It's funny how you mention Rich. He was seen as the most complete and developed inside mid in his draft. People seem to forget how much of a huge risk it was seen taking Nicnat over Rich.

This draft has 1 complete top tier inside mid as it stands now and there is no guarantee that he can play his current junior style inside at the next level. Even still, even if he does play almost exclusively inside he's not your true in and under guy.

If you want a true in and under guy who dominates at getting the ball out then use a pick between 20-30 on Sanders.

Also go through your above list and tell me who the real dominant on the ground players are and where they were drafted.

When our list is as s**t as it is, you need to reconcile this and ensure you give yourself the best opportunity to advance your list as much as possible. I'll give you Oliver, Miller, Neale, Cripps, LDU and Dangerfield. Also note Dangerfield was drafted as an underager whilst that was still allowed, spent his first year on a list finishing his schooling in Victoria and left the club he was drafted to. He was 17 and a half when drafted.

Also Neale gets beaten up on in big games against bigger midfielders who do the same when the whistle is put away.

So if the player type you are chasing isn't there and there is a group of really, really highly talented guys within that top 10 then you maximise your chances to improve your list as much as possible.

Also whilst you're at it let me know where Fyfe, Yeo, Shuey, Cunnington, Libba, Selwood, Adams, Kennedy, Prestia were bid on/drafted. If you really want to look at true clearance machines of the last decade. (Viney could perhaps be put here too but he has sacrificed part of his game for the betterment of his team)

Please also let me know just how effective you think Petracca in particular would be without Gawn or Shuey without Nicnat or even Cunnington without Goldstein.

Also on where the game is headed and what is most important. The bounce will go, super tall rucks who can get the ball to their players will become much more important as will centre clearance mids who can kick goals, players with aggression who win one on one contests and players who can break the game apart by being able to move the ball 70 metres onwards. The last group of players that will be hugely crucial are leading forwards who can convert. Whether that be 185cm or 200cm. SPP is a great example of this, he hasn't magically become a much better player with better skills. The AFL rules have changed and that has made him whilst not a top tier player a player who went from being borderline best 22 to a very good player / force around the ball.

Why do you think i'm looking so hard at guys who have the potential to get the ball out of the centre and kick goals themselves from that position.
I didn't bother reading your shit. If you can't work out that with every single player in a draft, if there is a single player chosen below them who is better, then that player isn't the best player chosen (for that draft position), and that this is the rule rather than the exception, then I can't trust your logic or credibility in anything.

You have attained rare clown status.

Of course he would.
He's a better defender than Mitch McGovern and Ratugolea.

He's been poor this year but some of you guys have either poor or selective memories.

The problem is being so inconsistent when we need that good defender you speak of ..

Congratulations you have already got Harley Reid in your sites you have take a number 1 pick off us Hawks fans The Hawks have lost number one pick and we haven’t even won a game and if you hold number one pick for mid season draft that’s a double bubble pick for you guys as the mid-season pick is now becoming a golden pick this is how the modern rebuild is done well done Eagles as a Hawks fan I’m jealous hopefully we can get a few thrashings in the next few weeks and steel the number one pick from you guys but for now it looks all yours.

Don't forget the Value of Pick 19 , which may attract a few offers as well ..

Oh f**** me

Another 10 pages on the definition of a bull and pick one shoved down my throat

Don't you feel embarrassed posting this?

I’m not in embarrassed to say what I think is the truth maybe the club should be embarrassed by tanking as the kangaroos and West Coast and hawks are but just my opinion but no shame in what I say I just have an opinion just like everyone else and nothing wrong with exploiting the rules that are there every team does it every year why not our teams for once.
At least I don’t pussyfoot around and dodge the truth I just call it as I see it. Maybe I’m wrong but I try and look at the positive and the great young players we will all get with the very early picks we get for finishing near bottom. I’m not going to be sanctimonious and pretend that I want us to win games that don’t matter when all it’s going to do is hurt us in the Longrun as we lose the top talent to the other teams like North that constantly tank every year. And if I’m wrong I will cop it on the chin like a real man

I’ve seen suggestions of asking for a priority pick, would we perhaps have more success if we instead asked for an academy pre-selection & sign Livingston? Similar to what the AFL did for GC, except not over 3 years.

BOND 007 is this something the club would consider asking for or have much success with if the question was asked?

Should just be able to do that anyway. This bullshit of 'growing the game' in the Eastern states is a massive leg up.

Just let every club choose one player they can match a bid on and everyone will be happy.

We should’ve let Sydney throw a god father offer at us in the off-season for Barrass or even let his contract run down as the compo pick would’ve for sure been a first rounder (which would be a top 3 pick)

Instead we gave him a 5-6 year extension… I’ve never rated him as high as most of the board have. I’m not just saying this because he has had a poor season, I think he has always struggled as a last line defender and often gets towelled up in 1 on 1’s.

Maybe we should use some of our cash to pay lawyers to challenge the draft system in court and get it blown up. It's getting more compromised each year and we're not keeping up compared to the clubs with academies etc.

You'd need the backing of the AFLPA for it to go anywhere. If you can get that the more independent clubs will have the other side covered. Pretty sure Freo, West Coast, Port, The Crows and Geelong would all very, very happily back that. Not even mentioning the bigger Melbourne clubs.

Pretty sure the WAFC would love nothing more than a big FU to the VFL as well.

Could well be the end of relevance to any small clubs and you also open up the door for Freo to actually win a premiership at some stage.

Please delete Gorter he was a rookie and we had have very few rookies that have amounted to anything.
Don't could have had Kelly or Ryan as a rookie instead pathetic by the recruitment team especially when Gorter was a massive spud and not a position of need.
Imagine if Eagles had rookie listed both Ryan and Kelly back then where would we be right now

I am in Thailand at the moment. Had a crap internet connection on Saturday do had to settle for listenning on the radio to Saturdays game and watch a replay later.

So I just randomly chose Triple M from afl.com selection. Lachie Reid (is that his name? Channel 10 bloke), Andrew Embley and a couple of others.

Lachie Reid brings up the subject of the McGovern brothers and will they play together next year. All the other commentators shoot down the idea of us chasing Mitch McGovern.

Them Embley says in his affable boganish way “And yeah, Jeremy won’t be going to Carlton because he has already signed another two yearer with us …”. Then he went into the beginning of a monologue on Jeremy and Lachie Reid jumps in talking over the top of him saying “Oh no, the club haven’t announced that yet have they Embers?”. And it wasn’t in a jovial casual way of correcting somebody. It was defensive and panicked. Like a clean up job when somebody says something they are not supposed to.

And Embley replies “Oh yeah, your right Lachie, we better just wait for the announcement of the club on it”. Sounding very sheepish. Then there was arkward silence.

That deal was signed weeks ago and the whole media knows it. The club wants to control the timing for the announcement to hide it in the news cycle and avoid criticism.

Not sure why you think this whole 'club wants to control the narrative' thing is such an issue?

Nothing wrong with giving Gov a 2 year contract. There's plenty of names on our list that need to be retired or delisted before we worry about Gov.
