The question we should be asking is why the f*** did we trade pick 12 for Bode, Pick 23 for Hewitt and why on earth were we thinking Cornes over Shaun Burgoyne or Scott Thompson!

Drew Petrie, the player we were hoping Angwin would become was drafted at 23...

This was a year after trading picks 6 and 21 for Matthew Clarke.

Our list management/recruiting was an absolute shambles.

But he had lots of boarding passes!

I loved seeing Carr instill mongrel into his troops at the Roosters. It helped put more highly skilled opposition teams off their game.

He wouldn't fit in at the AFC though. Too many relics of the Craig era who don't like that kind of thing.

Loved what I saw in the finals, but don’t think we have a chance or want to grab him. Our picks are too early and possibly too late.

We'll disagree re players not losing speed as they mature & get into a gym ......it regularly happens, not all the time I agree

In the old days of straight-up weight program with some running yea ie Ruccuito, but these days they are looking for speed and plan the weights training to assist in increasing the speed or min no loss off the speed,
also it not age that slows a player down in the AFL, It injuries that slow the players, down the continuous knocks and hits. After all the prime age for sprinters and distance runners. is older than a few believe.

Our draft from hell that year. Our picks could have had all of Burgoyne, Kornes Drew Petrie. Instead we picked ???

Lawrence Angwin and his best mate Michael Handby in hope that he can help him settle and keep him on the straight and narrow. Handby was a chunky 189 cm CHB who we tried to turn into a midfielder. Back then a classic tweener.

It's also why I wanted SPP in his draft year. Absolute bull with attitude.

You know how every year there is a draft crush or two that people have. Well, for the picks that we currently have, I have 3 in Bailey Smith, Jye Caldwell and Riley Collier-Dawkins.

I am hoping for one of the first 2 at pick 8 and RCD at 13. If we can get two of those boys with our first 2 picks.....well **** me I just might need to excuse myself on Thursday night.

IMHO, all 3 have genuine star qualities...they just have IT whatever IT is.

None of which changes the fact the TAC/Victorian APS system produces the biggest majority of players drafted to the AFL year in, year out....and this year will be no different I would expect.
