Looking at the replay again, and it went about 20 metres at least. Horrible, horrible non call. I can understand things like htb being open to interpretation, but to completely misjudge distance that badly is unforgiveable.
They measured it in a segment I caught on FoxFooty earlier today, travelled just a tad under 22 metes. Don't remember the exact figure but it was something like 21.8 or very close to it.

It's a long season. We've just ticked into May, it's still basically five months from GF day.

But can't help but feel we'll be rueing last night's loss at some crucial stage this season.
Maybe.
It certainly needs to be balanced by the equally lucky win over Brisbane.
If we can actually peak in September, ANYTHING is possible, and the only negatives would be playing Port, Lions or Swans away for a knockout final.

Anyone pointed out yet the possibility of us going 8-3 at the bye if we manage to steal the points this friday??
Right now, I would call that delusional at worst, or overly optimistic. Could realistically see us drop at least 4 of the next 8- Tigers, Saints, Port, Dogs, and GC have hit good form, and who knows how the Pies will be in a month.

Sounds like you dont think very much of our prospects then this year. 4-3 after a 2 point loss to sydney at home and a four goal loss to ladder leading undefeated side, isnt exactly a cause to hit the eject button

Nah, sorry mate, complete nonsense. He has been one of the most reliable kicks in the game for a long time. Nothing suss about it. He’s currently in a slump.

Hawkins has almost been clutch over the last 3 years and loved those boundary shots as well. Probably a big reason he leads to them as he hit a fair few of them.

it may have been earlier, but i think it was the H&A game against the Tigers last year where he started to second guess himself and from then on had those crazy play on snaps (which he seems to have gotten rid of this season)or snapping when he should have kicked straight and vice versa.

Think it is now still in his head.

Hardly kissed on the dick. Geelong were paid more fees 22-16. There’s always so much emphasis placed on paid/missed frees at the death, like these are more significant than the 22 the Cats were paid through the remaining 80 mins.
You lost contested possessions, uncontested possessions and tackles, didn’t deserve to win the free kick count

I've adjusted my expectations to 7-4. We won't win Friday but we'll roll the saints and the Suns.

Collingwood might have a new coach by then and they might get a new coach bump and knock us off. Can't see how they can continue to be this bad with the list they have

One could criticise Hawkins for his very poor efforts in the last quarter with some justification...not a great night for the Hawk...

That said, we were +26 for inside 50's...and still lost. The problem is obvious...we just didnt deliver into our forward 50 with any semblance of skill or accuracy.

The Swans did...and we paid the price. The umpiring howlers were simply the icing on a very unpalatable cake.

We better deliver well next week or it could be very ugly.

I am outraged we lost and i have not read anyone that wants Scotts head on a chopping block, lift your game
Especially because this time there's actually coaching related reasons we lost. Our entries going down the wing the way they did was just playing Sydney's game. We really needed to take those numbers from the boundary and get them in the corridor especially given we were winning the contested ball.

Some of our guys down back one on one looked absolutely bamboozled, or are you blaming the mids for that also? (serious question, I am not sure)

So next week we still have Hawkins and we still have Stanley. Lets see?
You literally are the only cats fan in the country, emphasis on ONLY, advocating Hawkins be dropped.
Let that sink in, and what does it tell you?

I think it means you're backing the wrong horse.

Main problem is their obsession with screaming out “not 15” the second it hits a player’s boot. How about wait and see first?
Trying to remember if it was in the senior match last night or the VFL match earlier in the day when the umpire was quick to call "play-on not 15" while the ball was still in the air and before our guy had even got hands to it

It was easy to tell that the call had put off the player as they dropped what would normally be a regulation "mark" with no opponent in site, but they were suddenly concerned with what do once they take hold of the ball because they didn't want to caught & a free against

And because of how early the umpire went he couldn't know if it would be 15m or not and it did look looking enough by the time it reached the hands

Not sure on that if this is anything to go by

He might not but I would. Our entire defensive system relies on defensive pressure through the middle and forward line. The defenders are not supposed to be in that position. We haven't invested the trade and draft capital there to soak up those kinds of entries.
