Have never seen this being used as a positive verbI've been waiting for him to drop off for 6 weeks and it still hasn't happened yet, slight egg on face here. Undisputedly best 22 and will allow Fyfe a shit ton of freedom when he comes back.
He's been Fremantle'd
Switta is like an ankle breaker in basketball....his side step/evasiveness is great to watch....
Don't forget Josh Treacy...good, young depth....holds us in very good stead over the next few years and possibly decade.Credit needs to go to whoever for getting Acres and Colyer to contribute the way they’re doing. Credit to Lobb for persevering. Massive credit to the recruiting of Brodie.
To think we have some youth in the shed that can all still be awesome in: Henry, Sturt, Erasmus, Johnson, Worner, Western, Amiss… man that list itself is mouth watering!
Embrace the hype!
When Taylor is this blunt you know shits gotten interestingGet that up you sideways you blue pretenders!
Right up you.
Get the lid and everything blown off!
Dead right. Richmond's game is built on turnover. Right now we must be close to the best turnover team in the comp. The beauty of this group is we are not reliant on any one player. Everyone is playing their role (except for Freddy he was shocking today) & stepping up when we need them.
Lobb, Pearce, Acres, Colyer, Aish, are the prime example of this, not match winners, but moment winners when we need them to stand up at vital points of the game.
The game plan developed by the coaching group is what we have been dreaming of for 5+ years & is just great to watch. Little bit of Richmond of a few years ago without the manic ball movement, but not fussed to lose the contest to win back the ball at half back & take off with controlled movement.
Just a joy to watch.
My comment was more about Richmond being happy to lose the contested ball & allowing the opposition to have a +1 at the contest with their +1 a kick behind the play, win it there & then move it forward anyway they could through the middle of the ground.Your post is interesting.
I agree our playing group is not reliant on one guy. A good spread of goal kickers.
Saying that you brought up Richmond.
Richmond's 2017-2020 side is similar to freos 2013-15 side when it comes to tactics.
Go watch the 2nd and 3rd quarter of the 2017 AFL Grand final between Richmond and crows.
Then watch the 2013 preliminary final between Freo and swans.
Richmond bashed the crows and kicked 8 of the next 9 goals.
Freo bashed swans and kicked 8 of the next 11 goals
You know that mixing red and blue makes purple. So good to have Shoota back in, I'm confident when he's going for goal, as sure footed as a mountain goat!
The Brodie acquisition is actually so ridiculous for us. Perfect age bracket to stick alongside Brayshaw and Serong and we can slwoly introduce Ras and Johnson to take over from Mundy/Fyfe without losing anything.First game I've seen us play at Optus since Round 3 2019, so very happy to get one over the Blues.
Carlton don't defend transition well. Several times during the match I had to ask how a Freo player got so much space to himself, including Schultz I50 twice.
Brodie looks the goods live. Happy to see him get his first goal. Reckon he will probably feature alongside Brayshaw and Serong for years to come.
Tonights game is exactly how i remember Cerra tbh, gets a bunch of possessions ouside the pack yet has little influence on the result. As an aside - I found it amusing that Cerra had over 30 possessions but had zero impact. Carlton seem to have him playing their circle football and forget that he is an elite kick & the one that should be kicking it into F50. He’s been Carltoned!!!

Brodie out marking Cripps was awesome - think it was in the last qtr

I also thought Logue, Ryan, Cox, Clark, Walker and Pearce were fantastic. Clark defended well and is looking more and more comfortable each game. I’m pleasantly surprised by how well he’s coming on. Walker worked hard on the Blues 21, a big challenge.Full credit to JG who seems to have fixed our forward line woes.
Walters..Welcome back Son Son. Lovely game and that Cerra tackle was Very Nice.
Switta is just elite with his evasion. Seriously hard to tackle when he can turn on a 5 cent coin and Billy Elliot his way through tackles.
Schultz deserves a proper contract. A nice fat one!
Freddy never stops trying and almost always seems threatening. They cannot leave him unchecked due to his insane speed. He's having a solid season.
We are dangerous inside forward 50 again. Teams are nervous and those nerves are forcing errors with perceived pressure.
A couple of Shout outs:
Acres... Mate. You are a slow burn trade that just keeps on improving. Tonight you showed everyone that talent that we all knew was there. This trade was a win.
Brodie.. Mate. Best trade in of the season. There's daylight now between you and second. Fast becoming a fan favourite and a reason we arent getting flogged out of the middle anymore.
Lobb..Mate..You worked your guts out tonight and did some really good things. Stay. Dont go.
Same with Tabs. Both presented, made a contest and did their role. I like the forwards playing as a whole. Walters kicked 2, Switkowski 2, Schulz 3 and Lobb 3. Exactly what the forward line is capable ofWon't tolerate any Freddy bashing. Worked hard, competed, just didn't get the looks. But his pressure and repeat leads are exactly what allowed the other smalls to dine out. Unselfish game.
