Naaaa

Port are way over-rated and over-hyped. Their list really is not that good.
Powaa should scrape into the 8 but they wont do anything. Their problem is that their midfield is young and if they cop some injuries(especially to key players) they don't have good depth. Basically the same as the crows. They do have a better coach and far superior list management and recruiting to us unfortunately.

Only their midfield looks very good and are 3 years ahead of ours but we are catching up to them. Their forward line, back line and ruck are on their last leg and their development in these area have been s**t compared to ours. Why do you think their SANFL reserve side has been s**t for years....

Unfortunately, midfield is kinda the most important area on the field. Agreed that their other lines have gaps but they are a hell of a lot easier to patch on the fly.

Ask Freo how easy it is to win games consistently with a very good midfield and average forwardline. Since when are forwardlines easy to patch on the fly?

Port’s midfield will win them a lot of games, but their lack of dominant key forwards could cost them some too. Will need to rely on a decent number of goals from the midfield, which Rozee, Butters and JHF are all capable of.

fixed that for ya cleanhands..

The continual selection of Murphy is the definition of insanity.
We would have been better off moving Sloane forward if they must play him and bringing in another mid such as Taylor. Move Hinge to a wing with Dawson on the other. Play a midfield of Laird, Bez, Soligo, Rachele, Taylor with a couple of bursts in their for Rankine and Pedlar.

Compare the pair: Thilthorpe/Murphy and ask which one has the highest long-term potential.
After the obvious answer, pick Thilthorpe before Murphy every time, without exception and expose Thilthorpe to as much AFL footy, as much toughness, as much game-pace as possible.

As with Fogarty (finally!), it will pay off.

It is plain to see that by bringing in Murphy we expect to overrun the Tigers with all of our experience. The 24 year old, 76 game Murphy should make all the difference.

Richmond are down to their last 14 ‘100+ game players’, not including young Jack Graham who plays his 99th game.

Our FOUR ‘100+ game players’ should be able to overwhelm all their KIDS

I notice that this has been mentioned before, but as a Carlton supporter, why are you contributing to our Preview with your "We"?

In the immortal words of Tonto: "What do you mean "we", Paleface?" :confusedv1:

Commonsense isn't very common at our club

Their forward line isn't that dire.

Marshall is starting to come along really well, Georgiades has stalled a bit but very talented. SPP and Rioli are good smaller forwards. Butters, Rozee, JHF will continue to have stints up forward. Their forward line is probably one decent KPF and some natural development away from good enough. Our forward line looked very average until a year or two ago, looks great now.

Their main ruck is terrible, but you can win premierships with mediocre rucks if they can find one. Their defence don't look great on paper, but even then they conceded the fifth least points last year, partially due to their midfield pressure.

I very much dislike Port, but they don't look like their list is that far off.

All they need is a coach.

It’s Murray’s new handle..
I haven't seen Muuray ion here for a while. I don't think Chief was a fan of some of his views on particular topics which Murray was ultimately proven correct. Poor old Chief. He seemed fairly knowledgeable about the crows for what it's worth. Oh well perhaps he may return at some point.

I think you've missed the most important thing. We suffered from a complete lack of senior leadership, both on and off ground.
GWS were just as tired as us, yet Greene, who was completely buggered, pushed himself harder and harder to win. We had no analogue: where were our senior leaders doing the same thing? They just had a heap more desire.

Off-ground, where were the responsive changes? It's pretty clear in retrospect that Keays should have come into the middle much earlier. The coaching staff are paid to do this sort of stuff at the right time.

I’m not sure they are paid to do that at all. They present their philosophies in a pretty comprehensive manner. Nix would have explained how planning and strategy is what happens during the preseason and the season is purely about the deployment of all that hard. Plan B is working harder at plan A.

Gollant?… rubbish when the ball hits the ground?..

Someone clearly doesnt watch the SANFL games..

Gollant probably gets more goals from ground ball opportunities than he does lead up marks followed by set shots.

He a master at scrounge kicking a goal off the turf or from a ground ball get.. even in heavy traffic.

And for a big man.. TT is very good below his knees.

Agree with your comments on defence though.. we are screwed this week with only picking 1 KPD..

I suspect now they have seen the tigers have picked three tall KPF’s that they’ll change their selections..

May even cop the fine and name Keane…

If they go in thinking doedee can be a KPD against a 200cm plus forward.. then they really are stupid and deserve to lose.
Gollant is a classic goal poacher ! Good call

He can have 5 kicks and 5 goals , knows how to sniff a goal on the deck
