First our real test was the Eagles, then it was GWS, then it was Carlton and then Geelong and now our "real test" is Melbourne then it'll be Brisbane, Sydney and so on.

Our tests change every week it seems.
Mum's mob, Demons, will be a hard lot to beat. However, if Freo keeps that defense up and comes up the corridor like they have been thay might be a chance. You guys look the real deal.

I have a photo of my Mum driving her red VW beetle with my Gran in the passengers seat in, I think '69, with the Demons flags hanging off it. I'd like my kids to have a photo driving about with the purple flags.

Come on guys

Everything has gone right since Matthew Boyd & Bob Murphy went over there. Bad cop/good cop winning combo. Matty Boyd gets the team up for 5am swims in shark infested waters, followed by Bob’s yoga & an ahayusca latte to let the spirits guide you to the next victory.

They’re just on loan Freo, there’s only so much of Bev’s quivering moustache tantrums a club can take.
You also forgotten one major name. But this person's name I will reveal if Freo make finals in 2022.

Your real test comes this week. You should consider forfeiting.

Owwwww dat bitterness….😢
Who is bitter? I'm not that insecure.

I'm just calling it how I see it. Freo are so hungry it's ridiculous and finally have the confidence and self belief that overcomes shortcomings and lifts otherwise ordinary sides into serious contention. Outs don't matter, dodgy calls aren't allowed to hinder momentum... it's glorious to watch your footy side when they switch into that mode and start mowing down opponents. Geelong in Geelong is never an easy win and you ground that out with a side that had no business winning it. Brisbane couldn't.

I would not be surprised at all if Freo win the flag, infact I'm calling it early. Enjoy

No team goes from playing zero finals, to winning a flag. Doesn't happen in the modern game.

It's why Melbourne, Brisbane, Sydney, would all be ahead of Freo in the flag race. 3 teams Freo haven't played yet.

I agree with this. While the start to the season has been really good there are teams, those listed, that have more finals experience than us and it would take a miracle for us to win it all this year.

Look at the age spread and even adding Tabs/Fyfe/Darcy in still shows you how young this side it. A long way to go yet but building for a big window of opportunity

Surely the Melbourne Fremantle game in rd 11 should be moved to Friday night? Highly unlikely either Freo or Melbourne lose a game in between now and that game
Haha had a good laugh at this.

You think the VFL will put freo on a Friday night primetime game on national tv by choice?
Travis Auld and Sportsbet McLachlan would rather poke their own eyeballs out with a blunt knife than put Fremantle on a prime time game. Haven’t had a Friday night primetime game since 2016 where every other club in the AFL has had at least one since 2020. In 2021 we had 1/22 games shown on Channel 7 broadcast.
In 2020 we had 1/17
In 2019 we had 1/22.
So far in 2022: 1/14 on channel 7, DESPITE the floating fixture and how well we are playing.
Just 5 days ago, they fixed freo v brisbane for a Sunday graveyard slot on KAYO in the latest release.

Every other club even the hapless suns have got several games on channel 7 broadcast nationally.
Sportsbet McLachlan and his commission absolutely hate freo and will be privately furious that they are going so well. They would much rather it be Carlton or the suns or pretty much anyone actually.

Crazy that they didn't want lachie neale last year because they thought they were rebuilding when lachie was basically begging to go back to perth for family reasons if they had neale running around there this year they'd probably be clear flag favourites.

We wanted Neale but the cost would’ve been too great, it would mean no Amiss or Erasmus. The Neale move is the type we will look to make when we’re absolutely in the mix - hopefully next year and beyond. The romance of the deal was appealing but in reality it would’ve been a silly move.

Even with Neale in the team we would still be chasing Melbourne and your mob.

If we are gonna throw bulk quality picks at something it’ll be for Luke Jackson or something to help our forward line.

Lachie didn’t request a trade.

After really being surprised by Freo this year in terms of just how well they're structuring up and generating offense from their defence my only question on that remains is - Do they have enough 'offensive' stars? To me there mantra is all about defence and seemingly their best players are generally defensive minded players. Do they have the offensive firepower to match or take on a Petracca, Dusty or Bontempelli type in the big games?

Brayshaw is a really good player but his offensive abilities are similar to that of a Jack Steele. While a fantastic player, hes not the type who's going to produce a game winning 10 minute patch of brilliance which seem so crucial in the big finals games these days. Serong in a similar vein is a tough inside scrapper but doesnt go forward and provide the magic the team needs on a regular basis.

From what I've watched a lot will be falling on Switkowski and Shultz who have been absolutely awesome this year but history suggests small forwards struggle to find the space needed to perform in the big games. Taberner can produce game breaking monster performances, but he also produces games where he's near unsighted.

I feel that they might still lack those game breakers through the midfield and in a KPF spot this year, maybe they'll have to look to add/develop some more offensive weapons in coming seasons with Amiss and Erasmus etc. The last 4-5 seasons I've felt the finals have all been swung by these hyper damaging offensive weapons as both teams defensive set ups and periphery players have all been at the top of their games to get them there. Bont, Shuey, Dusty, T Boyd, Gawn, Trac. These are the guys who I remember stepping up and swaying the contest when the whips were cracking and im just not sure Freo have these guys in the sheds yet.

A lot will fall on one of the best players I've ever watched in Nat Fyfe upon his return... But does he still have the ability of old to simply take over a game and drag every other bloke around him over the line like he used to?

I'd be interested to hear the Freo fans opinions? I remember it was a position/role that was identified by some supporters in pre season as being an area of need/improvement for you guys before it became clear that the team was firing on all cylinders so far this year

When I look at the competition around the mark Trac Oliver and Gawn can all win a game off their own boot. Neale, Bailey and Daniher for Bris. Buddy, Heeney, Parker, Papley for Swans. Who are Freo's match winners?

We haven't needed any moments of individual brilliance this year but he single handedly won us the game against Richmond last year so he definitely can do it.

Switkowski as well is an unassuming match winner. Not even for his fwd work but just injecting him into the midfield at times is crucial.

Fyfe super important in this regard when he returns

Not yet, but neither did the Dees for so much of last year. Howver when Bont and Treloar looked like ripping the game from the Dees in the grand final last year Trac Clarry and Jackson combined to put on 10 minutes of the best football we've ever seen. Im not sure if Brayshaw Serong and Mundy can produce that type of magic. Thats why it will be very interesting to see how JL uses Fyfe on return.

I actually think Degoey would be a perfect get for the Dockers if he wasn't an idiot. He provides that great mid/fwd impact while Brayshaw and Serong the workhorses up the field. From what I saw in his draft year Erasmus may be a similar type of player but you have to wait and see with fresh draftees.
