If im the dogs I'm upping my offer to Barrass.
Cats 1R (Bazlenka trade) + Busslinger + Garcia as a starting point. Gives us a 20 year old developing WA key back and former 1R pick, plus a 23 year old B22 mid.

Would feel a lot better if that Cats pick was inside 15 but even if it was 18 could be packaged with some later picks to get back around the top 10.

What hurts even more is 3/4 of this board wanted Worpel at his pick, of course ROB and his team went for Ainsworth and the rest is jistory.

Martin, Humphries, Worpel, Kelly (should have been taken first time rather than traded for), Richards instead of Brander - We were very lucky to still get Allen.

It goes on and on
Worpel was a genuine flight risk, and Richards was considered an even bigger go home risk.

Our recruiters had a red line through both for the 2017 draft.

Where do we get a Tom Green from? Exactly the type of player we need for pick 3.

Very true, although it is probably time teams just start calling these names out regardless.

I think the R1 3-year standard contract helps, but even later - as a consensus I think teams need to just select best players.

Josh Smillie would be that guy this year, on paper at least.

Lets be insane for a moment

What would a club give us for our future 1st rounder? Is it too out of the question to say Richmond give us say pick 9,39 and Baker for our Future 1st + 23

If we say Bakers value is a pick 15 then points wise it would be 1900 points back for us which is like pick 5

Provided we finished bottom 5 which Richmond would bank on they would be okay to not stack all the picks in one draft and pick next year while turning Baker into the kind of asset they want him to be draft pick wise

Worth exploring

Keeping it simple, it could just be 9 and Baker for our F1

We go in with 3 9 Hawks R1 23 and whatever sweetener we get from Hawks

Richmond would take that easily but the eagles wouldnt trade F1 surely with Dyson Sharp & Archie Lodowyke as the 2 guns of the 2025 afl draft

Unless the eagles believe they wont finish bottom 3

I think with what looks a strong WA and Vic Country group we should hold onto any first round picks we have for next year.

I’d hate to think that we are trading out of the likes of Sharp, Onley, Duursma, Rodriguez, Curtin ect. Just to get pick 9 this year.

Be quite happy to use up some of our salary cap space to put more money in front of Peatling than anyone else is offering

More of a need for us than Liam Baker is

Agreed Keays, 4 years with a trigger for a 5th on a pretty big deal, heavily front ended.

Doubt he chooses us over GWS, Bulldogs and the Pies still, but it’s worth a shot.

Yeah can’t understand why he’d leave GWS now he looks to be cementing a spot in their midfield

Mind you, think the same about why would Cumming and Perryman want to leave but seems like they both have one foot out the door
