Realistically, I dont like our chances here. Lions on the rebound, at home. & Us without Cameron, who has been extremely valuable whilst playing. Dont really want to upset our structure too much, but think Reef has to come in and go forward, with McStay, Billy, and Ash sharing ruck duties.

FTR, I also didnt like our hubris on the weekend. Weak Richmond side, and we couldnt convert, put them away, deal with their increased pressure well, getting caught too often etc. Think they have been reading the globetrotter headlines a bit too much, and said, "yep, thats us... Fly has given us the license to bring on showtime". Wouldve preferred Fly to say "Right, forget the headlines, lets make this a clinical but blue collar effort, to show we're about making smart decisions, not just fancy ones to show off our skills". Hope that gets rectified this week

Go Pies

Mate, we hit the post 3 times in the first quarter. On a normal night we would've been 40 points up at half time.

We're going to look Harlem Globetrotterish at times but that's the nature of the way we play.

Fly is all about staying in the moment, none of these lads will be getting ahead of themselves.

Lions are the biggest flat trackers in the comp, that is for certain. Bring the heat and their front runners will crumble once again. Huge chance to go 4-0 with a draw that starts to open up for us.

AJ has a much better leap and so would lose less contests than TW. TW would have to have another significant compensating advantage over AJ but I can't think of one.

Wilson may have superior stamina than AJ.. I have heard worse ideas than bring in Tom to play a ruck/follower role. I can't see him getting a gig in the seniors any other way so it could be an opportunity for him. He's 195cm or so?

Have to say, you guys are darn unlucky...

If any team ever had shit luck with injuries and still put out good, if not great, performances, it would have to be you guys. Look out if you ever have a long run of games without picking up injuries, you'll be pretty scary.

Credit where credit is due, you guys appear to be the gold standard now, alongside Melbourne. 14 points probably should have been 30-35 on Friday.

I wish we still had Fly, I miss that run/gun/pressure style, I don't know wtf we are anymore (aside from old). He has adapted it to you guys in his own way so, so well, and we've become boring to watch with Dimma doing something weird with our game style.

Anyway, all the best, hope we can join you in September.

We have to avoid just bombing it in long or Harris Andrews will have a field day. He took 16 marks against the Bulldogs.
Agree. We'll have a much smaller forward line this week so we're going have to lower the eyes and hit up.targets when we go nside 50. The weather forecast is for dry conditions which will help that style of play.

One thing we have to factor in is keeping our running power up. Even Brisbane were knackered at the end of their one game at the Gabba this year, and allowed Melbourne right back in after the blackout.

I don’t think we can afford to bring Steene in this week if he’s not going to offer much around the ground. I think we manufacture some ruck competition to make it hard for McInerney to smash it 25-30m away from Titch, Adams and De Goey, but keep it as mobile as possible. I could even justify bringing in Ginnivan for Cameron instead of Reef on that basis, although Reef would still be my preferred option if McStay is going to be used up elsewhere.

If TW's tank is bigger then that's definitely a major advantage over AJ.
In fact, a Ruck option that can run Big O off his feet should be an important criterium.

I think it’ll be reef in this week

Seems a certainty after that press conference. I suppose it could be Wilson, but I don't htink he's physical enough. I'd play Ruscoe as sub, so they can move Frampton into the ruck if either the ruck or forward line isn't working.

And I love how Richmond supporters like to say McCrae is coaching the 'Richmond way'..Tigers haven't had the same success since McCrae left. I think it was the 'McCrae way'.
It's not an original idea to play fast football so it's hardly the 'Richmond way'. Hardwick might get credit for the three flags but he had a lot of help in doing so.

Interestingly, Fremantle's current game plan reminds me too much of ours during 2019. Slow, defence-heavy and AFL Fantasy-friendly. Ball is so over-used and slow to move.

Yes I think that about Freo's game style too. It's so boring. I always blamed Buckley for that game style, but perhaps it was just as much the Longmuir influence..

He deserves the credit. Doesn't really matter whose idea it is, it's the Head coach who is responsible for whatever ideas they go with. Their style was pretty awesome and they recruited really well for it - with a high priority on pace.

Hopefully Grandmaster Jarrod Wade can work his magic and get the boys up for this short turn around and interstate travel in what might be humid conditions.

Boys are fit so i'm sure they will run out the game, expect Jordy to have a massive one.
Yes, but will he play well?
