Then I must be stupid because I don't see him doing much else.

Everywhere mannagh has played he has been a midfielder that attacks forward rather than a specialist small forward. I am not sure why we would think he is one now.

Dangerfield, Guthrie, Conway, Tuohy and O.Henry will all be available after the bye. If you think we are going to see some baby/bathwater action you are going to be disappointed.

Agree we'll get those guys back, but wouldn't be surprised to see Tuohy phased out - he missed 4 games prior to the bye due to being managed & sore

Wouldn't be surprised if he's one of the veterans to make way for a younger option over the second half of the season

Hopefully we get a look at Humphries at some point.

It will be good to see O Henry back, can’t help but feel we would have jagged us a couple more with him when we had momentum in the 1st, parts of the 3rd & the end of last. Not the most desperate player but he knows how to get on the end of a chain and keep the scoreboard ticking over. You always need a hungry forward 😆

And he’s not missing that one that Blics missed for example.

We didn't play Danger because the club has decided to eliminate all risk. They know more than any of us ever will. 4 flags in under 20-years, lets actually back the judgement calls of people that know what they're doing and have the runs on the board.
I was questioning whether there was more to it - doesn’t meant they get every call right regardless. Have got many wrong like all clubs do.

Stanley is so bad I seriously want Rohan plonked into the ruck sometimes when Conway isn't playing.

From memory, he got a few runs in there last year and had a positive impact.

The taps are already out the window... might as well have some extra power/competitiveness in there.

I almost feel sorry and embarrassed for Stanley these days.

P.S. Were there people here saying TDK wasn't an upgrade on Stanley last year?

Stanley is not even competitive. He needs to spend the rest of the year in the twos. I’d rather play Furphy.

Will be interesting how we structure up post Bye.
I think we've had a look at the 3 talls ( Hawk/Neale/Cameron) and won't persist. I'm a huge Neale fan but he picked a bad game to be non competitive , his lack of aerial presence was poor. He has to wait for Hawk to retire for a full time gig.

So I think we revert back to Cameron and Hawk with Cameron playing forward. OH and Rohan to be the 3rd tall.

The Cameron wing experiment has been found out IMO , he's far better starting as a forward and working up the ground as required. He gets a different type of opponent and allows us to play a more traditional wing. I don't think playing Jezza and Blitz on the wings did us any favours yesterday.
I think we'll look hard at Knevitt or Mannagh post bye , we need another endurance type to work between the arcs and maintain pressure.
We need to force turnovers - we are deadly at scoring from opposition turnovers, pressure needs to be our one wood.

Has it all …except a 24 hour airport and shops and bars open past 5.00…not to mention the insane prices on houses

Take away the beaches and bay and Sydney has nothing but hills just like Qld
Huh? All-night bars where I lived in Paddington and the nearby X.

You can't take away the beaches and harbour, so that bit of your comment makes no sense.

Insane house prices, yes, but that's par for the course these days in Austraya, unfortunately.

Blicavs is clearly carrying an injury of some kind. He'll be better after the bye, and it's probably the reason we didn't seriously consider challenging his suspension.
Wouldn’t have gotten off anyway.
Clark on the other hand…. I still can’t believe we didn’t challenge that.

Ok sure, and maybe I'm missing something, but his work outside f50 looks the same to me as Miers or Close. Starting forward and running up to the contest as an extra wing like Miers or Close.

I admit I haven't watched all his vfl games but, what am I missing?

That pretty much describes what I've seen from him when wearing the Hoops in the VFL

I know others have suggested he can play through the midfield, but it's not something we've seen from him during his time with us

I'd rather play Knevitt and Mannagh well ahead of Clark atm. I also don't think Clark will make it unfortunately, I know that will upset the fanboys, but happy to be proven wrong. He should be in the VFL, even if he was Pick 1!
I think it's a bit early to write Clark off. It's clear he hasn't yet got the size or tank and prob should be in the 2s at moment, but it would appear the club have made the decision to get games into him.

There's every chance he won't be a gun, but I think he'll be a slow burn type that will take time and eventually be a 200 game player

I lived in Paddington as well, back in the '90s. Underwood Street, great area.

Sydney definitely more clique-y than Melbourne but also wilder + great beaches, of course. Melbourne more open and friendly but not as much to offer. Sydney has it all.
Underwood Street is great, so close to everything. Paddington in the 90s ROCKED!!!

Lol 😂 I'd love to know what part of Melbourne is the Paris part...

I'm not sure how frequently the names/titles are still used, but it used to be that Collins St had the "Paris end" which was the shopping area with the designer boutiques, cafes etc

And the other end became known as the "New York end" which was more the business district

I still hear them used on occasions, but not sure how many would necessarily understand them

Not only fresh off one bye - they've had two byes and no five day breaks in the first half of the year. No wonder they can run out games as well as they do with a fixture like that.
Put a few swannies on ignore as they were trying to argue we've had a bye. A week off before your season starts is not a bye. Pre finals bye isn't one for North. It's Mad Monday.
Cameron needs to decide whether he still has the fire in the belly. Because atm he’s playing bruise free, unaccountable footy with little impact. His lack of defence (which granted has never been his one wood) is now really hurting us.
Don't agree. It to me appears to be a coaching and instruction problem. We saw late what happens when stationed inside 50. Two good marks and the two good goals.
Sorry but were you watching with the TV turned off? Thats a poor take
I'd give him Holmes only.
Who's going out for Dangerfield?
Whoever it is, I hope Scotty sits them down for a long chat and carefully explains how stiff he is to miss.

/Sarcasm.
no doubt we will go hard to improve it in the off season.
I doubt we will. Cupboard of options is bone dry.
CS needs to look elsewhere to fix the midfield problem and can't just keep doing what we are doing.
But he will, and I'll get frustrating continuously.

Also started randomly thinking about Bews last night. Who has he lost his place for. It's none of Guthrie, Henry, Stewart, SDK, Kolo as they were already locks in the team. Have we really ended Jed's cats career for someone like Clark, Mullin, MOC calibre to get more games? Stiffest bloke in the club right there, so many other vets getting regular games and he's cut loose for that lot.
Geelong are way off the pace and have probably fallen behind Hawthorn this year.
Why do you always take it one step to far?
Behind Hawthorn lol what!?!?
Only when it is kicked onto his chest. He's a liability
He concerns me, struggling to see snippets that show he could make it. Has too big a fan club on here IMO

Why do you think we have him playing as a small forward in the VFL when in the past he’s played midfield with great results?

I’m struggling to understand why we’ve traded him in at 26 years of age if we are going to play him as a small forward and not give him a run through the midfield.

From what others have said, he just hasn’t got the tank to play more game time yet.

You can pretty much apply this to our midfield as a whole. Bruhn/Holmes/Bowes/Dempsey are all quite promising and I'm more bullish on them as a collective than others, but realistically they're 2-3 years away from having the fitness and maturity to go with better midfields for four quarters. It's a huge part of the reason we're routinely conceding 5-6 unanswered goals across 10-15 minute periods. Yes, the lack of a Dangerfield/Selwood type coming through is undoubtedly the biggest elephant in the room as far as our midfield is concerned, but the consistency throughout games will come as that group gains experience.

So whose decision is it to play Cameron as an ineffectual meandering ball gatherer? It's pretty obvious he is more dangerous as a forward.

Think "ineffectual meandering ball gatherer'' is a bit harsh, played some damn fine games in that role, but now it looks to me like he's running on fumes at times, and it's time he returned to the role where he's most productive/effective. Only time he looked really dangerous on Saturday was in the last quarter when he was playing forward and snared two goals.

Used to be Kitty. It is now a far cry from the city I grew up in. It's like a gigantic carpark surrounded by vacant highrise crapholes.
That's so sad :disrelieved: I usually only go to MCG + stay somewhere close. In 2011 went to GF parade, found a car park right on the parade route :joycat: I thought it was beautiful. Love the trams.

Hopefully we get a look at Humphries at some point.

The guys in the VFL I'd love to get a lot at in the seniors are Humphries, Clohesy and when he builds his tank we can in add Stevens - plus add Mannagh to the mix also

Willis has a little something to him, I love the passion but not sure how he fits in

Parfitt has the workrate but it's trying to work out his role in the seniors as him & Atkins play very similar roles. While Knevitt seems to thought of as a utility style player - that may be helping to round his development to an extent, but I'd like to see him focused on a core role to help him push for a senior recall

Allows them to build fitness and be so fresh for the second half of the year. It's their year for sure.

I look at Willis contested work and get real excited but then he's parked mostly forward.

I wonder if they're trying to protect his body for a full year, or if they're trying to teach him a second position they can debut him in? Both?

Hate this take.

I agree that I’d like to see Knevitt play, think he’s shown a lot and adds a different element.

But on Clark, he is 19, missed a year of footy and has shown a bit in his games. Went back to the VFL and dominated 🤷🏻‍♂️ Kid has played 12 games, way too early to make predictions on his future.

Are we forgetting Zuthrie and Dempsey?

I like the look of Willis too, he has been very fragile so maybe you’re right? Would love to see him get a real run at it
