I wish JOM got the same support on this board as Sturt seems to get :(

Do you find it strange that there are higher expectations on a high-profile, mature recruit on big $$$ who's in our leadership team than on a 3rd tall fwd playing his first game in years in a dysfunctional fwdline?

Who also cost draft capital, wasn't a pressing need and is keeping Erasmus out of the team
I could cop the draft capital and even the salary considering hawks are paying his first year but it’s the length of his new contract that is seriously just ANOTHER wtf moment from our list management team.

FFS the blokes struggling to run out games now ,how the **** is going go in another 3 years??

I think Hawks are paying some of his $$$ which is a positive.

Imo he hasn’t been good and hasn’t been bad. Been average and won’t be dropped anytime soon.

He will probably play 2 great games a season and the rest be just acceptable.

The price of keeping JOM in is keeping Erasmus out. That price becomes steep if JOM's output doesn't improve throughout the season.

I think we are putting too much value on potential with Erasmus. O'Meara's ball use isn't elite, but Erasmus' is worse.

I would argue that on a ball winning role, Erasmus is being kept out by Brodie/Serong more than O'Meara - but O'Meara is the spot most vulnerable.

If O'Meara and Aish are in the bottom six of your players you're doing very well.

Ok, but we're not paying JOM to be a bottom 6 player are we?

Personally I wouldn't drop him just yet, but if we have any integrity he'll go to Peel like Brodie did if he doesn't lift his game soon

Jom needs to be sat as a high half forward.
Get him to work on his tackling and start kicking some goals.
He isn't doing enough at the centre bounces.
He’s getting plenty of clearances actually..

Do agree though I would rather him spend more time FWD. 70%-30% in the fwd line.

Gungho: re Fyfe. I have come to the conclusion that we may have seen Fyfe play his last game in Purple.
I hope I am wrong, but I don't have high hopes for his return. He may even be used as trade bait.
I await the attacks.LOL
No attack. I was thinking the same thing the other day.

I think there's a chance he comes back, but his input into the game may be minimal.

If his body holds out he'll play out the season, but that'll be it.

0 tackles in 2 weeks, 3 pressure act in those same 2 weeks. Josh Treacy exceeded both those defensive stats in his single game. Alex Sexton played forward for GC, is seen as lacking in his pressure and out tackled Bailey despite being on the ground for less than half the time he was. You and I had as many tackles in the last fortnight as Banfield did. Despite being on a couch or in a pub, we had the same impact as he did on keeping the ball in our forwardline.

There's reasons to like Banfield, I get why people do, but the idea he is a good defensive forward is the biggest myth that exists. By no metric at all is he a good pressure forward.
I was behind the couch in honour of Kelli Underwood - does that count?

Don't think he's been terrible at centre bounce. What we miss sorely is clean takeaway from centre bounce which Mundy provided. A lot of our clearances are hack or rushed kicks.

He just looks so slow. No, definitely they were getting smashed in the middle and around clearances. It was headed that way again with GC until Brodie came on.

Out of curiosity why do you think we need to do that?

Hughes isn't playing a role Erasmus would be well suited to.
Because younger is always better for most on this board.

does anyone know if the good teams are playing all of their 2nd year mids, and 3rd year talls (by choice and not injury)? Eg Collingwood, Brisbane, Carlton, Geelong, ?

O’Meara is miles from being dropped. Came in on a 4 year contract and performance to date has been ok. More often than not players take a while to acclimatise to a new club.

Will probably be just the one change with Switta out, Brodie in. Maybe Erasmus in as sub. He needs a run in the seniors soon. I’m quite impressed with his ability to kick goals from 50 in the Peel games I’ve seen.

Not sure about Fyfe, just the same vague messaging from the club every week. Not expecting to see him before the bye now. Would have to assume he is well behind in his match fitness now.
