You know what people are like in general. Once you have money you always seem to want more

I'm lead to believe he isn't one of the higher paid coaches, I mean it would make sense, we don't pay anyone what they're worth

He should be one of the lowest paid given his lack of credentials or proven success

It seems to be Pyke's way. Steady unchanging belief and commitment to a game plan at a reduced speed of ball movement. Seems to me most clubs (Richmond, Melbourne etc )know that if you bring top intensity and slick crisp fast ball movement the Crows game will falter and cannot re-emerge.
Please look at the ways we played in Rounds 1-6 last year and any other time we hammered some poor mob. Our spread, run-and-carry, and overlapping ball movement was slick, crisp and fast. Elite.
We only slowed down and played possession footy when seriously challenged, and that worked more often than not because players were prepared to run to positions to receive uncontested marks from teammates whose footskills were sharp. With injuries to 6-7 of our top 10 players, we've lost both facets of our game.

We've seen plenty of Cheney in the past, and Hampton for that matter.

I'm all for giving games to Gallucci, Wilson & O'Brien, but I don't see any point in giving games to players who have already proven themselves to be worse than the "orange cones" we're currently selecting.
Yes well that's the three I would like to be given an extended run. Sauce isn't right, Atkins refuses to man up or lay a tackle, Mackay just gets brushed away and puts his team-mates under the pump with his delivery by foot and playing one decent game in 6.
The season is shot. We need to see who stays and who goes so we are in the best position to get as many talented SA boys as we can in the draft.

Can only do so much when the ressie team is filled with top up players and young kids. Why pick Wilson and not give him a go and drop either Mackay or Atkins to see how he goes. If he is out of his depth have we really lost much with what these two have given us in the last 3 weeks. Other teams swing the axe and give young players a chance. Keeping underperforming players in because the replacement isn't starring in losses each week in the reserves just is another sweep under the carpet statement. There is no accountability.
So we're prepared to make excuses for players performing badly, due to an understrength team, in one competition - but not the other? Right.... that makes sense.

Defining what is unacceptable behaviour.

Accountability for performance.

Otherwise some accept they can get by on mediocrity.

Atkins & Jacobs for starters, as they can both do better.
Jacobs has a back injury, which is why he can barely move. I'm not sure that he can play any better right now.

Atkins is just plain soft.

I don't see the point in dropping players, if their replacements aren't even performing at the lower level. Wilson is performing, so give him a chance. Jacobs is playing injured, so give O'Brien a chance. Other than that, I don't see a lot of point.

Neither Galluci or Poholke were setting the world on fire in the twos. If you've watched any of the SANFL you'd understand it's not a very good foundation for making form assessments.

I think you'll find the maggots didn't beat us today.
I could probably point you to 10 "events" during the match, any of which could have resulted in us winning the game (we lost by less than 1 goal). The umpires are probably responsible for at least 4 of those "events".

If the umpires had been competent - we win. If Betts kicks straight, instead of kicking 2.6, we win. Betts wasn't the only player to miss gettable shots, he was just the most prominent (by virtue of having the greatest number of misses).

Lots of things went horribly wrong, yet for all that we only lost by 3pts. It doesn't take much to turn a 3pt loss into a win, and the umpires did make some major blunders which cost us goal scoring opportunities.

Gallucci & Poholke are being picked on potential and development, not form. There's no potential left in players like Hampton & Cheney. Wilson & O'Brien I have consistently said that I would like to see.

Our defence is some of the worst shit you'll ever see.

Just how often can you watch a player on his own in the forward 50 with not a single one of our players with even the slightest clue how they got there.
The problem is that the midfielders aren't working back, which means that the defenders can't roll back quickly enough.

Jacobs is playing injured, so give O'Brien a chance.
My gob is smacked. My flum is moxed. My flabber is gasted.
There are 3 serious mysteries:
1) why do they persist with Jacobs if he's injured? If not injured, he's cooked.
2) even though it's a fully overcrowded bandwagon, I'm on board --- why persist with Mackay? Would any reasonable substitute from the SANFL play as badly as he has since the Bulldogs game?
3) Why hasn't Hass been sacked, even if only to send a message to Burton and The Three Stooges (Clark/Campo/Hart)? Then sack those 4 at year's end.

Gibbs is no O'Meara or Treloar

He's been an A grade mid for the last few seasons, so no, they are comparable. A grade or just fallen off the pedestal due to injuries is expected to be a 1st + a downgrade in picks.

Considering we didn't lose much in the downgrade (17 to 20), to say we got bent over in a trade is just stupid.

As of right now. We've won that deal comfortably.

No they're not. They get picked because we have no other options. This club has no history of picking players for development.

12 disposals with 5 turnovers, just ain't seeing it with him yet.

Disposal count is good for a small forward. Turnovers are ok.

Turnovers clean up over time but will always be heightened when we aren't doing well. Small forward equally isn't a position where you'll get any more than 10-15 disposals for most games; especially when Betts is playing as the no.1 small.

Get better reading comprehension because i didnt compare them.
No need for insults. Vhaluus , you said:
Same way as bomber thompson was independantly wealthy supposedly from real estate but in reality he was having to deal drugs?
Looked to me like you were lumping them together. If I misunderstood, my bad.
What were you trying to say, please?

Yep, it's about the single worst move we could possibly make.

Betts in the ruck is a better option.

Mackay should only ever be used to guard the bee.

There were tinms under Sando where Mackay would line up in the square for a centre bounce with Lyons stuck at half forward or pushing up to a wing. It belies belief how we've hamstrung our performance by trying to make that spud decent somewhere. We can't give Hampton 15 minutes off a back flank to see how he goes, but we'll give Spudmac multiple cracks at being a stoppage mid. It's a hell of a curiosity.

Ruck is going to be a major problem for us in the coming years as we have totally misread our needs here.

No it isn't. That is not how rucks work.

Ruck is the only position that has more AFL quality players then actual positions, meaning it is not hard to trade for a ready made ruck on the cheap (it is what most clubs do now).

You'll notice we'll either pick up Lycett or a 2nd ruck from another club at the end of this season and that problem is solved.
