How dare we have someone who hasn't worked hard enough or got the match fitness in.
He was so good in JLT wasn't he!!... Oh wait, he didn't play... So maybe thats why he's not in?

If we through him in and he got injured straight away, you'd be doing the same bitching and moaning you are now.

lol that's our problem right there.
This club has been so focused on hard work and grinding, rather than natural ability, talent, flair and to encourage it.
It's coached out of our players to simply be "role players".

Mason Cox was so good in JLT wasn't he.
How did he go in the seniors again? Please enlighten me with your logic.
Fas would never record 0 marks for a game and he's a small forward, yet we want to persist with Cox and keep him in the side(when not suspended)?

Fasolo doesn't work hard enough, yet Mason Cox is cat like in his movements like Cyril Rioli is he? Pressure acts, hunting, chasing, run downs etc.
Give me a ****ing spell.
It's why we are pathetic.

This type of logic or excuse to keep our talented players out and reward, what exactly, mediocrity?

Our 2nd best goal kicker on the list and we won't play him yet he can win a game off his own boot.

I can't remain level headed anymore. I've supported Bucks through thick and thin, but I'm done.

We have no clear game plan or structure
I can't remember the last time I saw us kick to a lead in F50
Our forward line run into each others space and clog up our F50
Our skills are simply deplorable
We already look like a team scared of losing - not a team free of the shackles
Team selection staggers me - how Shaz wasn't picked is beyond me

For the first time in my 32 years of life, I hate watching us play. There's no progress, no clear trajectory or game plan.
We play like a bunch of U12's who have never been coached about the nuances of playing footy.

Rant over.

Mayne is a certainty going by that article.

Oh well, if he got 35 touches maybe he deserves a go?
The trouble with the 35 touches is, he wouldn't have got them as a defensive forward.

If he comes in as a defensive forward, I'd expect 6 possessions, maybe 6 tackles and one behind. It's a bit like Blairy getting a bucket load of possessions through the centre in the VFL, then getting promoted to a forward pocket in the AFL and failing yet again.

This one gets me. Carlton are ordinary but you can see their progress. Same with Brisbane. Collingwood feels like we are in no mans land

Was interesting listening to SEN (Luff and King) discuss our major flaw today.

Personally they hit the nail on the head.

“Last year in the forward 50, they were ranked 18th at ground level. We talk about the talls, but the smalls are as big as a problem.”

https://www.sen.com.au/news/2018/03/27/the-real-issue-with-collingwoods-forward-line/

Whilst it’s clear our delivery would lead to a better functioning forward line, I really do believe it is our lack of crumbing ability that leads to our horrendous inside forward 50 conversion rate.

We should be going small, not tall.

And when I say small I would love for us to work towards some xfactor in the front half. Players who can actually be creative rather than robotic paint by number type players i.e Smith.

Not sure who is ready to go fitness wise this weekend (obviously Elliott still isn’t), but I reckon if we could actually get a forward line during the season of:

Kirby - Moore - Elliott;
Daicos - Fasolo - WHE; and

Sidey, Stephenson etc rotating through - we would be much better performing.

Bucks needs to put some faith in the young exciting types rather than keep going back to the well on proven spuds.

This is our sad reality now..
Week in, week out..

lol watch Cox on the weekend?
You wouldn't know the difference.

Looks exciting doesn't it.. makes sense

Buckley named Chris Mayne, Jarryd Blair, Tim Broomhead and Brayden Sier as potential inclusion.
But Buckley continued to praise the forward’s positive attitude.
  • “He just seems to have his legs under him a bit more”
[/QUOTE]
This raises the question where his legs were last year, were they growing out of his ears?

I would have no problems losing games going in with that forward line..

I'd add Callum Brown into that mix..
Had 10 touches and a goal in 1 quarter playing half forward against the Dogs in JLT2

1) we are blooding our kids
2) win or lose it would be exciting to watch

Richmond won a flag with a smaller forward line..
Yet we are trying to buck the trend..

I don't know what's worse, Blair and Mayne or Witts and Cox in the same team.

Absolutely correct.

We would be far better served by having Darcy as a lone tall forward, with Elliott and Fas as medium marking options, and Kirby, Brown (who looked great in JLT vs Bulldogs) or even WHE roving the forward line.

The damning thing is that even with Cox and Reid up forward and our forward pressure being non-existent, we still couldn’t get someone to crumb to Cox’s marking attempts. We got killed in the air and on the ground.

Cox is too big and Reid been to Injured during his Career

Issue is Buckley would prefer to try and win games with senior spuds than to give our kids exposure.

He's just far to focused on trying to win games to save his own ass, but in doing so digs a deeper hole for himself.

If he just played kids 2-3 years ago we would be far better off this year and the next and the next, and ultimately his career wouldn't be hanging by a thread.

We don't have a list capable of making finals.. but fans want to see Berg, Brown, Daicos, McLarty, Kirby, Stephenson..

There's no shame in saying we cant play finals..

Would be a breath of fresh air If he just put some faith in our youngsters and let them play without this dark cloud of his aspirations of finals and to save his coaching career.
