A few things I do know

Vardy is not impressed by the club. Gave him a contract offer then withdrew it pending the end of the trade period. If anyone offers him something even close to a contract, he will leave. Known dog act by the club and quite unprofessional really. We are normally better

We are pretty light on with salary cap room. Any in better then Zac Langdon will require a out of our own and also a backended deal too. Dont know this for sure at all but I do suspect Petchs 3 year deal has a bit to do with us not having much cash to offer.

Vardy not impressed?

Nothing impressive about his contribution in the last 2 years. If I was him, I’d be looking at that as the reason for his predicament.

Personally, I have no issues him leaving.

Some folk genuinely over rating Brander’s trade value and future prospects I think.

Brander is Brent Staker without the ability to throw himself into traffic occasionally.

He won’t be a KPP in the AFL - he’s a Staker-style flap around the flanks type.

Happy to be proven wrong.

I think a lot of you are terrified that he’ll go be successful elsewhere, rather than seeing what role he can play for the Eagles any time soon.

The thinking is good, but losing brander isn't worth a pick 17 in this years draft. There's just nothing we really need to gun for in the top 20. Brander is still worth more to us than that I think. If there was a way to swap Brander for Logan McDonald I'd be all about it. But he'll be gone in the top 5 i think.
astute judgement right there

A lot of that type of thinking goes on during trade talk.

It's a fair assumption to think Brander would be "better" at literally any other club right now. He hasn't set a high bar from his 11 games.

He wouldn't be playing behind Darling, Kennedy, Allen & Waterman up forward for one thing. He'd actually get a run at it properly.

Secondly the club he goes to might stop playing him on the ****ing wing for a start, because that idea has yielded so much fruit for West Coast so far.

Thirdly he would now be a 4th year developing KPP. Of course he's going to be better with another year behind him.

2021 Brander at West Coast to me is going to have shades of 2020 Brander written all over it unless something drastically changes to his role, or injuries to other players.

Zero chance of affording Will Brodies salary. He is on big coin.

The only realistic player we could target and id like to target is Quinton Narkle. Him for Brander could be a win/win deal

Will Brodie is out of favour and apparently GC would be willing to pay some of his salary.

I hadn't made the connection that he should come to us, but his salary isn't going to be a blocker.

There's actually a few mids on the market this trade period.

Bit of a pity we don't have much to offer, given targeting oppo mids rather than developing our own seems to be our thing.

Polec, Constable, Brodie, Caldwell, O'Halloran, Narkle, Blakely. Some more gettable than others i imagine.

I'd love for us to land Brodie...I watched pretty much every game he played in 2019. The kid is a talent and has a lot of growth left in him for mine.
Yes please.

Staker became a KPP in the end didn't he?
