Pretty sure Fly said Sidebottom is fine, he just had severe cramping

Hmmm, OK, didn’t realise it was just cramps.

I reckon Johnston needs to be picked but not sure who makes way. Doubt Reef gets dropped after a solid debut. Perhaps Henry gets a spell, maybe WHE or Noble with a bit of a re-shuffle?

Or perhaps he just replaces JDG if we inexplicably accept the suspension or don’t win on appeal?

Either way, I really want to see Johnston make his debut against WCE.

I think you have to promote Johnson after the game he played on the weekend.

They don't have to do anything unless there's an injury issue with someone in the team. If they were looking for a player to omit though based on form yesterday, Ginnivan would be the guy under the most pressure. Hard to justify his omission either off 1 poor game.

Clearly I wasn't being literal. Based on the three games, it'd be Henry. Despite pulling off some moments of brilliance, his ball handling has been well short of the mark.

WCE look terrible. I want to be confident... but trying to keep a lid on it.

Who are they getting back?

Definitely no Allen, Cripps, Yeo, Kelly, Sheed or Barass next week, and it's a wait and see on the others with the covid protocols. Not sure how many of those players actually had covid or were close contacts..

I think this is the answer too. The way the cats benefitted with the sub and we chose not to use ours was notable.

Having said that, Geelong have wasted a lot of list spots on ordinary footballers like Dalhous. The sub needs to be an up and coming player not middle aged deadwood 😀 . Fortunately we don’t have many of those after clean outs in the past two years

Geelongs old main list won them the game in the end. It still hasnt yielded any flags though. Our inexperienced players just need time on ground and in the gym.

I like that except I’d have Macrae play VFL and get the development minutes in rather than sit idle as sub…

C Brown or Wilson as sub instead

Frankly we need to invent an injury - I'm tipping a Clarkson is not dying wondering in such circumstances.
Bend the rules - every one else does it.
Don't disagree, but you need to get your club doctor onside. He is the one who has to make the assessment that a player is likely to be out for at least 12 days. Was just dumb luck that a bloke who had had 4 touches was the one to suffer a game-ending injury.

Are the AFL policing the 12 day rule?
I doubt it, otherwise there wouldn't be any shenanigans.

I would have subbed off Sidey, - he looked every bit a 12 day injury, and then let the AFL prove otherwise.

The Club has to submit a certificate within 24 hrs from the Medical Officer regarding the injury. Big stretch for a doc to do that for cramps.

Medico's should err on the side of caution - its a 12 day injury until proven conclusively to be cramps, which may not happen until the following day after thorough medical examinations including imaging. Having a conservative diagnosis is not a crime.

Let the AFL adjudicate otherwise.

I actually didn’t mind David King’s suggestion that once an opposition activates a medi-sub, then the other team can too. Might need a tweak or two - might not be fair if it’s an early sub.

The rule really should be that if one team has activated their medical sub, the other team is able to activate their sub, regardless of medical reasons - otherwise an injury can give your team fresher legs than the other team..

AJ for JDG. That's probably it.

Maynard and N Daicos to share extra mid time
I believe Wilson may come in for Madge. Trial him down back?? He has been playing well in the VFL. If I were Cameron, I'd be sweating a bit with Cox's three goals and HO work. We beat WCE with three ruckmen and their defence doesn't like Cox.

Wilson is tried and - at least for now - has failed as a back. He has only been shifted up forward this year and that's where he has began playing his best footy. I think we keep him in the 2s playing forward of the ball for now.

I think Madgen might be safe until Roughead is back.

I'm also open to Cox for Cameron.

Difficult to find a place for him but I think another good game should see him slide in.

Wilson asked to play forward after telling fly its where he can make the most impact, so I think thats where he stays.
