I the past our strength is marking. Punching the ball to a ground contest would expose us as our weakness was contested ground ball.

So until we fix that the defenders won't be spoiling every ball.

Also at AFL level good defenders intercept mark every time they can. A defender who just spoils every time wont make it at this level. You lose ball control.

This is why we should be playing Hough, Foley, Duggan.

Hurn has become a liability and Witherden...he's a battler at best - we should only have one of these in the side. If Yeo is 'building fitness" put him back. I've cut Hurn - he's the poster child of what's wrong with how we try to move the ball out of defence. It hurts, the bloke is an out and out champion of our club but I think it's time for him to wind down. His influence is no longer the steadying force that glued our defence together.

B: Foley Edwards Witherden
HB: Duggan Barrass Yeo
C: Naish Redden Nelson
HF: Cripps Darling Rioli
F: Ryan Kennedy Langdon
R: Strnadica Shuey Kelly

I: Hough, Dixon, West, X'oN

I wouldn't object to sending Darling to the WAFL and bringing in Snake either. I'm presuming Gov isn't rushed back from Covid...probably wrong there.

We desperately need more run, more forward and midfield pressure. 6 talls only, trying to negate Port's talls with our cattle is futile, we need to play the game on a different axis.

Langdon and Jones you could probably throw a blanket over in terms of output. I left Langdon in as Jones looked a bit proppy at stages on Saturday. I actually prefer Jones as he plays with higher intensity overall.

I think the reality is Simpson is going to back in Shuey, Kelly, Yeo and Cripps. I think it's flawed for a range of reasons but that's what we have. I think that keeps Nelson safe for a week as we need some sort of defensive minded option available to run through when we start getting carved up like polony.

Not sure if this is inside goss or just a thought bubble from Barra

Barra is not the sharpest tool in the shed so I suspect he heard it from somewhere. He might of been listening into hard ball gets or someone on the radio.

Neither JK nor Jack are playing that well and hence Dixon to a KPF with a need for a second ruck.

Does Williams get another crack or is it Strnadica's turn?
Williams all the way stradnica doesn't have many AFL qualities.

Stradnica does well at wafl level because he is bigger than the other rucks . Once he doesn't have that advantage he is just a plodder .

No point at scraping a few more stoppages wins at the expense of not pumping games into BWilliams.

Ah bless him (Barra). Anyhow, maybe JK may well be managed this week and… (everyone don’t laugh) Mr Darling could be playing for the Beagles 😂

But will be good to see if Strnadica does get a go. Why not 👍
I would be pissed if they dropped Williams or Dixon.

Did you watch the game against Perth?

Gets around the ground well, provides a link up option, doesn’t try to do too much with his disposal. Can sneak forward for a goal as well. Very useful in general.

“Plodder” is unfair and inaccurate.

Let's see him in a game or two at the level. He could easily be a plodder. Meek is no world beater and Freo went with him ahead of our boy Luke.

Hopefully he has developed some and surprises.

So would I. Maybe JK or JD make way for Strnadica? (Dixon to CHF.)

Champs as they were we know what we now get from them (i.e. less and less). At least one game for Strnadica would give the MC some idea of whether to give him a few more. Then if he's shows he's a dud what have we lost?

Team announcement not far away, May as well have a pessimistic guess.

In: Petrevski-Seton
Out: Jones

B: Hurn, Barrass, Rotham
HB: Duggan, Edwards, Witherden
C: Redden, Shuey, Naish
HF: Rioli, Darling, Cripps
F: Ryan, Kennedy, Dixon
R: Williams, Kelly, Yeo
I: Foley, Nelson, Langdon, SPS
E: Strnadica, Jones, Waterman, Hough

Gov to miss if he’s not out of HSP yet.

Club will take the opportunity to make minimal changes for the first time all year. SPS to come in for Jones to give some extra midfield oomph. O’Neill to miss out again for reasons known only to the match committee. No rest for the old blokes.

Strnadica in the emergencies to keep Port guessing a bit.
