Would happily take Paddy McCartin if the price was right (ie not our first rounder).

He’s shown a bit, and he’s been playing as a basketcase essentially drawing the best defender every week.

Injury concerns are a worry and I don’t know if he’ll ever be able to cover the ground the way the elite key forwards can.

High risk, high reward.
no... the concussion thing is WAY too risky. And the protocols going forward will be even greater and more stringent than they are now.

Is a steer clear IMO.

And I dont want to have moderate out more injury trolling of GFC drafted players.

But I just don think our list can support "risk reward" picks right now - They need to be a bit safer currently

Go Catters

Will Setterfield is linked to Carlton and possibly Ess... a P5 2 years but has had a few injury issues meaning has only played 2 games...

NOW if we insist upon trades.. this type of player appeals to me far more than most I have seen us linked to . One only has to see how North Melb has gone with Paul Ahern this year to see one can be proactive if there is underlying talent. GWS may have to move players... and it might be an end of R1 , possibly a future R2 type traded that he gets moved for...

Spot on.
Would much prefer someone in this age bracket.

Tim Kelly scored an invite to the Cats Brownlow table :)

(Along with Gary Ablett, Patrick Dangerfield, Mark Blicavs, Mitch Duncan, Joel Selwood, Tom Stewart)

Given the club chooses who attends (outside of club captain and past winners), seems like an interesting choice if he was on the way out of the club

Will probably snag a few votes so why wouldn't he get invited? IMO probably will be in our top 5 vote getters.

Hawks had no currency for O'Meara and still got him.

Sold the farm for him.

For the record this is what Hawthorn traded for O'Meara:

- Future first round pick in 2017 (ended up being pick 9)
- Pick 23 (received in Bradley Hill trade)
- Pick 36
The above three picks were traded to St Kilda for pick 10.

Pick 10 was traded alongside Hawthorn's 2017 second-round pick for O'Meara.

Effectively they traded their 2017 first round pick, 2017 second round pick, Bradley Hill and pick 36.

Only for him to miss their most important game of the year. :p

If it wasn’t for the fact they got Mitchell so cheap this trade wouldve been a disaster. O’meara is hugely overrated and that is a massive amount to hand over. Mitchell for pick 14 was a steal though.
A lot of us complain about geelong trades but the hawks give plenty to get their deals done. And they are reasonable when their players leave.

The equivalent of selling the farm.

How they got Mitchell for 14 is a mystery. Somebody in Sydney should lose their job.

Exactly. Forget Steven and Martin etc, if we're going to trade some players in, lets go for some young players who have a good ceiling and will give us plenty of service over the years. It's these types of players that are good for both the short and long term. They will also help with the transition when Selwood, Taylor, Danger, Hawkins etc retire.

AS its illegal to trade R1 and R2 future they needed a 2nd R2 future ...
Carlton gave them that future R2 pick..which I think became P21 for 48,66 & 70 .. Old Haw mate Bolton at Carlton??? dodgy imo there should never be any trade questioned after that one.

NO. STOP IT. It just gets worse and worse... are we to be link to every ancient golden handshake potential breakdown merchant that is on the market. No more rucks from North they sell mutton done up as lamb.

UFA next year. IF they can just rip up Mays contract.. then they can rip up Goldsteins.. as a UFA then we can think about it.

I'm hearing Sandilands to Geelong is as good as done...

I’m hearing questions being asked to get polly farmer back.

But seriously we should not be looking at anyone over the age of 27, but preferrably under 25.
Precisely, we should only trade for players between 21-24. If is UFA and it fills a need then whatever it doesn't cost a pick.

From the GC board

Hearing from family friends of the Scotts that Bailey Scott is due to meet with north Melbourne and geelong officials this week. Doing his due diligence hopefully we have a preferred destination in the coming weeks.

From the GC board
Does Robert Scott have any bad blood against the Cat for trading him? Wonder if that would work against us.

I have a sneaking feeling Suns and NM are leading us... stay home, or breaking into an easier midfield.

I reckon last year's draft pool is better than this year...
I'm not up with this years draft. Wasn't it meant to be some sort of super draft? Although it feels like I hear that every year about next years crop until next year actually comes around...

Only third hand.. I thought there is some sort of an issue with him being left out of a finals side at North ... but plenty of Father have buried their grievances .. so it should have more to do with what Bailey wants not Robert.
I prefer to look at it , as you have ..we are 3rd .. till we are not.
