This team is growing by the week.

This is a weaker competition this year outside of Melbourne i reckon the rest of the top 4-6 spots are open.

Forget just making finals. We should be aiming for Top 6 at a minimum now with a guarantee home final.

100% agree about Fredericks. Selfless role to stay out wide or last man and we simply didn’t find him tonight but he drags his man away from the contest and that opens it up for others. That sort of stuff surely gets noticed and is part of the prep and something the team is willing to wear.

I just can’t get over the amount of room for improvement we have. Just more games together and some decisions are made that fraction faster.

The group defense is simply elite.

They did a lot of kick backwards to swing to the other side of the field only to have no options and switch back.

Our team defence was epic.

Acres has well and truly one me over (with the caveat he needs to keep performing like this to keep his B22 status).

Colyer is handy (and well worth his spot in the team atm) but still costs us quite a few opportunities with fumbles at crucial times. Keep an eye out for it when you watch the replay, there was at least a couple of Carlton goals in the second half that started from Colyer fumbling in our F50. Walker is probably the only other one in the team who fumbles as much atm, but he's young and will hopefully improve.

I think being a one-touch player is just about the most crucial (and often overlooked) indicator of genuine AFL quality. It's one of the reasons Fyfe stood out to me from his very first game and it's one of the reasons I love Noddy so much. At AFL level it just kills the team if you fumble for even a second.
Brodie definitely has that one touch quality.

Great post. I can see now how he was pegged as a potential #1 pick in his draft year.
I’m failing to see how he couldn’t get a crack at Gold Coast.
Did they just plonk him at half forward?

I’m getting more and more impressed with his handballing. He just puts it into places for his teammates to attack from and his vision is off the scale.

I've been waiting for him to drop off for 6 weeks and it still hasn't happened yet, slight egg on face here. Undisputedly best 22 and will allow Fyfe a shit ton of freedom when he comes back.

He's been Fremantle'd

Likewise. I wasn’t sold on him like others but he keeps getting better and better. Adding a bit more to his game as the weeks go on too.

Dammit, we should have beaten St. Kilda. 😳
It was the type of loss that actually has benefited the team moving forward.

Losses are only good if you learn from them and make them a once every 5-6 week thing.

We learned from that loss our style doesn't work with too many lock down defenders. The team and coaching staff rectified it.

Hamling will only play now if pearce is out or out of necessity through injuries.

Only managed to watch the last half but Brayshaw had probably 5 week's worth of run down tackles in those 2 quarters. Was BOG for me

Lobb good again - he's had a really solid year so far

Our forward pressure has really lifted this year and is making a big difference.

The only thing I could criticise Acres about this week is not celebrating hard enough for a goal that was genuinely unbelievable

Credit needs to go to whoever for getting Acres and Colyer to contribute the way they’re doing. Credit to Lobb for persevering. Massive credit to the recruiting of Brodie.

To think we have some youth in the shed that can all still be awesome in: Henry, Sturt, Erasmus, Johnson, Worner, Western, Amiss… man that list itself is mouth watering!

Embrace the hype!

I cant wait to get Western back out there, he could be a one-touch / clean version of Colyer

The beauty of this group is we are not reliant on any one player. Everyone is playing their role (except for Freddy he was shocking today) & stepping up when we need them.

Lobb, Pearce, Acres, Colyer, Aish, are the prime example of this, not match winners, but moment winners when we need them to stand up at vital points of the game.

The game plan developed by the coaching group is what we have been dreaming of for 5+ years & is just great to watch. Little bit of Richmond of a few years ago without the manic ball movement, but not fussed to lose the contest to win back the ball at half back & take off with controlled movement.

Just a joy to watch.
Your post is interesting.

I agree our playing group is not reliant on one guy. A good spread of goal kickers.

Saying that you brought up Richmond.

Richmond's 2017-2020 side is similar to freos 2013-15 side when it comes to tactics.

Go watch the 2nd and 3rd quarter of the 2017 AFL Grand final between Richmond and crows.

Then watch the 2013 preliminary final between Freo and swans.

Richmond bashed the crows and kicked 8 of the next 9 goals.

Freo bashed swans and kicked 8 of the next 11 goals
