Funnily enough I was talking to someone who just happens to be a family member of Lyons.

Was told his OP wasn’t great at all but the lions kept playing him when he clearly wasn’t fit & ran him into the ground.

Got to the point where Lyons old man was pretty angry about it & told Lyons he needed to stand up to the club/Medical staff & tell them enough was enough. Sounds like they where not that stoked about the mis-management by the club.
Not sure how much I trust that

A half fit Dev Robertson doesn’t really set the world on fire and BrisbAne would have plenty of players not getting a game who would provide more

Also, Brisbane have one of the most well respected medical teams in the AFL. Multiple Perennially injured players have requested to go to Brisbane just because of that fact

Not sure what you’re on about a half fit Robertson, when we were talking about a crocked Jarryd Lyons.

It was obvious to all fans by half way through the season that Lyons was crocked. He could barely run, and when he was dropped for finals, he still played in the reserve team, where he was stationed in the forward 50 and took a shot on goal from 40 out, and the ball fell 10m short.

In 2021 we played an obviously injured Andrews for the whole season. After the season ended, he went in for knee surgery.

We’ve steadily lost staff from our medical team over the last 3 years, as they’ve been poached by other clubs. Head doctor, head physio and head s&c.

Whats with the Gov contract talks article in the Worst?

He wouldnt play in Melbourne surely?

Click bait headlining?
Surprising the lack of discussion on this . I personally like Gov . But I see the benefit to the club to trade him out for a good pick plus salary is freed up for young players . It has been documented the benefit of turning over aged players that want high money and also become injury prone .

To play 'Captain Obvious', a team needs a good mix of talls/smalls, attackers/defensive, lockdown/intercept types etc.

Possibly the only area we are strong in and have a few options in is the intercept defender area.

Therefore I, like you, can see the benefits IF he wants to go. I wouldn't be rushing to push him out the door, but if he sticks his hand up wanting out I wouldn't go crying to Mama.

McGovern is an unrestricted FA

Let’s say for argument sake, Carlton offer him say $2m over 3 years - if they’re going to get him to shift it’d need to be something enticing

I’d be inclined to thank him for his services, take the 2nd round compo pick and wish him well.

Trying to match a contract like that would be foolish as we shouldn’t be offering anymore than an extra 2 years

Carlton - once McGovern twice shy!!!

Not expecting an offer of $2mln over 3 years. Little brother saw to that.

All depends on how Gov goes next season. If he has slimmed down, stays fit, plays 18 games and plays well then 3 x $670k isnt silly money. Especially when they make finals in 2023 and are loading up for a flag tilt.

Would we match to force a better deal? Maybe we would.

If we got a 2nd round compo pick in the low 20's that likely would be enough to let him go.

Anything less than that would be dissapointing. Being an UFA gives us no leverage so we get what we get from AFL House and the magic FA compo formula.

Jeremy and Mitch were at the Christmas lights display in Duncraig.

Jeremy is looking lean.
I hear he was only looking at the dimmest of lights.

Off to Carlton, then.

The whole idea is a joke, The West Is running with nothing as usual.

As if Mitch McGovern has enough runs on the board to be in a position where he's able to say "I want to play with my brother".

He's one more bad season away from being delisted from Carlton anyway.

If you want to play with your brother, then do it after you retire, legit like everyone else does after AFL. Same goes for you Jeremy.

If Jeremy did move to the Blues it would likely be to replace Mitch not join him.

Anyway at our stage of a rebuild and Jeremy's age I wouldnt be unhappy if he played elsewhere and we got an extra pick to fast track things.

Yeah they're definitely hunting clicks, now they're spouting the Georgiadis (lazy to check)stuff as well

For some reason I can't shake off the worry that Ginbey might want to go to Freo at some stage seeing how much he loves the Dockers, esp him saying it'd be a dream to play for Freo despite Freo not being in the race for him.
Perhaps if that eventuates we can do a swap for Erasmus who was an Eagles supporter lol.

I interpreted that as a tank to stop interstate sides drafting him which only left WCE as a option and he also didn`t say WCE to make it too obvious ..

Or has Jeremy gone to Nisy and said...this is how it's going to be kent, Mitch tells the blues to garn get ucked, he comes here on big $ and max simmo creds, sort it you nonce!

Nissy tell Gov ....OK leave it with me ........ I know how these family connections things work...... I will get Toddy on to it. :thumbsu:
