Don't mind Zach Guthrie and believe he gets unfairly maligned at times. Champion Data rated his 38 minutes tonight as having more impact on the game than Jed Bews' 82 minutes.

According to this jed bews impacted the game under 38 Z.Guthrie minutes.

Which sadly comes as no surprise

He tries really hard Bews and I love his defence good size at 91kg for example I believe Stewart is mid 80's.

The game is moving past the back pocket plumber though with all the new rules 666 if you cannot kick in the back half the game becomes very difficult if your not a key defender.

Kolo gets caught in the same boat excellent defence but decision making and deficiency by hand and foot let him down at times.

Henderson reasonable kick and mark although can't really defend anything lol.

You miss players like Harry Taylor only come around so often

I've actually been impressed with a few of Bews new tricks. His attack on the contest has been good and that spinning side step manoeuvre looks like it has bamboozled a few.

OUT: Z. Guthrie, Clark, Narkle, Stanley, Miers
IN: Sav, Simmo, S. Higgins, Holmes, (Clark med sub)

I would like to see more of Holmes his VFL form looks really promising I thought his AFL game was good. As bad as Stanley has been I think he matches up alright with nankervis and I'm not sure I want big Sav thrown into the ruck and asked to move around that much coming off injury.

If it backfires you end up with Blicavs in the ruck if Fort is available and it's like for like prefer to go that way

8th year on the list well I guess something to go with that 11 touch average.

For mine he has been pretty poor all year but tbh defensively is Geelongs area of weakness.

I think M.O.C and Jack Henry have just gone well past Bews I do admire his tenacity and team oriented play

The umpiring was not why we lost.. and umpiring influences results each week. We scored when we moved the ball and owned the centre. Swans cleverly pushed everything wide ..and we did not take the risk of bringing it back to the middle. The Swans knew the dominating the ruck contests ..and were happy to keep around the boundary.
Do you think Sav will help a lot in the ruck area when available?

This is a poor take.

Who’d have thought just a few years ago we would be reading this statement...how the worm turns.
Who would have thought we'd be naming Higgins as returning from injury and Smith and Cameron as key planks of the attack 6 months ago? In footy 5 rounds is a long term forecast

Yeah definitely a slow build, but he's a long way removed from the player I used to groan about seeing on the ins list. MOC and Henry have gone past him, but there's room for him still I think

The funniest one is Cam Guthrie where has that Bateman guy gone lol

the really slow build to explosion

Someone mentioned a 20k suspended fine hanging over his head. A calculated man he would of absolutely blown his lid behind closed doors which would be fair.

No point hurting the pocket as well
Maybe, but it's almost word for word the same thing he says every time the umpiring is brought up. It's a rehearsed line that he would have rolled out regardless of any fine

Sounds like you dont think very much of our prospects then this year. 4-3 after a 2 point loss to sydney at home and a four goal loss to ladder leading undefeated side, isnt exactly a cause to hit the eject button
Right now, I see us as middle of the road- (6-10).
It can improve but we are not having a great run with injuries and team stability.
Tigers, Saints...Good reasons for ambivalence.

I am outraged we lost and i have not read anyone that wants Scotts head on a chopping block, lift your game
Good reasons for that. Execution is very difficult from the coaches' box. It's our players who failed.

Stanley, at his best, offers more now than Ratugolea, but his form is too hot and cold. So maybe it's better to get games into Ratugolea as a first ruck, as soon as he's physically ready. But that will require patience. Recall the game against WCE last year, when Sav held the primary ruck duties. His first half was excellent—he held par with Naitanui in hit-outs and won out around the ground in general play. In the second half, however, Naitanui's experience and tank came to the fore, and Ratugolea made some costly errors, one of which may have cost us the match. That is what you need to accept if he takes the role off Stanley. There will be moments where he stinks it up. The upside is that he may offer more than Stanley (and more consistency) by next season...or the season after.

This is a poor take.
nah surely it's a good take, I mean he is using a defenders career average possesions as some sort of indiciator of his impact on matches in 2021. Clearly a champion data employee
