I still can't work out how Dow was drafted #3 when he is such a poor kick of the football.
At U18 level these lads have more space & time, so their DE is better .....at AFL level, their kicking under "real" pressure is exposed

Well, that's not a very Fun Fact for Carlton supporters. Lay it out like that, and it looks horrible.

"4 possible wins" my backside. They'd have to be well underdogs in 3 of those, and the GCS game will be no pushover. IMO 2 wins, max, out of that lot. Of course, they'll probably jag one out of the other games as well, because that's footy. But even so - they're looking at a 3 win season, maybe - MAYBE - 4.
Which is double what they got last year.

It will be interesting to see how their young guys pull up after chasing the likes of Treloar, SideBottom, Stephenson, Kelly, Coniglio, Taranto over the next few weeks.

So true. So much pressure on them at 1-8 too.

There are a few Carlton supporters hoping that there is greater cohesion in the 2nd half of the season after the young guys string a few games together with each other. The aim is to jag a few wins against tiring teams. My fear for them is that with the other teams so closely bunched, Carlton (and Syd at this stage) seem like the only teams where the top 8 aspirants will be able to chase a percentage boost. They will try to replicate what North Melbourne did to them.

In the back half of the season, what do Carlton players have to play for? Getting 100% buy-in from players on trying to move from 17thish to 16thish from a coach who may not even be there the next season will be tough, especially with tiring minds and bodies from another disappointing season. Melbourne and Essendon had legitimate chances at the finals this year and look how hard it was for them to get their players up and about early on. Can't see players like McGovern lifting after round 18 if Carlton are only sitting on 3 or 4 wins. The players were certainly done when Adelaide played them in the final round last year.

Carlton have certainly improved the margins of losses this year, but injuries to key players may contribute to an ugly back half. Playing Collingwood, GWS, Essendon and Brisbane in the next 5 weeks may unfortunately show them where they are really at.

Not too many busts in there. Setterfield and Pickett stand out, amusingly both now play for Carlton.

While not too many are outright busts, there are plenty of players in there you'd be annoyed spending a top 5 pick on.

McCartin, Petracca, Pickett, Schache, Parish, Setterfield and probably Dow, Davies-Uniacke and Ainsworth based on what I've seen of them

Probably said anything to jet get the job and then would set about trying to do things his own way.
He didn’t suddenly forget how to coach. Just needed to be able to do things he wanted in his own time frame.
I don’t think it was a mistake by Carlton to get Mick.
Disagree the game style he was trying to implement with Carlton was out of date by some years and only ever going to get bad results.

Is there a stat available for disposal efficiency of contested possessions?

Both suffered serious injuries

How many Pick 1 or 2 that didn't go to basket cases at the time?

Taranto at 2 in 2016
Hodge at 1 in 2001

Hmmmm..... maybe not.
I just had a read of the how low can the Crows go on the Carlton board.
How the **** can they STILL be so delusional???
It's best right now - we can enjoy and take the piss at our leisure. Can always go for a drive by visit if you feel like some of this...

These are the 4 possible wins they may have in ORANGE.

I still think the Saints and Dogs have their measure comfortably.

They are a chance to beat the Suns at home to equal their 2018 H&A record of 2 wins.
this is so exciting.

this is so exciting.

I wish I had the Carlton's H&A draw for 2020. Its a fun and simple exercise picking which games they will lose.

As I said even with the games highlighted in ORANGE that I thought they are a chance, they wont go in as favs.

Take away Bolton's 5 games at hawthorn and he would be Bottom of the list.
It shouldn't be long before he and his team occupy 18th.

There is absolutely no way Bolton's record at the Hawks be counted in any capacity. Its not like Clarko left the Hawks as is the case with interim coaches, he was still very much in charge albeit he was in hospital.

FFS I could have coached the Hawks to 5 wins during that time. Elite skilled players carrying out Clarko's game plan.

It's amazing that Brad Scott has coached over 200 games and barely has a 50% win rate with 0 flags

I doubt Carlton will be a favourite in the next year and a half
