I would like us to still get some players with 3+ preseasons carroll , baker, Garcia.

This issue with any trade with tigers will be them trying to package baker into it and this is where we will get shafted.

I would rather use future picks to trade in Garcia or Carrol types.. The draft watchers are starting to agree this 2024 draft is deeper than normal. Some real quality between 20 and 45. Even up to 60.

We have NGA prospects next year around those later picks we use to trade anyway so lets go hard in this years top 40 plus Champion late. Plus land trades with 2025 picks we dont need as much.

Players like Champion and Hayes are being ranked 39 and 40.

Carlton will prefer future picks as they have two FS this draft that will use up those picks, and they already traded in junk picks to use on the Camporeale boys.

Dogs will end up with two 1sts from English and Smith. And other players will also be moved on such as a Lobb, Caleb Daniels and even McCrae. So Dogs may prefer a future pick as well.

Dogs price on Garcia would be interesting to see but I’ve been told he’s already signed. Dogs will definitely get a pick for smith but I still think English stays and they will probably offer the smith pick for Barrass.

Given the Dockers are in the window why not go to them (on the quiet) asking are there any WCE players that interest you? Of course we’d say no to many - but not all. Then we start negotiations.

Now I know there’ll be the inevitable screaming about helping them. But we frequently discuss here about how this competition is stacked against nonVic teams and particularly against WA teams. My dislike of the vAFL is far far far greater than the Dockers. If we’re not in contention then I’m all for doing anything to see the nonVics beat the Vics (especially on their home ground).

Vic players have nine other teams to choose from before having to consider shifting family, new school, leaving friends and rellies etc etc. We have one. Surely it’s time to get over this ‘pretend parochialism’ and to explore the WA option.

And to those who’ll strongly disagree with this, ask yourself would you really prefer to see Carlton or Essendon or Geelong win the flag - or the Dockers? A Vic team with all their advantages or a similarly disadvantaged WA team?

One for West Coast fans to track as a Next Generation Academy (NGA) member, Kenh showcased electric speed and attacking instincts off half-back. The West Australian added substance to his flair with 79 per cent disposal efficiency as he broke the lines and crafted attacks with his left foot. Kenh was also resolute defensively, competing both in the air and at ground level with a solid, powerful frame.

Wether we agree or not, Lobb has been better than Barass in every statistic since moving into defence. Now obviously playing for a contender with better midfield pressure would make a difference, and Barass has been a good defender for longer, but the difference would be very marginal and not worth a first round pick.

Having a disgruntled player is also toxic though. It starts to permeate throughout all players. If you don't want to play for west coast, pack your bags and move out. This isn't charity and players should feel privlidged to be playing afl - nobody owes them anything.

I suspect the AFL is far keen to prop up poor teams rather than help those that can stand on their own two feet. They need the numbers for TV rights.

The point is. They kind of need is producing max revenue to keep propping up things. Think wa and the gst. Of we stopped producing questions would start

Players often take a little unders for an extra year too.

He signed on in December 2021 for 5 more years, having already been signed until the end of '22. At that point we weren't even convinced we were heading for an almighty fall.

TB on his contract extension at the time: "It feels great having some security behind me and knowing that I can focus on building this list going forward, and keeping the environment that's really healthy for improvement".

So at 26 years of age he locked himself into 6 more total years of footy which sees him out of contract on his 32nd birthday. He admitted prioritising security, and openly states the club provides him with the best environment to get better every day.

Quite rightly then he should have projected he was not at the peak of his powers and could back end his deal with a higher pay bracket, or take a short contract and continue to ply his craft for a big pay day just around the corner. He chose to accept the money, commit his full future to the club and focus on other things.

It seems a bit disingenuous now to request more money AND the security of the long term deal. He hasn't helped his cause stating he struggles to get moving each day with his back injuries. I can understand the club being gun-shy about revisiting his contract given the sheer volume of players who have rapidly fallen off a cliff around the age of 30. That might be a risk for another club that can offer Tom more years with far less travel burden, but we can't do that.

By not trading with each other the WA clubs miss out on the "local market" there is no local player market in WA nor SA. Why? Because of traditional rivalry.

Now there is serious rivalries in Melbourne but those clubs have a very active market to help clubs in the various stages of contentng down to rebuilding.

It is a major disadvantage for WA and SA clubs and totally self inflicted.

If the WA clubs were serious about equalising the comp they would start trading with each other. Simple.

This especially helps when clubs are at opposing ends of the ladder like right now. Eagles players such as Ryan, Waterman, TB or McGovern who do not want to relocate interstate but could get a better contract and contend could move.

Freo gives up picks and any fringe surplus kids like Noble or Erasmus. Clubs with free cap space helps the other with a tight cap. One club helps the other contend now. The other helps get kids for the future.

In another 5 or 6 years club list requirements likely reverse.

If it means more premiership cups in WA sooner everyone wins.

Think TV rights - number of teams produces number of games and this drives airtime and advertising revenue. TV rights is the AFL's key revenue. What WC makes is pretty irrelevant in a socialised controlled environment.

Yep. TK for the Collingwood first rounder they hold will do. It keeps him and his family in Perth, still provides him a chance to be part of a premiership and gives us pick 6-9

Fremantle are not trading for Tim Kelly, never mind trading a top 10 pick for him.

For example, Collingwood would take Curnow in a heartbeat just as Carlton would leap at Daicos - despite the fact that the fans ‘hate’ each other.

Team performance is more important than ‘traditional rivalries’. So why not in WA?
