Brendon Goddard being called a “St Kilda legend” is the most St Kilda thing ever. 😂

Where's that put Baldock, Smith, Stewart & Harvey?

Well The Doc is pushing up daisies and has done for a while, Ross and Ian are 80 and 79 respectively and Harvey is already on the payroll.
No! I mean...........oh, never mind..........gosh.........

Can’t be a St.Kilda legend if he didn’t make the cover of this

I know that we haven’t transitioned into watching Carlton flags in HD but that’s just ridiculous.

Have I stuffed a setting on my phone, or is this the contrast the AFL app is actually running with.

So Kochie's sooking and whinging paid off. I personally believe it should have been held in The Gold Coast/Queensland or Western Sydney/Canberra to help try grow the game there, but what do I know ?
Don't think it had anything to do anyone whinging. More to do with guaranteed state government money. Would be a terrible look to have freo play the sun's in front of 700 people at GWS.

First year has to absolutely be a success, after that it can be moved around. Happy for the club to get $500k and will look to maybe go over for the weekend to have a s look.

Gold Coast has plenty of ex pats living up there, reckon it would have been good to have had it up there. Maybe in 2024 ?

Maybe. Might have been accused of further plagiarism by the nrl if we were to go to Queensland.

Once again though how many people would go to freo v sun's at the Gold Coast? You probably need at least 2 x stadiums, one that holds big crowds and one that holds at least 15k.

I think it shouldn't exist at all.
It's a ******* stupid idea, borrowed from the NRL, where it works because nobody goes to the games.
I think you could add a bit of nuance to this Stamos, though your overall point is correct. It works in the NRL because it is played in Brisbane, which is a city that is 100x more passionate about NRL than most of the places where it is played. More passionate than the northern suburbs (Manly), the eastern suburbs (Roosters), Gold Coast, NZ (where Union reigns supreme), and pretty much everywhere else there is a team apart from Penrith and Parramatta.

That’s half of the equation. The other half is that Brisbane people (I live here) have a range of second teams. There’s a fondness for the Storm (Bellamy, Smith, Slater, etc.), the Cowboys, the Titans. And obviously, there’s the Broncos. Pit that against a hatred of NSW teams, and in each game there is generally a side that most Brisbane-ites can feel passionate about barracking for and against.

All of these points indicate why it won’t work in SA. For a start, Adelaide is not more passionate about AFL than Melbourne. They’re about even. But what it means is that Melbourne sides aren’t leaving fairly empty stadiums to play in front of a full house (unlike the NSW NRL teams at Suncorp).

And Adelaide fans aren’t going to have a whole range of “second” teams. They only have an affinity to their own side. They might get a cheap thrill out of “sticking it up a Vic,” but are they really going to adopt the Swans and Lions as their own (like Brisbane do with the Storm)?

That’s a long winded way of saying it won’t work. Though I guess, if a whole lot of fans travel it might make for greater success.
