Okay. Care to expand?
Not to mention the $$$ fat cat contract and being back home with the bad influences.

Big Fish trades never tend to work out because their best is usually behind them.
Bolton is good at the Dusty cheat role- however likely won't be afforded the same freewheeling role at Freo.
Probably goes the Acres/Hill/Lobb/Menegola/Hogan route after being shit for a few years.

The pick swap isn’t too bad, if you think differently reckon it’s down to not knowing the draft.

Literally all the top top prospects have question marks, so much so that FOS is in top 3 discussions despite doing nothing all year.

Where we ****ed up was on trading it for baker, don’t understand why 26 couldn’t have got it done.

There has been a lot of Matt Clarke talk. From what I can establish he became Richmond's head of recruiting in 2016.

The Culley delisting seems like something his manager ****ed up , I was under the impression that he had been offered a extension earlier in the year but his management team were holding off on signing a contract till the end of of the year..

How the hell did we recruit him with that record!

This draft is meant to be deep - as in the first 6 or 7 are all in the mix for #1. And then the next few are all in the mix for top 5. I don't see any obvious generation players. Maybe there is, but you can't see it yet. In the last 10 years, Schache is probably the only dud in the top 3. McGrath isn't a dud, but you wouldn't be over the moon at spending #1 on him.

Get someone top 3, there's a high chance you're getting a 200 game A-grade mid. The chances of getting that with #12 are slim. Possible, but unlikely.

26 should have been enough. Failing that, "give him 1 year contract and we'll free agent him". #3 shouldn't have been an option.

hmmmm

Surely there had to be someone with a better record than this...how could we not poach someone from another club with the resources we got?

(Log in to remove this ad.)

Looking towards next year is interesting. From the OOC the obvious ones to go are petch, Cripps, sheed and Jamo.

Livingstone maybe but is cat B anyway.
Rawlingson also.

The rest you like to think have a future at the club.

Perhaps a reason to retain rotham and Edwards is this. Ofc we could just take some extra rookies, but maybe they want some experience at wafl level.

Oh well, let's see.

If you are an Eagles supporter why be a pessimistic Kent there are too many of them on this forum.
Too many people seem to post too either get likes or just have no fecking idea!
NO! Bender; I’m not talking about you!
Nor you Astro, just an observation.
We have been dealt the hand we have been dealt.
Let’s concentrate on making a hand good enough to win the deal.
We’ve all vented! It’s over!!
I like your passion.

I hope we really look at a guy like DGB. Worst case we delist him in a year if he can't get his shit together, best case he plays 150+ games for us and is the Gov replacement long term.

If it's just laziness or a lack of commitment or his lifestyle habits that are holding him back surely they can be fixed.
Maybe he just needs a wake up call and a delisting might be just that.

The guy clearly has talent

We have our tall forwards. Gov won't last much longer and hopefully HEdwards keeps improving and can stay on the field.rucks suck Midfield is a weak point too
Not overly balanced

On SM-S921B using BigFooty.com mobile app

Our midfield is balanced, it just has a lot of unproven talent backed up by a handfull of senior bodies.

5 Seniors : Yeo, Duggan, Kelly, Graham with Baker an option.

7 Youth: Reid, Hutchinson, Hewett, Ginbey, Chesser, Long and Hall.

Some 190cm big bodies in that mix and some smaller types.

Thats 12. Maric now listed as a mid but didnt include.13

Not mentioning Sheed, or Edwards.15 Both to free up list spots at the end of 2025.

We will take at least one more mid in the draft 16. Lindsay / Allan or Davies a smokie.

Moreas / Davies with 26 would be nice. Yes pieces are needed however its reasonabky balanced IMO.

You don't know what's being traded tho. We've been linked to plenty of the last couple of years that haven't eventuated and when we do trade guys in ppl go nuts that we've paid too much.

Look at any premiership team.

They all have players traded in.

You dont need the draft to provide role players to support the six stars you need to provide the quality.

That was the gist of the issue.

hmmmm

Well he didnt have too many decent high picks to use over that period.

Geelong would have cleaned up of course.

We dont. In 21-25 age range this year who played AFL

WCE - Chesser, Hough, Brockman, L.Edwards. H.Edwards, Jamieson, B.Williams
Hawks - Ward, Dambrosio, Serong, Butler, Ramsden, Macdonald, Ginnivan, Mitchell, Newcombe, Day, Maginness, Moore

Hawks 21-25 year olds were miles ahead to say the least.

Your first point was that the Hawks did 3 years ago what Richmond are doing now. That's not true at all. Their lineup for their first final win

Hawks line up last night

Sicily (pick 56)
Frost (traded in for late pick swaps)
Impey (traded pick 33)
Hardwick (pick 44)
Weddle (pick 18)
Morrison (pick 74)
D'Ambrosio (pick 61 + F4)
Moore (pick 67)
Nash (pick 62 rookie draft)
Amon (free agent)
Chol (traded for a 2024 2nd rounder tied to Brissy)
Ginnivan (gave up 2024 F2 and F3 for Pies 2024 F2 and F4)
Dear (pick 56)
Gunston (traded back for Brandon Ryan)
Watson (pick 5)
Meek (traded for JOM and got a 2nd rounder back aswell)
Worpel (pick 45)
Newcombe (pick 2 in the mid season draft)
Scrimshaw (traded for late nothing swaps)
Maginness (pick 29)
Ward (pick 7)
Macdonald (pick 26)

That's some incredible list management and/or more likely some amazing coaching to get them playing like they currently are

Your 2nd point was that Hawthorn played more under 25s than us. I said we have a heap.of u25s on our list but they may not be getting games because our development sucks

Now the goalposts have changed again to 21-25 year olds who played AFL this year

I have no idea what you're trying to say tbh

It's also pretty funny that we all launched a nuke about trading away pick 3 and a couple days later the Hawks delist someone they drafted at pick 6 four years ago.

Too be fair look at the blokes that were picked up directly after him , nothing to get to excited about , very average first round. As much as it is a miss it’s not like a superstar was picked up around his pick.
