I don't understand the melts. This trade values pick 2 at 8 and 12 and rioli at a future second. That feels right to me. Pick 40 is irrelevant as we won't be using it on draft night.
Yet for pick 1 gws offers North 3 and 12 .

Is the difference between pick 1 and 2 really the difference between pick 3 and 8 ?

Surely not

My first thought on the mega deal is the Eagles have decided on a player and know that the clubs with the first 7 picks won’t select him. My biggest fear is that Geelong will get pick 7 from Gold Coast and pick the player we want.
They will take Jhye Clark with 7.

All this so that a number 1 draft pick can tear up his contract and go home home after 1 year. Then it enables a player who got full support for stupid behaviour to turn his back and go to the club of his choice. And finally, we give up the highest draft pick we have had for years.
Fantastic.

I don't know. I didn't think we would be contending anytime soon. Fair chance of finishing bottom 4 next year. Hopefully the 2 first rounders turn into jets. If Port finish poorly again as unlikely as that would be it might end up ok. Going to have a good draft hand next year too which is the big one.

Port to finish above Pies and Freo next year and come out of this trade as absolute bandits. Get JHF, Rioli and an upgrade of a 2nd rounder.
GWS gets Cadman, North get Wardlaw and Sheezle plus a future 1st. Eagles get.....Ginbey
Ahh never been so dissapointed with the club

All aboard the Death ride Port's 2023 bandwagon

Excited Lets Go GIF by Choice Hotels
North fans will also be on the bandwagon 🤩

We're still getting the highest draft pick we've had since 2010 ;)

Pick 8, we had Sheed/Duggan at 11 in back to back drafts, then pick 12. Beyond that we have had **** all presence in the first round for the entire decade.

To be completely honest, I prefer 8 and 12 to pick 2. The only way this trade sucks is if we couldn’t get something better on draft night.

At 8 if we could get Humphrey or Phillipou we are arguably getting the highest potential mids in the draft anyway.

If we go Ginbey and Hewitt it’ll be less good but I see no reason to actually believe they’ll do that.

It’s all part of the Master Plan everyone!

We will now send the Future Second & even the Future Third along to the Suns for Bowes + his salary & Pick 7 aswell as a big finger at the cats!

Dam I hope this actually happens!

Outside of the disappointment we at least have a lovely draft hand, can add 4 potentially best 22 players to assist our rebuild.

This is where I am at

At least give us Phillipou or Humphries

While this feels like a crap trade, it is still better than the Tim Kelly deal.

Club really needs a refresh in key roles.
