How’s the wheel chair access for our old boys at AO? Also I’m hearing they’re putting a couple mattresses in the Cats interchange bench for Selwood and Danger to have their nanna nap during the last quarter. Port will be licking their lips playing us, couldn’t have worked out better for them.

Wow...with supporters like you, who needs numpties from other clubs on this Board...

No real and genuine supporter of this great club would ever say anything like this.

I haven't read the whole thread. Mostly due to ppl being in some strange tailspin.

What was interesting last night was that neither Henderson or Cameron had a concussion test........
I really hope there was not anything surreptitious occurring.

Why would they? Their heads never hit, it was body on body. Probably winded them, that's why they stayed down. Henderson seemed to cop a few hits last night.

I think this is crap 10 years of making top 4 then folding under pressure of sides wanting to do anything to win, leaves a hole every year, We never look like a hungry team
We are a team that seems to ‘phone it in‘ a bit come the end of the year.
Not sure if it is finals fatigue, or just the personalities we have in (and around) the team. Perhaps being an older team makes guys a bit more philosophical, but some mongrel want is what gets teams over the line in a gruelling finals campaign.

44 points up and then fail to kick a goal for over 40 minutes? Same pattern in finals of the past. The coaching is a major problem.

When we attack we look fantastic. Reverting to a conservative game style is what costs us. Or coaches have a strong preference for this. Our players simply lack the skills to execute.

Worst loss i can remember and i have supported the side for 50 years.
Oh and 95 grand final so much worse than last night’s loss.

Can’t believe the lack of vision there from two elite footballers. No jumper clash, both open. Sheesh, Benny Hill stuff.
Henderson did seem to cop a few hits where a ten count might have caught him out last night.
Perhaps using some time on the canvas to catch his breath, like a wily old prizefighter.

It depends on what transpired in the off season to further improve your chances.

Geelong brought in Smith, Higgins, Cameron.
Geelong lost Taylor, Ablett.

Port brought in Fantasia, Aliir Aliir.
Port lost Ebert, Rockliff.

Week 1 of the finals this year, Geelong will be without Duncan, Stewart and Port will be without Georgiades.

I don't know about you, but to me, it looks like Port Adelaide are the more 'improved' team at this moment in time. That is taking into account the impact both Smith and Cameron have had which is snuffed out by Fantasia and Aliir Aliir's contributions.

Yes...like I said...a game 12 months ago is completely irrelevant to Friday night....

Oh...and give me Jeremy Cameron and Isaac Smith over Fantasia and Allir any day ...

Nah, we were never in that.
The comeback wins hurt you. When the team checks out. Kind of like a betrayal.
A guy called Nick Davis springs to mind, or the miracle on grass, or whatever it was called.
2008 Maybe.. with that fat f#*k Dew.
Still have not watched the replay
They hurt..
Last night still needs context. If it was a GF I’d be spitting chips but there is still (maybe)a chance it was ducks and drakes.
Next week so important for this group.
weather looks good by the way. 19 degs

punching the ball away when it was clearly out of bounds
I had to look at the replay again and again and didn't see it. After seeing your post I looked at it again and saw it, but it wasn't worth a 50 and the umpire must have known how critical this would be. That umpiring decision cost us the game.....however its our players fault for putting themselves in that position.

Never watched the replay, never will, one of the worst days of my life.

You probably should be asking, why wouldn't they?
A concussion test requires a report. I.e. A conclusion.

If you are concussed, you're out for 12 days.........

yeah it shouldn't have been called a 50 as the umpire hadn't blown his whistle, Close was trying to kill the contest. Either way though, the deliberate against Brayshaw directly before it was also the wrong call so swings and roundabouts. I'm not reading too much into the game other than we have the ability to kick 9 straight against the Demons

Just checking - which team do you support again, because if it's not Geelong then I would have expected multiple reports for trolling from an opposition poster

Hahaha

Incident assessed:
The incident between Geelong's Tom Hawkins and Melbourne's Clayton Oliver from the third quarter of Saturday's game between the Geelong Cats and Melbourne played at GMHBA Stadium was assessed. Oliver has possession of ball in Melbourne’s defensive 50 and, as he is disposing of the football, Hawkins applies a tackle from behind. It was the view of the MRO there was insufficient forceful high contact to constitute a reportable offence. No further action was taken.

Real supporters is that you as you only say nice things about the club, i thought it was funny be boring with out theses people good or bad

If a numpty from another club posted that, they would get a week for trolling with Mods getting multiple reports ....

So one is a numpty troll, and the other is funny....the contrast based on who they allege to support...rather than on the content of their "contribution"

Interesting take...

Haven’t seen 2008 and never will. Will never accept that loss.
95 I actually thought we were a chance and for it to be over 5 minutes in, and well, even if you think we were never in it, the insipid flogging we got was shell shocking as we sat there.
Am already feeling better about last night-2 very good teams and it could have gone either way- lucky to have such an interesting finals series ahead of us.

Exactly

Same as during the week in the "could Hawkins be reported" for his tackle late against St Kilda - being told "take off your rose coloured glasses" had more than a few of us raising eyebrows

No one's said the club, the players or coaches are immune from criticism - just need to look at the 5 part discussion on Scott to know that. But surely we folks can be more cleaver with their criticism rather than looking for a cheap laugh

I’m so confused by Atkins. He seems to be in the thick of it. Making contest after contest. The issue is that he always seems under pressure and making errors.

I can’t work out if he is under pressure as he initially wins the hard contest or he just doesn’t have awareness and poise of some players.

I posted earlier about Atkins not having awareness.
Unlike elite players who know what to do with the ball before taking possession.
Atkins is among the group of players that:
Step 1 : takes possession Step 2 : search for a disposal option.
He takes off as soon as he takes possession to buy time
This tactic can be effective but is also risky... especially in the backline.

It would have been comical if it didn't cost us the match - I don't mind Henderson drifting forward here and there, but Cameron is paid to kick goals, gtfo of his way and let him go to work.

Been one of Parfitt's biggest supporters on this board over the duration of career, and would even excuse his recent patchiness given he has been down on midfield minutes some weeks with Dangerfield ramping up his time in the middle post ankle injury. Numbers are down but that is fine imo.

But has anyone else noticed that the ball seems to bobble in his hands every time he receives a handball lately? I know he has had hand (thumb?) issues, perhaps that is affecting things, but that split-second of fumbliness just puts him a bit on the back foot in traffic of late.

Ripper front-on tackle at from him at one stage last night though, nearly the highlight of the match for mine.

So had time to calm down a bit now. As frustrating as that loss was, one of the worst tbh, I think in the end it will be a blessing in disguise. We showed that with only a 15 minute burst at our best we can virtually put other teams on the canvas. We just have to put away this mindset of playing safe footy and keep the foot down once we get into that position. At least we go into the first week of finals not drinking our own bath water and will be resolved to fix those issues we had in the last quarter and will come out firing against Port.

What we saw last night was the best and worst of Geelong. At our best, we were good enough to get out to a 44pt lead in basically 1 quarter against who I think has been the best team this year.

And on the flip side we saw our worst in giving up a 44pt lead and losing, it was 32pts at 3QT.
