There’s been some good batting conditions after day 1 carnage at Lords before, never rule out the draw.
I didnt realise there was a period of 6 drawn games at lords in the mid 2000's

For some reason Cricinfo have not listed the World test Championship as a fixture in their list of test matches played there (India v NZ last year)

Probably because it was played at the Rose Bowl in Southampton.

We somehow end the day in a good position with a 16 run lead with England 7 wickets down, England v NZ test series never disappoint.

Stay tuned for Day 2.

I turned on Kayo and noticed this match was on, put it on the screen and was shocked to see the early score, saw Blundell make a mockery of the thing in his hand by being bowled.

There were appeals, reviews, overturns ...... it was all going off.

I decided to hit the sack and I wake up to see it was a 17 wicket day.

Sack the bloody groundsman I say.

Sack the batters. It was not a 17 wicket day pitch.

Zac Crawley played 5 First Class games the 2 months leading into this for 0 hundreds.

Kent form; 54, 5, 7, 29, 4, 5, 17, 35, 62, 84

Runs - 302

Average - 30.2

If thats the best young batsmen England have there in for a rough 10 years.

While they still clearly have plenty of weaknesses one thing about this NZ side that most previous incarnations didn’t have going for them, is belief. NZ sides of 3/5/10/15 years ago would have absolutely imploded after being rolled for 130, even moreso with the opposition getting a decent start in reply.

They still have to bat again and they were lucky they even got what they did.

I wouldn't be blowing too much smoke up their ass.

Got a mate that lives in the UK. He says the standard of county cricket these days is very poor.

Being an early riser for work I went to bed after the Titans vs Cowboys game last night (2 T.V. screens ftw) when the score was roughly NZ 7-45, assumed they'd get rolled for under 100 and have England 3-4 down at a first innings deficit.

Got to my lunch break before finding out the score. Hilarious. Currently though, these 3 wickets will be critical as England must make use of the somewhat improved conditions and have some form of lead.
