campbell and Toyd in doubt. If they both miss we are seriously down on talls.
Crameri despite not being ready or deserving a spot yet needs to come in for Cloke. Just for the bigger body. If campbell is indeed out then English gets a debut and i wouldn't be against brining NMM fir Toyd if he is out.

We don't really know the state of all of the injured players. Tom Boyd, Tom Campbell, Crameri and Cloke may all be unavailable.

Considerations

Tim English
This young fella can do it all. Take the big mark, get the ruck hit-out, scrummage on the ground on all fours, dodge and weave on a run, kick straight short and long, good handball, smart player. A big guy with little guy skills. He has the lot except for weight, strength and experience. In the VFL last week he got out-bustled often, but a lot of that I reckon was illegal interference that the Box-Hill guy just got away with. The rest of the Box Hill guys got away with illegal blocks all over the ground too.

Lipinski
A goal in each quarter, looks impressive, has the right build. Good at kicking, marking and tackling. Might get a game. Looks the goods.

Webb
I thought that he was our best for Footscray. He kicked a 60 meter goal. Tough guy now. Can he run like the other boys run. I'd like to see that.

Caleb
I am still worried that he may still be thinking that the aim of footy is to see how fancy you can pass the ball to your teammate. Much like many of the team must have thought when we played Fremantle. Caleb played well for Footscray but I'd like to see him in the two's for another week and see him start driving forward himself.

Biggs and Williams
Both played OK in the two's. Possible call up.

Honeychurch, Lynch, Dale and Hamilton, all no.

Prudden
Good effort in first match for a while. Will need to improve from there.

Collins
Here is a big guy we could do with playing well. Needs to find a yard of pace.

Fletcher Roberts
I met him in the shop about a month ago and told him that I bought a fridge magnet with his picture on it. He said yea, probably only you and my mom in the whole of Australia. So I told him that he was our hero and will be for the next 1000 years. His 60 yard kick out of defence to within 3 yards of the boundary line in the last minute of that match against GWS last year got us into the Grand Final as sure as anything did.

I remember referring to him as a piece of 'wet fish' half-way through last year (I didn't say this to him though). Now I think that he has gone way past the wet fish tag and I now regard him as a 'serviceable player'.

So, my ins:

OUT: Cloke
IN: Lipinski

OUT: Campbell or T Boyd
IN: English

Not sure why English comes in? He would break in half out there. Not AFL ready and would likely be a liability to the team
The reason people are suggesting him is not so much his ruck work, we all know he'll get beaten in there, it's the other things that he brings, he's like another mid. The more games we pump into this guy the better.

I understand English is NOT physically ready for AFL rucking duties, BUT if all of Rough, BTC, Cloke, Red, Cram and Boyd, are n/a God forbid, the cupboard is bare !! Not just rucking but bereft of anything resembling a KPF too. I'd be tempted to give Tim a baptism of fire and play him as a deep KPF with an occasional chop out to I guess Zordy who would have to shoulder the ruck. It's only R5, and may help the kids development with the realisation of what he needs to do to be in the mix in 2018. Who knows. He may surprise. I mean if you are starving and the only thing u have in the fridge is an old bit of cheese and a few stale Savoys, you'd eat it rather than starve Let's just hope At least one of Boyd or BTC are ok to play.

The problem with Webb is he goes missing at AFL level. Honestly think Webb, Honeychurch and Bailey Dale won't make it. Just my opinion!

Be aware folks, Crammers played HALF a game on the w/e. Half a VFL game.

On VFL form, only Daniel, Williams and perhaps Lipinski could be considered

I thought briefly about an English debut ,but only as predominantly Kpf, and only if BOTH Cloke and Boyd were n/a

Suckling & Moyd probs only 2 in the gun the former got better in 2nd half, the latter will be there for the Captains 300th.

I watched the Footscray match as well
Crameri wasn't outstanding in the time he was on the ground - can't see MC taking the punt on kim
Daniel was good without dominating
Williams gets plenty of it, but is a bit wasteful and loose - at the moment he gives me the impression he is trying to be too creative with his ball use
Lipinski shows some really silky moves [good hands] and was certainly in our best - but at the moment he doesn't have the body of work behind him to justify a step up to the big time.
English marked and moved well and was able to adjust his center bounce tactics to become competitive with the two, vastly more experienced, Hawk big boys.At boundy throw-ins and other ball ups Tim was rediculously out muscled but continued to provide a real contest - we have a good one here!
Webb was the pick of the crop for mine - hard at it all day, he won and used the ball well in close and marked and kicked well around the ground. Has been there or thereabouts in all preseason outings and would be my first cab of the rank if the MC were looking to bolster medium defender [Moyd] or onball stocks [Dunkley, Smith, Libba]
Biggs was unobtrusively effective, but probably needed to do a bit more to demand his spot back
Young, Greene and M&M all showed encouraging glimpses of why they were recruited and I look forward to seeing how they develop as the season progresses.

For me only one change at senior level - Cloke out Webb in

If Picken played off a 6 day break from Perth last week, T.Boyd should play after an 8 break with no travel. T.Boyd will most likely play.

English not AFL ready (physically) and sending him out against hulks like Martin and Mumford is setting him up for failure and injury. Unfair on the kid.

I know it's an unpopular opinion in the VFL thread but I think giving English a crack at senior level this week would be a great time to do it. Even if Campbell and Boyd both are available I'd pick all 3 and that Allows English to only ruck when Martin is very tired or against one of Brisbane's chop out option. Obviously English's mobility is ridiculous for his size so it won't be as if we lack mobility if we picked all 3.

Let's assume that Boyd and Campbell are both available. I think the inclusion of English would give more responsibility for Boyd to play as the main tall target which I think we should be doing whilst Cloke/Redpath are unavailable. Another reason for this is that I'd drop Cordy for a game or two and let him play permanently forward at VFL level and see if he can bag some goals and eventually return to the senior team to play last years role (until Cloke is available).

Against a lesser side in Brisbane I think it's worth a try.

Ins
English, Lipinski

Outs
Cloke, Cordy

So many are gun shy and conservative because of Ayce.If English can take marks play him l reckon.Behind Campbell he will be fine.
No offence but Ayce has nothing to do with anything.

Did you actually watch the game? Mclean was undeniably one of our best. Why don't you just omit Bont, Dahl and Macrae while you're at it? I know this is all personal opinion and it means nothing but I just don't understand how people come up with this garbage.

A bit off topic but can anyone tell me why our vfl game would be scheduled for 5pm when our vfl game probably only finishes at 4.30. Surely there has to be a better way...? Must be awkward for the club to allocate resources on the day too, not to mention difficult for supporters who want to watch both games...
