Funny, because last week Cal rated him as the 9th best prospect in this year's draft.
Not that Cal is the be-all and end-all, however, it does demonstrate that Draper is far from the uniform no 1 selection at this stage.
I do recall a previous no. 2 pick who dominated in the SANFL pre-draft but was not up to the standard when he played at AFL level.

Think TV rights - number of teams produces number of games and this drives airtime and advertising revenue. TV rights is the AFL's key revenue. What WC makes is pretty irrelevant in a socialised controlled environment.

I have us a better chance of winning one than the Tigers.

Tigers wont win against the Hawks or Saints, definitely not thats like saying we could win against Carlton or Freo

Their 2 best chances are the same as ours, GC and North

It would be Eagles 2/3 & F2 for Crows pick 5 & F1.

All comes down to how much the crows would want the local talent. Every chance they back it in that he will be there at pick 5. See how the next months footy plays out I guess.

Thats still in the desperate ballpark from the crows side.

Pick 5 and pick 8-12 at best for pick 2/3 and a pick in the 20s

Id tell them to go turn that F1 into a top 10 pick this year and we can talk

Barrass pick alone, if we were super keen. Thats probably paying too much, theres no value in it vs just taking a kid this year unless we see something the crows and other clubs dont

Richmond aren’t picking Draper over Jagga, Smillie or O’Sullivan imo and North will either trade down or take Smillie, O’Sullivan or Trainor. I think Draper definitely gets through to 3.

He isn’t worth what we’d have to give up, no one to this day knows what he is as a player.

Given the Dockers are in the window why not go to them (on the quiet) asking are there any WCE players that interest you? Of course we’d say no to many - but not all. Then we start negotiations.

Now I know there’ll be the inevitable screaming about helping them. But we frequently discuss here about how this competition is stacked against nonVic teams and particularly against WA teams. My dislike of the vAFL is far far far greater than the Dockers. If we’re not in contention then I’m all for doing anything to see the nonVics beat the Vics (especially on their home ground).

Vic players have nine other teams to choose from before having to consider shifting family, new school, leaving friends and rellies etc etc. We have one. Surely it’s time to get over this ‘pretend parochialism’ and to explore the WA option.

And to those who’ll strongly disagree with this, ask yourself would you really prefer to see Carlton or Essendon or Geelong win the flag - or the Dockers? A Vic team with all their advantages or a similarly disadvantaged WA team?
