He'd fit right in.

Club should make a stand and appoint a new captain going forwardMore to the point I am not sure Shuey has another season in him.
Shuey should have done this on his own accord. No need for a club to tell him the above. He’s one of our greatest players ever, but it shows a lack of leadership. But that’s fairly consistent across the entire clubClub should make a stand and appoint a new captain going forward
Shuey should be told to concentrate on his body and get it right for the good of the club.

Shuey's disposal is clearly a class above all others in our side, his tackling too. I agree the more we can build his match fitness, the better.I haven`t minded Shuey`s games and he is improving as he builds his game fitness , same as Kelly plus Gaff can contribute as well now ..
I don`t think they are far off from being competitive for longer which should start to lead the younger guys in West , XON and Clark finding some good footy ..
I can’t see how West has an AFL future if he doesn’t find a more effective way of disposing of the ball. He needs to handball, or do short easy kicks or even long ones down the line. ATM he does difficult or even impossible kicks to a contest and often to the advantage of the opponent and hey presto we know how that works out - turnover and goal to the opposition.
Agreed, let them finish the season out working with Simmo on the rebuild. Let them finish at end of year with dignity and respect for their wonderful contribution to the Eagles. Both Shuey and Hurn need to leave. Giving them contracts for next year would be irresponsible. No point keeping Redden either if he's out of contract.
Why? would they not better serve the club by helping the new back and midfield players? One should go before the mid season draft technically.

Actually doesn’t look as bad as I thought. (Until all the other injuries we don’t know about crop up, I guess).
Beagles might have to forfeit though.
I think Shuey still has value provided he can get his body tight. The comment by Simpson that Hurn is still needed for his leadership is ridiculous given we have a host of experienced players in the backline. Hurn is still a good player but has lost what pace he had and is a momentum killer. This year should be all about development and the last thing you need is entrenching bad habitsBoth Shuey and Hurn need to leave. Giving them contracts for next year would be irresponsible. I get Simpson and Nesbitts "we have to keep the experienced leaders" notion, but really isn't that one of the biggest selling points for why we brought in Kelly in the first place? That he would lead the new midfield after our final flag tilt with this list?
Time to pull the trigger. Got plenty of quality on field leaders still around to guide the young team over the next couple. We aren't throwing them to the wolves. Yeo AA, Kelly AA, McGovern AA, Ryan AA, Barrass and Duggan. Oscar and Sheed coming back too, we don't need to keep carrying elder statesman.
Get Trew (if he survives) starting in the midfield with Kelly, Chesser, XON, Edwards and our first pick next year, and away we go.
I’m a bit sick of Winder being an emergency. Jones played as a back in the WAFL last week and did well. Maybe he can add some pace, tackling and good attack from there. Winder can then play mid and forwardIs this your way of saying…

.......sorry little buddy, Shuey's body is cooked... He ain't getting back to his best or staying injury free. Cooked.I think Shuey still has value provided he can get his body tight. There’s this young mid tearing up the SANFL at the moment. Odds on the be selected at the mid season draft.Depends, if there's a solid player to be taken in the midseason draft and it facilitates it then we should be taking advantage of our ladder position.
