Yes and no ... we have about 6 players or so likely in mix for 8,13 and 16 and he is clearly one of them as he should be

The noise linking us to Jones Clark Caldwell is no different to us spending time with Hately ... they’re all in mix as they should be with 3 picks within 6 picks (8-13 or so )
6? .....try 15

Have to ask have you seen Hately Play, you do know he is one of the few players in the draft that can play Forward, Inside/Outside Mid and Back. he did make the under 18 all Australia as a Forward, Rising star for the SANFL with only 11 games, and he did that with a Knee compliant.
The problem when comparing with others is he did not play the same position, Liard rotated him around to fill in the gaps, he played Mid, Wing and Forward for state team,
His Kicking when not playing inside is very good, Under pressure, he better than average, Pace wise he not slow unless you call Brad Crouch slow,
If he played inside mid for the entire year we would be talking him up at pick 5 but he spent a lot of time on the wing and half forward, with bursts off the half-back line, he spent more time away from the inside role than playing inside mid.
He breaks lines and hit targets, and would be one of the best tacklers in the draft. and has been noted as one of the best readers of the game.
And he is one of the youngest kids in the draft.
Need to watch a few of his games the Kid can play and will be a star of the game.
Mate you were going well until you brought Brad Crouch into it, Hately just does not have the speed or acceleration from the contest Brad has always possessed

It was more in reference to our guys getting a feel for what players the Clubs with picks in front of us at those picks are doing.

He a lot quicker than most believe, have seen him burn of a few so-called quick players in the SANFL,
And I have seen him burst strong out of the contest a few times, Give an injury-free preseason and he will improve his pace, Now that its public I can say he been carrying a knee complaint for a while,

Realistically - no we wouldn’t be putting any time into the top 4 or 5 like we are those there aforementioned

AFL is a far quicker game than SANFL ......what you've seen counts for little

Maybe but given that there isn’t many picks between 8 and 13 and 16 it could be either / or . Being a local we would know him well and probably haven’t spoken for ages while we have focussed on spending time with the Vic and tassioe boys

I never said he was slow, average or above average I just said your Brad Crouch comparison is not a good one speed wise.

Over the course of the year - yes for sure

Lately - unlikely .... these are last minute interviews that would be maybe the 5th-6th time we’ve caught up and would be highly focussed on main likely targets now , last minute catch ups

6 of those Jeff would be for all the permutations of #8 .....again the clubs with multiple picks, make firming players to picks very hard

Not in foot speed AFL move the ball quicker but there some fast runners in the SANFL,
and even so he was a 17-year-old kid doing it against adults. as that all he had to play against,
Just have to remember, a lot of kids have some toe as 16 & 17 yo's ......then they get into the gym for AFL, and "many" lose that speed, or what speed they had

So Hately beating more mature footballers, who don't train at AFL levels, carries some caution

These days you don't lose speed in the Gym, and there are few current and ex AFL players in the SANFL, including Port and the Crows players.
