Port are going through the exact same thing with Ken that we went through with Craig.

The scenarios are eerily similar.

They just need their version of Spackler's transcripts.

In all honesty.. if we are thinkin about the future.. tex shouldnt be picked.. whats he got?. 1, 2 max, season left in him?..

He’s not gonna be there for our next finals run so it is sort of list clogging levels of silliness picking him..

But we all know he’ll be straight back in!..

For all he has done on field and off field, he's given his heart and soul to the Club, he's been unfairly bashed from pillar to post by the AFL media - he deserves to be picked for as long as he wishes to play (provided of course he is performing).

A rare true Club man and IMO our best ever Captain as well as being an elite big forward.

PS the Jones "HTB not paid" - was that the wing, as above, with 30 secs to go? IMO that was "no prior". Maybe in another situation an overzealous umpire might pay it, but it was quite legit to let it go.
Re: the "htb" not called on Jones with 33 seconds to play.
Looked more like "illegal disposal" to me (if anything) but it would've been a tough call because he was tackled straight away (no prior, as you said).
The Port tackler (Rozee? Duursma?) was not upset at the call and just jogged off.

In fact, not a single PA player in the vicinity appealed for the free kick. So, yeah, play on.

You can focus on the negative that he didn’t quite hit the pass - but far more important was the clean take under suffocating mental pressure. Every chance that ball is fumbled, but he was clean and the kick was good enough.

I agree with the person before me - he looked to me to pull the kick as too much the game is gone. The chest was best but grass was a safe option

Agree. Although it does look like he pulls back from the kick. Probably because he knows down by 2 with less than a minute to go if he over kicks it its game over.
Billy is also not smart enough to go: "we're ...down by 2 with less than a minute to go; if I overkick it, it's game over".
He flubbed the kick :grimacing:.

Luckily, Hinge was the recipient and raked it forward to a lead (aiming for Himmelberg, looked like).

Anybody else notice that he lowered his eyes and did not just bomb the ball in high to a PA-packed I50?

Rachele's 5 goal haul in his first game already exceeds Rankine's career game high in goals.

And would have Luko slotted the game winner Dawson did on the weekend? Does he influence games as much as Dawson?

Enough said really

Bloody hell Dawson is a gun.

Always has enough time to dispose of the ball, even if being tackled he still gets it away.

A welcome change from the likes of Ned and Jones who crumble into a tackle as soon as contact is made.
he's very strong through the hips. Just shrugs off the tackler and takes off onto that elite left leg.

I didn't consider Billy was playing 4D chess, I just thought he couldn't hit a target from 20m away.
I’m not for one minute suggesting it was a deliberate act by Frampton, was totally a $hit kick but I think it’s interesting to consider how it affected the end of the game.
If Hinge marks that ball he’s in two minds, play on or go back and look for a target, that can only play on causes him to be decisive.

It was a clean pick up and a 'tempered' kick, but no way in hell was it intentionally aimed to lob just in front of hinge with the thinking that Hinge would have turn around and play on.

Thing is, what ever the case, it worked by Frampton not over-kicking and was one of a few happy links in a chain that ended up in a thoroughly savage defeat for Port and a morale boosting win for us.

Bloody delicious.

Yes we can agree. No doubt he missed his kick. but In the heat of the moment he looks to have allowed for a margin of error that was under not over - by not over cooking it.

But as you say good result for crows and shouldn’t also forget how clean hinge was too. Either of those 2 fumble and it was curtains

I give him credit for going the shorter option to a better user of the ball though.

The easy and predictable option was the 50m kick up the ground.
