We finally got punished for a poor start but played pretty well after the sending off. Dunno how Pereira escaped a red early on though. LOL at Fulham time wasting with a player advantage.

Opportunity to Chelsea to close the gap further though

I can't understand how good Liverpool are with 10 men. Did it against spurs last year as well, its like the pitch gets bigger and someone there's all this space to work into for them

Teams tend to sit back a little and try and pick us off on the counter, which nearly worked for Fulham a few times, which means more possession + chances.
Even Tottenham with their high line last year only really started dominating when we went 2 players down

Forest marches on. Boring first half and electric second half. Had a goal saved on the line in miraculous fashion by Martinez, then go behind right after. Then get the equaliser before VAR take 5 minutes to call it offside. Then Martinez spills a Milenkovic header that went right into his hands and out into the goal in the 87th minute. Then the winner in the 93rd. That was heartstopping.

So stoked right now.

Villa should have had a penalty when Anderson held onto Rogers wrist. The PL claimed it was a 'fleeting grab'. He pulled him back which impedes his ability to run on with the ball. I counted four steps by Rogers while he was being held.

Rogers fouled Anderson in the buildup imo.

At least as much a foul as the Anderson foul on Rogers.

Rogers could have stayed up too I think.

Two separate incidents. Rogers had a 'fleeting grab' on Anderson's shirt as they were tussling for the ball. Ref doesn't give a foul and there's no way VAR would have overturned it if a goal was scored.

Rogers then runs clear with the ball with Anderson holding him back. A few strides is not a 'fleeting grab'. Rogers is pulled off balance and is entitled to go to ground.

I hate the term "entitled to go to ground". It's just an excuse for diving.

Fo me, one was as much foul as the other.

There's probably a dozen times a game where players get free kicks for the slightest touch. This wasn't one of them. His arm is being held onto for a number of strides which pulls him off balance.

It would have been a yellow card for Anderson too which might have impacted on the Forest subs.

Think it’s best VAR stay out of those. Can understand Villa being annoyed it’s not given but Forest would have the exact same complaint if it was since Roger’s essentially did the same thing one second earlier.

Nah mate it was 'fleeting'. The experts checked it on the box

Yeah, but he only got past Anderson because of his jumper hold. Separate incidents or not, that came first so Villa fans shouldn't feel hard done by.

On the run of play and given the chances we had, it was a fair result.

In the context it was a very good performance
Without watching the match I would say it definitely would have been a very good performance by Arsenal because your club rarely plays poorly these days. Just in terms of the dropped points, it would feel like a missed opportunity to close the gap.

Watched Arsenal last week and when Saka is shut down they have no avenue to goals. They've got no Trent type quarter backing and the midfield and fullbacks are too rigid.
We have too many players in "hybrid roles" that its not playing to anyones strengths.

Last night we effectively should have been 3 at the back with MLS and Timber making overlap runs to take away the 2v1s on Saka and Martinelli. Everton parked the bus, was always going to be how they played, so quick ball movement is how to beat them.

The way to beat a low-mid block is go direct through the middle as quickly as possible.
Every time we got the ball and had Everton caught out, we were glacial in ball movement. Its the main constant with Arteta. His rotations this season are poor. Everton did this to use last year and we lucked out with a late winner.

These are the games where we miss a clinical striker. I have seen people shitting on Odegaard online for his misses, which is fair he should have buried one of them, but there are so many passengers right now.

If Arsenal don't win a trophy this season, I don't think Arteta should be sacked but they really need to put him on notice and bring in a football director to replace Edu who won't roll over when we need a striker and a L8 but Arteta gets his way and we bring in Merino and Calafiori instead.

Put a fork in us.
To early to write yourself off. Liverpool will have a bad run, you just need to get yourself right to take advantage.
