What exactly do you want Scott to do. Rev the boys up like a U/12 school team. Change plan at the last hurdle when you’re literally 5 seconds away from top.

How ppl can watch the season or the cats week in and week out and then tonight and say gee wizz Kenny has done a number on the C Scott here. The players have to execute on the day. They are the ones going for the 50/50 balls or kicking the ball from point A to B.

I want him gone from the club. I want accountability. His game plan doesn’t win finals and is boring to watch. This has been obvious for years. Thanks for the service chris, but your time here is up.

My view is that it's absurd to suggest we could have won as many games as we have over the past 10 years while also failing in as many areas as many here seem to suggest. According to some, all of the following is true at the same time:

- Most of our players suck
- Our coach sucks
- Our game plan sucks
- Our recruitment strategy sucks

This strikes me as self-evidently ridiculous because if all of these things were true at once, we would be in North Melbourne or Carlton or Adelaide's position. You can't fail in so many areas and still finish up near the top of the ladder for over 10 years.

That's not to say we haven't failed in some of these areas. Obviously we have. But for a critique of the club to be credible one must first acknowledge that for all our finals failings, it is simply nonsensical to suggest that a team that made a Grand Final has failed in virtually all major areas (recruiting strategy, coach, players, game plan). It's an unserious argument to make.

For me the major failing has to with mentality in finals and I lay the blame on both the coach and the players for that. Of the four variables listed above, recruiting strategy is the one I find - by considerable distance - the least worthy of criticism.

It helps when you already have a strong foundation to build on.
Teams like Carlton and North Melbourne have come from a long way back. Chris Scott walked into a club who were leaders both on and off the field. We still had champion players 26-27 years who had years of solid footy left in them.

Teams like North Melbourne and Carlton were coming from a mile back after all the controversies on and off the field.

I also think you need to look at what players Geelong have brought to the club. Dangerfield and Cameron are not your ordinary gun recruits. They are top 3 in the competition at their playing positions.
How many games did Dangerfield win off his own boot in 2016 & 2017 for us to even make top four?
Likewise for Jeremy Cameron this year.

And again, last year was a one off. If you replicated last seasons rules for this season, our finals campaign would have started 5 weeks ago. You would not have seen the fade out we have seen the last 2-3 weeks.
Even Damien Hardwick said if 2020 had some normality about it, they probably wouldn't have won the premiership. I remember hearing that and was stunned by the comments.

It’s all too late now mate.
The damage is done already through the game plan.
The players go through the year playing non finals type footy, so when a good side comes along the mistakes, fumbles etc comes out in high pressure finals.

Last year we made a GF because Collingwood and Brisbane did not bring the heat. We are good enough to beat sides that are off on the day.
Hopefully we get 3 opponents in a row on a bad day.

Yeh it's annoying isn't it Cursed.
It gets harder the older you get.
Wish it wasn't the case, as every now and again you see freaks who can remain atop of their game well into their 30's, but it's few and far between.

You assemble a core group of half-a-dozen+ players in their early, mid or even late 20s and it can be like riding a Wave to ultimate success - but what we're currently attempting - it's not optimistic, it is unlikely at best.

Can you believe Henderson was sh*t in another final? That's never happened before has it.
Why was he delisted again?
First round pick. Trading only works. The draft is dead. The landscape has changed.

That's the argument.

Sad that Wells hasn't had a couple of concentrated swings at the pinata post-2011.

Hopefully Andrew Mackie gets a go at it sometime soon. 2 drafts with 4-5 players inside the top 45 would be my prescription, for starters.

Wow. posts being deleted for no good reason. Nice one mate.

There was a reason.....and perhaps reports from your Cat colleagues had something to do with it.

Stick to posting on football issues and leave the modding to others.

We were in a Grand Final with a group assembled in that way only last year. :drunk:

Please tell me why I watched this filth the whole way through? We never looked a chance from the start.
Please tell me why I stayed at the ground all the way through? Only my pride kept me there! I've never left a game early in 30 years of following this club and I didn't plan on changing that tonight.

Thé irony is Motlop was pretty good in his last finals with us. Then we dumped him anyway. Been missing a small foward with X factor who could find the goals ever since.

castigated around here for being 'soft' but when he was in our side he was our most reliable avenue in transitioning the ball through the midfield to the forwards (aside from maybe Selwood).
he's a modern day player who at his best can be a real pain in the arse and can beat your team down.

Not going to argue with you, there's no point, we all know where you stand. And you know what - i'm not emotional, I expected a loss but thought they'd do better than they did.

I've asked you before "do you think Chris Scott is fallible?, and you've never answered that question.

you wouldn’t be carrying on about Scott post finals if you weren’t emotional.

I have said he is an exceptional coach and one of the AFL’s best. If he wasn’t, we wouldn’t have transitioned an entire premiership team while competing for a flag for ten years.

you just don’t do what his done all those seasons including this year unless your a bloody good coach.

if he was an ordinary coach, we would be bottom half of the ladder or bottom four now and probably for many years prior to this under a “ poor coach’s” guidance and transitioning.

I don’t extent the idea of a coach as “crap” because they don’t win the premiership

Try not to be condescending in your replies, just give it a go. I've said it before finals many, many times but generally don't bother arguing with you.

Do you think he's capable of making a mistake - once again you didn't answer the question.

i beg your pardon? I’ve posted a grand total of about 4times tonight, my first posts for the entire year. All I did was ask why that other Richmond guy wasn’t allowed to post here, I thought he made some good points and was being completely respectful (Unless I missed something).

don’t make stuff up.

Never, ever want to see in Geelong colours again:
Dalhaus
Higgins

Should be regarded strictly as depth players going forward and only used if no fit player available:
Henderson
Atkins
Rohan

Should be replaced ASAP with AFL standard alternative:
Stanley
Menegola

Should decide if they really want to play footy any more:
Guthrie
Dangerfield (although I strongly suspect he has a broken hand)
I'm pretty sure Danger broke his hand just before half time last week. He is not handling the ball well, he is normally a one grab mark but was two grabbing it and he looked to be trying to protect it in tackles and did not have the strength in the hand to hold on. It is not our year, the wheels fell off when Stewart got injured, then Tuohy plus Atkins. Atkins will be better next week. Players often play well first week back but then have a poor game second up. Could be Duncan off a bit next week.
