Wright's 27 goals 10 from 18 games in a weak suns line up makes him ahead of the others for mine... and off those stats he would've been the leading goal kicker at pies this year. Wright is a MUST target in next years trade period!

granted, which is why I said long term I think he'll prove a gun. I'd love him at the pies.

I still think De Goey though has done very well for a 2nd year player. He has cemented himself in the team apart from been omitted briefly, and has been a solid contributor.

Fingers crossed we have both on our list long term!

Personally I'd keep Keeffe, Thomas, Cox & Smith all on the rookie list and go with a main list of 38. Has advantages in recruiting the father sons we want, has salary cap benefits and makes them earn their spots - especially Keeffe & Thomas. No point upgrading them when they haven't played for 2 years and may not be up to it. We can then still nominate 2 most deserving rookies and use others for any LTIs.
Especially Cox should remain on the rookie list as he can still be Cat B, right?

I agree with your Oxley logic, just it goes against people's desire to get rid of someone who hasn't offered us much TO someone who is struggling and thus may overpay. IMO Oxley offers us more once rest of the team is performing better. He's more an icing on the cake type player than the grunt to get us where we need to go. Even as icing he's still only depth at the moment when Reid, Howe and others are better at what he does and more complete players.
I agree I think that supporters and even the club sometimes are too impatient and want to see immediate success (not referring to Oxley as not sure).

There were three players that were drafted in 2010 in the WB team on Saturday and one won the Norm Smith. Do we have that sort patience?

Given we first drafted Gault end of 2011 I would have to say YES the club has that patience but NO most supporters don't.

Don't know if the lions would buy this, but I'd love to get Michael Close in a straight swap for Frost. Supposedly one of the better time trial runners, at the lions, which is impressive with his size so he could hopefully be a highly athletic option up forward and potentially through the ruck.

The lions already have plenty of KPFs or key position swingmen on their list in Schache, Freeman, Hipwood, Skinner, McStay and Walker

Yeah, Gault is a head shaker for sure, but few have had 6 years when you look at the ones I was referring to. Libba, Dahl, JJ and an injured Wallis.

Josh Thomas another - drafted end of 2009
edit: also not sure why Dogs have been so patient with those 4, they've played 98, 115, 64 and 93 games respectively.

This JDG discussion is a real eye opener into the age of posters hah!

Edit: I should add that I'd bare my arse in Burke St if that has anything to do with his surname.
Ensure you don't wear Malaysian under pants when you do it. :D
What time is the show you're putting on?

ps isn't it illegal now in Victoria?

How about deleting anything that isn't related to the 2016 trade period which is the thread title ?
It's a challenge.
If people, (not you) didn't respond to the off-topic discussion it would be much easier.

None played in their first year and JJ didn't debut until 2012.

McCarthy was the type of coach that wanted them to learn the ropes and didn't rush them.

Almost all our first year players played this year, maybe because of our injuries we don't have the option but even so look at the comments on some of our young players that we are happy to trade away - Oxley, DeGoey, Smith just at the top of my head. Gault is an exception.:)

Fortunately very few have gone on to bite us on the backside to date.

KB reckons we are into Rockliff. Now I take anything KB says with a grain of salt but.. if even half true.. no more inside mids FFS!

And some have questioned why we didn't keep with Picken....

Small forwards who can put pressure on, we have a lack of depth in that area, I’d like to find some from somewhere. Another key defender is going to be critical

Frost and Blair and pick for Rockliff?

1. I'll assume you mean McCartney (not McCarthy)
2. McCartney coached 2012 to 2014 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Western_Bulldogs_coaches so if those guys were all drafted 2010 he's not the one who had them learning the ropes first (unless he was there as an assistant? https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Brendan_McCartney suggests not.

Above points not withstanding I agree with your point.

I'd degoey is going ok for a clearance mid being left on a forward flank.

Thanks for the correction, McCartney wasn't prepared to gift them games, made them earn it, pretty tough with some and names meant little.
Thanks for the link, I had entirely forgotten that Paul Williams coached them.

Anyway, I have derailed the thread, sorry everyone.
