I don't know why we would offer Melbourne more for Jackson when we're the ones with the PSD leverage.

Using the GWS hypothetical, I'd rather just take pick 3 and 12 to the draft.

I guess we have the leverage but Melbourne might just fold & take what Fremantle are offering. Would they really let him walk for nothing? If we really do want him, we offer more & are guaranteed too get Jackson.

We could risk it and hope Melbourne give a big finger too Fremantle and let him walk but I highly doubt that’s gonna happen. It all really depends on how much we want Jackson

I actually feel for Melbourne. Taking a pick 3 and having him impress the league only to be offered magic beans because he wants to come home. What are they meant to do.

The players have far too much power in this league.

Tell gws we’re taking Cadman and accepting 3 + 2023 additions.

Then tell Essendon and hawthorn we’re taking Sheezel if we use the pick and we’re 2022 first round and 2023 additions.

Once we have their pick tell Geelong we’re taking Clark and will accept 7 + 2023 additions.

Adds a lot of currency for next years stronger draft

Shift as many list clogging contracts as possible next year.
The players have too much power because they get paid f/a compared to other elite sportsmen.

They get paid f/ a because the salary cap is artificially low because there's too many vic teams and if it was another ten mill a year they would go broke.

Once again we are being held back by the minnow vic teams with both that and our medical staff etc because of the soft cap.

If the players were paid according to what sportspeople are usually paid then we could change.

1. The obvious Port for North for JHF
2. Freo getting 2 for Melbourne for Jackson
3. Geelong wanting 2 to make sure they get Clark
4. GWS wanting Cadman
5. Hawks wanting Sheezel

Here are the rough pillars I am after in a trade for pick 2

Port - 8 plus Future R1 plus 33 or 43
Freo - 13 plus F1 plus Norf F2 giving back a Future R3
Cats - 7 plus Future R1 plus a R3
GWS - 12 18 and Future R1 giving back a Future R3
Hawks - 6 24 and Future R3
Some of these might be done on draft night depending who Norf pick at 1
GWS for mine.

But im greedy, the sweet spot would be two picks 6 and 7 and F1st somehow form or shape.

Clark and Mackenzie!!!

And packing two 2nd rounders for something like 12 or 15, and hope Hewitt slides. Its all dream, and wet one. It could happen?

On draft night do the following:

2 to GWS for 3 + 19
Then 3 + 26 to GC for 5 & 6

Go to draft with 5, 6, 19, 20, 40.

Walk away from draft night with McKenzie, Phillipou, Szybkowski, Keeler and Lemmey.
Hugely biased eagles trade. GC give up 5 & 6 for 3 & 26 ? Have to say that's one of the most unrealistic I've seen posted for a while and there are a lot of them. Club supporters are typically too biased towards their own clubs to be realistic I've found.

I think we should trade out Pick 2 to GWS for pick 3 + 19 and give North and Port a incentive to improve their offer while we improve our draft position ..
Yeah this is all getting a bit BigFooty mega trade, but if we could go:

Out: 2
In: 3 and 19

Out: 3, Rioli
In: 8, Future 1st (Port), 33

Turn 2 and Rioli into 8, 19, 33 and a future 1st. I would be very happy with that.

Draft hand of: 8, 19, 20, 26, 33.

Gold Coast are only drafting one player this year, similar to last year. They'll upgrade two rookies to the senior list to make the required 3 senior list changes this year.

They still have an extended rookie list, so they can run with a shorter senior list until the AFL pulls back this concession.
