Hewitt projecting between 3 and slidding to 10ish.

Similar range as D'Aloia the SA u18 captain. Decent Plan B from pick 6 > 10?

Two very capable inside extractors. D'Aloia reads like an Eagles recruit, low ager, good character etc. He's a big solid unit.

Others in that 6 to 10 range. Kobe Ryan another who suits our needs. Broadbent, Tsatas, Hollands.

Can see him to continue to slide if he doesn’t tidy up his kicking.

Not against picking up Hewitt, but would be reluctant to use a early pick at this stage in time.

He will play early next year due to him being such a big unit.
Just hope our recruiters don’t jump on him early because he dominates at the champs due to his size

100% agree. We should not be touching any player who doesn't have sound foot and hand skills. Powell Pepper gets a lot of ball but he's shit because his disposal is poor. Every time a player with poor disposal gets the ball there is an opportunity cost.

Whats the opportunity cost of not getting the ball at all? And not stopping an opponent whenthey have it?

SPP is a blunt tool but in the heat of finals you dont have time to be perfect. Dane Swan was pretty rough around the edges with his kicking.

They may have had limited (very limited) value but ffs Nisbett needs to stop commenting on list management on the radio.

Just erodes any potential value every time

Would really like Nizzy to depart seasons end along with fitness and conditioning staff.Anyone who’s has been part of list management/recruiters the last few years.
Time for new blood to with fresh ideas to lead us through this new rebuild

Tim Kelly has 3 more years after this year on big coin 🤦‍♂️.

He is our des headland .

Seriously the bloke looks like he can't be bothered especially when he is required to run back defensively.

Someone like redden who is on 1 year contracts , is 30+ busts an absolute gut and is probably on half the $ .

It doesn't work like that.

I don't know SPP numbers this year so lets use Tom Mitchell as an example. If you take his 35 possessions out of the game, it's not like 35 possessions are lost.

The opportunity cost of a player who gets 35 touches every week but butchers the ball, is a player who gets 25 touches each week but makes better decisions and hits targets.

Tom Libertore is the perfect example. He's not Cripps/Dusty bull type, but he's inside. He maybe gets 20 possessions per game. He plays his role for the team. But as soon as he starts getting 35 touches (he doesn't because he plays his role) - there's a problem because there's an opportunity cost. You want Bont, McCrae, Daniel getting those 15 touches rather than Libba.

It's why Rosa and Priddis divided people - people understood that 15 of their possessions were better off in another player's hands. When Rosa gets 40, we're doomed.

Kelly is the epitome of a player who looks a million bucks in a top 4 side but can't get consistency in middle or lower tier side. He'd be an a-grader at Freo or Swans. B-grader with us.

If we are going to rebuild then Simpson needs to go for the pure fact he is on such a high salary .

He is on premiership coach wages and when your coaching staff is under the soft cap having such a high paid senior coach will be costing the club 3-4 development coaches/staff during a rebuild

If we sack him then payout comes from the soft cap and will hinder us making replacements anyway

The club isn't going to pay 2 million plus and then hire another coach.
The soft cap wold be decimated.
Usually the board members who were strong in signing such a coach are pressured by other board members to fall on their swords. But I get the feel we have a bit of a gentleman's club. I don't follow what goes on at board level.

Will Ashcroft doing well in the VFL.

No brainer to choose him with our pick, even if it means forcing Brisbane to match and we end up choosing someone else.
100% he's pick 1 for mine by some way.
Had a slow start in first game this season but has been dominant since and is starting to put together a Diacos like performances.
Dominant VFL performances, shows his class and the clear number 1.
We'd be negligent if we didn't make Brisbane match at pick 1 .

Ain't going to happen.
Can anyone explain to me why the club (according to media reports) that has significant funds ($80M) in the bank are not willing to pay over the soft cap, and hence pay the tax.
Its arguable that the Eagles have not dealt with the cutting of soft cap/resources in comparison to others.
Are we putting profit before people?
Why don't we bite the bullet and give the team the best resources (development staff, fitness staff, welfare offices, coaches, recruiting staff etc) money can buy, as West Coast will always be wealthy.

Even if it is not what they want to do as a rule, in our situation now we should be breaking glass on the cash.
support staff medical, fitness, development all well below standards atm.

I even shudder at the surgeons they have used for the ankles this year. Will be interesting to see if they come back ok. I know at least one has had a return surgery.

How do you figure that out?

He's contracted until the end of 2024.

AFL brought in max payout clauses. For AFL funded clubs. But does that include West Coast?

Kerr looked terrible for us when he had no support around him. Its the same for Kelly.

We should go hard at the mid season draft to get a look at players of interest?

With our large injury list and rebuild needed we should look atmoving 2 or 3 other players onto the inactive list imo. Bite the bullet and dont risk them coming back underdone and stuffing up their preseason. Open up 2 or 3 spots early and bring in 2 or 3 more players worth looking at. One might just show enough to stay on the list next year.

Some clubs have no spots to use so lets get some advantage out of this shambles in 2022.
