Can I ask....

.... what type of result we would be thinking is likely from these 3 games 3-0, 0-3 ... ? 2 out the 3 games are against possible GF teams... ... I have to say it will be a difficult group of games... and as we have not won 2 in a row for ages ... 1 out 3 is plausible.
1 out of 3 would probably be a good result.

This was always a chance of happening, which is why we needed to make the most of the KP games. The Carlton game was the opposite of that. No one can say we didn't have a chance to take advantage of our own home ground advantage and get a head start.

The KP Gold Coast game coming will not be a push over. I can only hope now that the team will be able to see the approaching burden and knuckle down. They need to win 3 straight from now on or the season may be over by the time we com back from Perth.

It's 14 days. you leave Saturday after St Kilda, play Pies in the middle weekend (week 1) and then come out of quarantine on Saturday and play Sunday v WA team (week 3).
The Vic teams have to spend two weeks in quarantine, but they can play each other in that two weeks is what I heard on AFL 360. Which means they could play each other on the first weekend. Then the second weekend, which would be the end of the two weeks quarantine, they can play the WA sides.

We're not, so we won't.

still undecided where we sit in 2020. Anywhere from 4th to 12 for me... too much ambiguity so far. Coronavirus has definitely hurt our chances. We are by far a well disciplined and structured defensive team. The loosening up of the coaching would have affected this and put back the emphasis on individual efforts and raw talent, as well as fitness. Which we don’t have as much as other sides do

lol back-peddling as per usual.

What happened to all that talk about us winning premierships and how we would be the powerhouse of the competition overtaking Hawthorn (who actually went on to win one more flag when you said that) ;)

I don't want you start with the excuses. You talk up the club and the coach something shocking. Let it rip and don't hold back geelong_crazy!

I disagree, I think we possess a fair amount of individual talent that is coached out of us. Was hoping COVID would force Scott to free the shackles, alas it appears not and to our detriment

on individual talent we are not a top four side. GWS bulldogs collingwood Richmond at minimum ahead. A lot of our top tier players are also well over the hill now and don’t have the abilities they used to and has been that way for a while. Just my opinion you might differ but i can only count dangerfield and stewart Hawkins as genuine A graders in our team. Selwood is well past it.

The shackles have been freed. The players are not bein extensively coached this season, staff cutbacks have made then all part time and they also have limited ability to interract with the players for drills at training.

And what we are seeing as a result is a more raw geelong and other teams where its more individual ability as opposed to systens and structures.

Its not a coincidence our defense looked that terrible on the weekend

I predicted many years we would be a top four side and a strong competitive one and at worst called us shots for premierships which we were, and argued with pessimists such as yourself and the other extremes on here who year after year predicted the great fall of geelong from the top 8, then when they goproven wrong kept shifting thr goal posts like cowards to ” well we didnt win a flag so i am still right”. I was probably the only one close to or spot on the money.

As one poster put it just before we will see geelong ”unshackled” this year with less coaching structures from scott as everythings been cut back and they are part timers now. And what we have seen is more raw talent. And its an old slow defense that has been badly beaten and a lack of speed and general kicking skills. Alot of which great coaching covered up but i am afraid wont be anymore and we will be ”unshackled”

So we go interstate. Hopefully not a repeat of the spent a week extra on the gold coast and then lost. Lock them up, no beaches, lounging around pools or families to distract them. Only allowed out for training

0/3 would be disappointing but not too unexpected.

1/3 would be a pass.

2/3 would be good and I'd be very happy.

3/3 would be a huge over achievement.

Geez that's a leg up for West Coast, Ideally you want to play crap teams away and good teams at home and now they get to play 2 of last years prelim finalists at home.

If we only win 1 game I really hope its WC to help lower those picks of ours.

After all these years of us playing a home game at Collingwoods home ground surely it's time they played their home game at an away ground for once vs us.

I felt like this year's Pies Cats game should have been at Kardinia as it was perhaps the only chance

Ill be off now - I only came in here coz an Eagles supporter on the main board said you were all complaining about the Perth hub which you are not. So I can go back and tell him that now

Would have been nice, especially if they allowed 10k into the ground. What's the thoughts from the Pies camp, small sample size but you play the ground pretty well with a 2-1 result, and isn't it the closest ground size to the MCG? Probably explains why we're 0-2 at the ground haha

Who cares. Our home match against them is usually at their home ground. A neutral ground is still an objectively advantageous outcome compared to other years.

A 'home' match for us against them this year couldn't seriously have been played at the 'G, though. If it had been, surely it's time to just start calling it the EFL and be done with it.

I spose we should be sooking but I just can't really be bothered. Take what you can get footy wise in this crazy Covid season.

"Fairness" in a sport where every team doesn't just play each other twice, one team almost never plays any home finals at their actual home ground (and only a few can ever play the grand final at home) has never been evident. The rest is all minor semantics in comparison. This falls under that.
