Busslinger 10K, 3H and 8M to half time in the dogs VFL side. Has looked composed, tidy with disposal and can’t be far from a debut. We aren’t getting him for less than our 2R.

Are we getting him? What percentage of certainty would you put on it?

Ended up with 25 odd disposals and nearly a dozen marks. Composed and used the ball well.

There’s almost 6 months until trade week so to put a percentage on it that far out is impossible. The Dogs could up their offer, spend more time in his ear, other suitors might arise with better terms etc.

In saying that, if trade week was tomorrow I’m very confident that he would request a trade to the Eagles and it would be up to us to satisfy the dogs with a trade. He is the only top 20 draft pick from his class not to have extended his contract with his club.

Norf are very, very interested too.

Hmmm… hearing north are very interested is a bit of an issue. Bulldogs can be difficult at times. They’d want a late first I reckon.

Might be hard to pull the psd threat and get him for a 2nd as a discount if north are keen.

Geez imagine having to weigh up a move back to your home town to play with Harley Reid.... or go to Norf

Buss and his camp will not use Norf as leverage, but the Bulldogs absolutely will. Norf will have pick 21 which is already a couple of picks better than our 2R, not to mention the PSD threat.

If we can do the pick 3,59,F2 trade with GCS for 8,9,20 then we may need to offer pick 20 and use our own 2R in the draft, which I’d personally be fine with. I will wait with bated breath as to what the Bulldogs would request if the status quo remains in October…

Pick 21 vs pick 23. If they are ok with a low 2nd, I reckon the dogs would see 2 spots as not that much.

A bit flat, was hoping to get him for a steal. I know deals are generally a lot fairer than most supporters want.

I rate buss and pick 20 is more than fair, but I want a steal.

Can you imagine Gold Coast walking away from the draft with Finn O'Sullivan or Luke trainor and Leo Lombard a year after a draft of Walter, read, Rogers and graham?

**** me this sport is broken.

If we deal with the suns and the dogs think they can get pick 20, they’ll ask. Also remember any end of 1st round FA compo will be after pick 20 but before pick 23. I actually think they’ll demand even more. At least if we can get that pick we’ll be seen to have improved our offer.

Everyone will have their own assessment of Busslinger but I’d be ok trading pick 20 instead of 23 if it was a deal breaker. In saying that there’s still over half a season of football to go. He may play every game from here on in, he may play none.

If this is the trade I think both clubs would leave a bit sh*tty, which means it’s probably fair.

not so sure. Power can be difficult, not dodoro levels but can drive a tough bargain.

dogs would be filthy they used a first on a player who leaves two years later, especially considering how much they gave up for sanders and not having a first this year.

You can only take what's on offer. He hasn't been able to break into the team. Was pick 13 I think so not a top 10. Early 20s isn't that bad.

Why would we give up a top 3 pick for 2 picks into 9- 13 range ?

There will be a clear top 3-4 in quality this year and all mids .

We need to keep adding elite quality , we have enough middling talent we hope become best 22 players

It’s assuming pick 3 for pick 8 and 9. I’d trade Jagga for Moraes and Travaglia in a heartbeat. FOS and Smillie are the two stand out mids for me, then Ashcroft then Jagga, Draper, Moraes, Lombard are the next tier but absolutely would not call any of them middling.

U18 champs will soon make the above statement seem reasonable or unreasonable.

That would be extremely kind to the eagles. If the Suns do that trade they should fold asap.

Another Curtin?

Yes, and from what I hear, he is as good, if not better, than his brother.
That is a strange team though - likely not how they line up. Uruqhart at FB [ He is a mid ] Champion back pocket [ nah, he is a forward pocket ] Maybe the team is upside down.
Gotta watch this!

Not necessarily. It will depend on Lombard. If there’s likely to be a bid before their 1st pick then pick 3 and the trade is far more valuable to them because pick 8 and 9 would just get eaten up.

Draiper is the one.

Not flashy but 100% the best fit for our on ball brigade .

He is very clean with his hands releasing team mates , weaves his way through traffic with speed and Agility, tackles hard, chases well and hit targets by foot even under pressure .

He is the exact type we need to release Reid and Hewett

Caleb sarong/ zack Merritt.
