Tbh I don’t reckon he did thrive, he lost the plot and kept giving away free kicks, including one in front of goal which basically killed the game. I think the booing and the close checking definitely affected his game in a negative way.
I did say can, not did.

He will mature and if gets his head straight, he is going to be a beast.

Don’t usually post this here and I know you’ll find it yourselves, but sharing this cause I loved the insights from Josh Corbett about the belief around the club and how they’re dealing with the lid being off and feeling like it’s 2013. (But also not wanting to say it cause it may jinx it!)

Also love hearing from Sturt and Emmett about the belief in the system and the next man up mentality.

I really like josh Corbett as a person - I hope that if we delist him, the club can give him a role on staff that he will hopefully accept. Seems like a really quality guy to have around.

I don't think they delist Corbett. He's had the hip problem the entire time he's been at the club so surely they give him a chance to show what he can do when fully healthy.

And on Reid, he does come across on the field as a bit of a dick, but there was a lot of respect after the game both ways it seemed. He is a bloody good player, I just hope he stagnates and doesn’t become a generational player for them!
Agree with this bar the fact that he’ll be playing at a Victorian club not the Eagles…

Yeah I just love the fact the winning the last couple of months has looked quite different in different weeks. Last night couldn’t have been any different to the Melbourne game.

We’re not going to be able to play pure freo football every week, but to have different things thrown at you, and keep backing it up in consecutive weeks just screams growth and top 4 quality. Let’s keep it going

We didn't play anything approaching our own game until that lead, mark from Amiss deep into the game. We couldn't control the ball. Couldn't clunk a mark. We needed all of Jackson, Darcy and Treacy to mark between the arcs after half time, they did, the rest is history.

I’d cop that but only if they hit the ass with his arm on Treacy’s throat as well. Who’s your guess?
I think there was a few tackles that may hit the arbitrary definition of dangerous and wind up a game - one from Darcy, one from Freddie.

Then Fyfe struck Culley high off the ball for that reversed free kick in the second quarter - hard to see the impact on replay but that's what the free was for.

Brayshaw you'd think has nothing to answer for but Harley could not have beat that contact up any more than he tried.

Also needs to more fire on Schofield the commentator. If they put him up again, the volume is down and I'll be going abc or sen.
I'm hoping after his effort last night we won't have to listen to his unbalanced one way commentary ever again, Was so cheer squaddy it was making me puke.
Sorry but Schofield wasn’t near the level of Adam Papalia in his cheer leading of the Eagles.

Adam Papalia is a deadset Eagles sycophant…

Yeah but it’s not like we have unlimited list spots. It tight as is. He’d be behind Voss and even Kuek as KPF depth coming from this far back.

can definitely see him sticking around the club in an off field role - but even in that podcast the vibe I got was he sounds like he’s conceded he’s not a part of on field plans / his body is a long way off. One of the all time great, selfless characters though, feel like he has given a lot to the club despite his own dreadful luck with injuries. The way he gets around and supports the other guys in the rehab group speaks volumes to the wonderful human he is.

That whole commentary trio (+ Pav usually) they use for the Optus games are so bad to listen to for the most part. Best part about going to the games is missing out on that every week.

Heart in mouth stuff rewatching the end of the first half. The game was on a knife's edge.

1 min to go, the Eagles boot it into a vacant 50 and Clark almost commits the most Dockery brainfade rushing it through under no pressure.

Would’ve resulted in a free-kick goal and score line of 39-63 at half time.

Instead he redeems himself just in time with an impressive save, by mere cms, we go down the other end JOM goals on the siren and it’s 45-58.

Watching the game today on replay, there were quite a few late hits that they placed on our guys that weren’t exactly kosher. Considering how soft the AFL has been on fining pretty shtty non football acts (Butters, anyone) - it would be pretty filthy of the AFL to start now.

Fair dinkum I think I was screaming through that entire passage of play. Just one long scream.

So, apparently it was Serong’s 70th straight game with 20 or more possessions, which equals the all-time AFL record. Crikey.

Agree. I’ve only been to one game this year due to living in butt **** nowhere for work and have to put up with TV coverage. And it’s too much effort to sync tv and radio up.

It’s a shame more ex Dockers don’t find their way into media work post career to balance things out. Makes you want to have a setup like they have in some football leagues where the clubs have their own TV channels.

It’s interesting (to some) that Caleb Serong appears to have no hair on his body apart from his head, whereas Andy Bae has hairy little hobbit legs.

He wasn’t shit last night. Gave Hoodor a bath in the first half. I’ll give Darcy a pass as he took a heavy knock.
I wouldn’t be surprised if he enters CP after his concussion a few weeks ago.
I didn't see a whole lot of the game due to working, but I had it on in the background......every time I saw something Darcy was throwing his body around like a man possessed!! Wasn't always clean with ball in hand, but wasn't long ago Cornes criticised his work ethic. Total reversal last night from what limited stuff I saw, including after said head knock. Big signs!
