Dump all the expansion teams to 12 team comp and have a 24 round draw.
Even then comes finals you have inequity unless you ignore profits and play at the winners home ground.
I’d be making them play each team twice even with the current numbers, develop a squad mentality…that way every player on the list needs to pull their weight…watch the game slow down and become watchable, more contested and less about sprinting up and down the field. AFL would kill all the other sports consuming all the talent.

I don't understand the anti-Bianco sentiment going on, no change for me.

Brisbane showed last week that things can turn around very quickly, after they beat the Dees in a final away 3 weeks after getting belted by them at home.

Hopefully we do the same after our defeat to the Swans a few weeks back.

While I still think we're a genuine 50/50 chance against Sydney that loss to Geelong is getting more painful by the day.

We gave up our best opportunity to win the flag and now we'll have to do it the hard way.
Since the pre-finals bye was introduced the advantage of winning the qualifying final has been diminished.

TBH, I think that as things have turned out, we are actually in a better position now, rather than having won against Geelong in the QF. Given that we defeated freo so comprehensively, having played a tough, brilliant final against them and emerging without injury, this has raised our self belief to new levels. This, I think, is even better than if we had defeated Geelong, paradoxically. Had we won that game, we would have sat out the week, passively and not unleashing the physical energy and therefore the self belief.
Our chances of winning the flag have actually been improved by:
a) losing to Geelong by a wafer thin margin, which actually enraged us and enhanced our confidence levels
b) defeating Fremantle in such a comprehensive and constricting manner.
We go forward against the Swans, match hardened, and with consummate belief.
Go Pies.

Agree, well said except I prefer "......which actually energised us...."

I agree as well. Assuming we are fully fit, the extra game may have helped us. Certainly gave Jordy the opportunity to further build his form.

Clearly though, playing Brisbane at the MCG over Sydney away is a much better proposition.

Impossible to know from the outside which teams needed the rest and which would be better for the extra run. We all know that since the pre finals bye was introduced the QF winners have no longer had a monopoly on prelim wins.

I feel Swans in Sydney is the toughest possible option, even Geelong would be better, but we are a serious chance and our season says we'll give it a massive crack. No one's considering it, but I think Geelong are vulnerable against Brisbane. I think they're the team most likely to suffer from the time off and their midfield is a weakness.

Mason Cox for BOG - as a large contingent of his family are flying in from Texas!

I don’t think they should bring in another key position player (I.e. Krueger).

This game will be won and lost in the midfield. Pressure around the ball from both teams has been immense all year. Most entries will likely be chaos balls. And when we do get a clean entry opportunity, have to lower the eyes and avoid the McCartin bros.

Would prefer to keep Bianco on the wing and Josh Daicos in the centre. He played really well in there in round 22, and in the Semi. His clean hands will be crucial.

No pressure on us apparently…
To be honest, there really isn't. We shouldn't be in the prelim. Provided we don't embarrass ourselves, we'll receive praise for our season. If we make the Grand Final, it just goes to show how fast things in footy can change.
